Well, I think they should be private because I can honestly see no reason why they shouldn't be. In this particular case, all it needs is for some malicious individual(s) who can't stand the poster in question to hammer in a few FPs and they're out.

One FP per person is how it works.

Tombot telling silby "you are generally disliked" is the action that seemed inappropriate for a mod, particularly the likely element of personal projection. Plenty of ppl may have felt warmly toward silby as a poster and person, while also thinking that many of their posts while in an agitated streak were out of line.

Tom you have to acknowledge that it is extremely funny, over three thousand posts into the thread of (ppl but especially sarahel) c+p-ing updates from the Admin Log, to suddenly be surprised that someone (in this case sarahel) c+p'ed an update from the Admin Log

How many FPs did Tombot garner for that threat?

I'm not going to make a big deal about it but it strikes me as a bit weird, especially as I gave Tombot pelters for doing much the same thing, i.e., letting everybody on the board know someone else's business.

I don't think this has ever happened, but I understand the worry. Stet's working on some updates and making yellow cards private is definitely on the list now.

I have no idea how much work is involved with the stuff stet does or how much spare time he has, so it might not happen straight away, though. Don't get too excited.

Anyway, no worries, I get the message, I'll be a good boy and stick to Album Cover threads in future.

Yeah it seems a really weird choice to have yellow card messages be public; I think it dates from the time when the admin log was admin-only.

I’ll take out the message and leave the fact of the yellow card in the log (mainly because that’s easiest, all the admin code is here be dragons)

The "comedy" yellow card with the zingy comment was a thing with a few board level mods for a while. The joke is lost if no-one sees it.

There are probably a few copied and pasted here somewhere if you load all messages.

The two-part thread has been running for 12 years (less one month) and is titled Admin Log Watch and is entirely premised on c+p'd posts from the admin log, and discussion thereof. It's hilariously incongruous to suddenly be startled that a post from the admin log was pasted into the Admin Log Watch.

yeah, i agree. for general mod actions though, i appreciate the transparency of the admin log for sure, i never thought of it as controversial
