I think they use the team you watch and then adjust the commercials with those teams. I live in the LA market and when they air the Play Ball commercial the girl pitching always has a Giants cap on.

Part of this is the fact that the “stone-age” Phillies are doing this. Like if it was the Rays I wouldn’t bat an eyelid and think “yeah of course, why doesn’t everyone do that? The Rays are geniuses!”. Yet this boofhead team is doing something really weird and reaping all the benefits. It’s so great

Same--can't adjust. Not just leadoff, but any hitter. Obviously, those HR and walks are valuable. But you have to balance that with all the outs he makes. So he comes out with an slugging percentage under .500 and an OPS+ of 122. If he keeps his average above .250, he's really valuable. This year, he was an above-average hitter on balance.

And I get that he's adorable and a perfect Phillie.

Like yes correct, and I haven’t watched many Phillies game this year so small sample, and only using the eye-test so prehistoric, but watching this game I 100% understand his value to the team now and don’t fault the hype
