not an omar fan in the slightest but i'm not totally sure what he was supposed to do--mets have a win now team so he's trying to win now. comparing them to the pirates is silly.

yeah, losing church is whatevs but making a move in the midst of a complete team meltdown that consists of taking the #1 stiff off the hands of division rival is the kind of tonedeaf bs minaya has been pulling the last couple of years. i avoided the fire minaya cry up until recently, and i still don't think they should fire manuel tho he is kinda clueless, but when things go this badly after 2 epic chokes, something's gotta give. it's pretty clear to me at this point that minaya has absolutely no idea about how to run a baseball team. on the plus side, we won't have to endure a sept. choke, so maybe omar did us a favor

yeah the francoeur trade was absolutely terrible without question, since the dude will not help in any way and in fact this helps ATL. if minaya was smart he could have traded church for a more useful utility player maybe.

The news conference took a strange twist when Minaya said he “scuffled” with the first published reports, by Adam Rubin, the beat writer for The Daily News, because, he said, Rubin had lobbied him and others in the Mets organization for a job in player development.

Rubin said later that he was flabbergasted by the remark, saying he thought Minaya was accusing him of “taking down” Bernazard because he wanted his job. “I asked, How do you go about getting a job in baseball? That’s the extent of it,” Rubin said in a televised interview after the news conference.

“I don’t know how I can cover the team now,” he added.

see as a person i feel like kind of a dick but as a baseball fan not so much when i say i'm completely rooting for francoeur to fail. it's like when you're at a poker table and some dude calls a flop open shove with his eight-high flush draw for shitty pot odds. you just wanna root for the guys who make the smart plays and minaya/the mets are like that poker noob who's chasing something that looks nice but in reality won't/shouldnt happen

are you telling me when you play poker that you don't sometimes chase low-risk/high-reward opportunities at a low cost

i hate the mets and would love for all of their players to die of swine flu on the field and i have derived lots of enjoyment out of rooting for the team that knocked them out of the playoffs in the past two years and of course this hilariously tumultuous season but i think it was a good trade and i think it would be dope if omar minaya snuck in and stole this dude for some slow fat ass rf that is only average at best

xp francoeur to me is like the epitome of those guys that dumbass fans who don't read stats love...a five too guy who nevertheless totally sucks. i always root against these bozos

like my mets fans friends loved this trade not because of francoeur's "potential" (which is still fucked, if he never learns to walk idc if he hits 40 HR) but because they legitimately think he's a good player. i get the feeling this is the perception most ppl have of him

most mets fans follow what happens with the braves and know francoeur has stunk up the league the last 2-3 years. but they would love for him to turn it around, so far he's been more than decent but small sample size etc

i mean i don't have to "root against" frenchy cause even if he has a good run or a hot streak or something, i know that he is a bad baseball player and will ultimately fail. i also got pretty tired of lol ignorant baseball fans a couple years ago--life's too short to turn into joe sheehan.
