Re: Cubs, points taken. It was just strange to me as a fan watching that 2016 World Series, followed by a competitive 2017 championship run (before being embarrassed by the dodgers in the CS), then getting embarrassed again at home in 2018 by the Rockies. They just looked like the best team in the world and then seemed to disappear from the “yeah that teams going to go far” category within 2 years. Credit my perspective to not seeing them play live before 2016, I only got to see an incredible team immediately decline, didn’t see any of the ascendency.

didnt think Valdez was pitching too badly before, just giving up a lot of sharp singles. he definitely looks off now though

xp It's kind of charming to think of the Cubs as measured from their 2016 arc onwards. I was at Game 7 of the 2003 NLCS 20 years ago yesterday. By the time of James Loney's grand slam, I had no more tears to cry. Winning a World Series in 2016 cleansed all their sins. I've even forgiven Dusty Baker. Like the Kens, they are enough.
