Seattle's paying Boone $9.2M and just cut him.

How much will they be willing to pick-up OR will they just let the waiver sharks scoop him up?

Who can pay: Boston, New York Mets, New York Yanks.
Who won't pay: San Diego, Twinkies.

Boston now says they're not interested but could be bluffing.

I can't see anyone picking him up.

Yeah, not for sticker price. If he still fielded well, sure, but even that's gone poof (from what I heard), so he's about $10M worth of Mark Bellhorn's glove and Tony Womack's bat.

The Mets are collecting washed-up American Leaguers.

The Bad, The Worse and The Ugly:

Bret Boone: 7 hr - 34 rbi - .231 - .299 obp - 57 k's
Tony Womack: 0 hr - 12 rbi - .247 - .276 obp - 41 k's (20 sb's)
Mark Bellhorn: 6 hr - 27 rbi - .227 - .337 obp - 94 k's

I don't understand why the Red Sox start cutting down Bellhorn's playing time and moving Mueller a few more days a week at second while putting Youkilis at third. Bellhorn just doesn't have it working this year at the plate other than drawing some walks, which both Mueller and Youkilis also do as well but without all of the K's. Boston doesn't really need Boone, so I can't see them going after him.

I'll be surprised if the Yanks go after Boone, Cano has done a nice job since being called up to the club at least at the plate. I can't speak about Cano's glove, but I haven't heard anything bad about him in the field.

Mueller's knees have been giving him trouble, though. Have you seen him at third lately? I can't imagine him trying to play second. Not that I think Boone is the solution, but if the Red Sox' need for a second baseman was that desperate, I imagine they'd call up Pedroia or Machado.

Babingo bango. Also - a .337 OBP from the 9th slot ain't a thing to sneeze at.

Fuck the quotation marks; you could poke the dude in the eye and hit him on the elbow with a mallet and he'd still be an improvement on Rivas. We need a 2nd baseman like Johnny Thunders needed sweet, sweet heroin, and I for one welcome our aging infielder with open arms and offers of appeasment and adoration.
