bauer is now on "administrative leave" for the season, and ozuna has also been put on administrative leave. first for 7 days, then revisiting afterward.
"The league has the authority to unilaterally place players on administrative leave for up to seven days, per the MLB – MLBPA Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy. The leave can be extended thereafter by mutual agreement between MLB and the Players Association. Placement on administrative leave is not a disciplinary action and does not reflect any sort of finding in the league’s investigation. Players placed on administrative leave continue to be paid and to accumulate Major League service time."

He still will be suspended, I think. Roberto Osuna got 75 games, so that would be my guess.

Ya. I have no idea what that pitcher was thinking. I don’t see why he would do it, but it looked intentional the way he went right at him.

Yeah that’s a 15 yard penalty

It's becoming clear the Orioles don't know how to play baseball
And yet they ended up winning that game!

the reds broadcast team is discussing the latest billy joel concert and the view that the production guy had, reportedly.
this is still better than any broadcast involving jim edmonds, the worst broadcaster in baseball.
― "HYYOOOOOOONK!" is the sound I make (Karl Malone), Sunday, 12 September 2021 00:24 (four years ago)
also, i want to express my disbelief than anyone, ever, thought it was a good idea to hire rob dibble
― "HYYOOOOOOONK!" is the sound I make (Karl Malone), Sunday, 12 September 2021 00:25 (four years ago)
also, the reds fans are some of the worst fans of all time. they still boo the shit out of yadier molina, every single time, petty little assholes, because molina was involved in the brawl where cueto ended journeymen catcher jason larue's career by kicking him in the back. wow. brandon phillips always made a big deal out of chatting with yadi and showing everyone that they were totally cool. reds fans, petty assholes, there is no forgiveness. they cannot move on. while all this is happening, if a cardinal pitcher throws to first to check on the runner, a thing that happens all the fucking time, like photosynthesis? you know jeremy in Section 144 row 13B is going to lose his shit over that. BOOOOOOOO
― "HYYOOOOOOONK!" is the sound I make (Karl Malone), Sunday, 12 September 2021 00:29 (four years ago)
you fucking cowards! you can't throw to first! let him take a gigantic lead!! god i love baseball!

DON'T YOU DARE TALK ABOUT JASON LARUE THAT WAY
― ✖, Sunday, 12 September 2021 00:31 (four years ago)
reds fans don't even know who jason larue is
― "HYYOOOOOOONK!" is the sound I make (Karl Malone), Sunday, 12 September 2021 00:32 (four years ago)
they're like

nothing against earlnash or other ilx reds fans, lol
but jeezus just what i see on tv (they're in STL tonight, btw. i'm just remembering all of the many times where all of the above happened) is fucking stupid
― "HYYOOOOOOONK!" is the sound I make (Karl Malone), Sunday, 12 September 2021 00:34 (four years ago)
i don't want to bring you down, but no non-bfib like yadi. he's a red-ass dick
i mean he's been a very good not-quite- hall-of-fame player etc. etc. but also whatever
― mookieproof, Sunday, 12 September 2021 00:40 (four years ago)
i can't believe you said that about yadi
― "HYYOOOOOOONK!" is the sound I make (Karl Malone), Sunday, 12 September 2021 00:41 (four years ago)
the world at large may hope waino-yadi reach the battery record, but it won't be because of the latter
― mookieproof, Sunday, 12 September 2021 00:41 (four years ago)
the battery record is sometimes referred to as the "record that could never fall"
you know who would've been a HOF catcher if yadier molina didn't end his career with a tombstone piledriver off the top rope? jason larue
― ✖, Sunday, 12 September 2021 00:44 (four years ago)
jason larue was DUE
― "HYYOOOOOOONK!" is the sound I make (Karl Malone), Sunday, 12 September 2021 00:47 (four years ago)
some say that cueto did it because they knew larue had been spending a lot of time with video, analyzing the reds
― "HYYOOOOOOONK!" is the sound I make (Karl Malone), Sunday, 12 September 2021 00:48 (four years ago)
molina was involved in the brawl where cueto ended journeymen catcher jason larue's career by kicking him in the back
larue was a cardinal at the time? yadi had nothing to do, as best i can tell, with cueto kicking a 36yo catcher in the head?
totally happy to boo everyone involved tho
― mookieproof, Sunday, 12 September 2021 00:50 (four years ago)
especially yadi

it's totally accurate
i'm too hard on cueto. maybe he was getting crushed and was just feeling claustrophobic, i get that. i had an incident with my spouse in a small tent that we shared on our honeymoon. i felt like i was about to die, my body freaked out.
but one more time, look at what yadi did in that whole incident. they're STILL booing about that lol

sorry, typed the wrong words - not a small tent, but a single sleeping bag that we shared.

so yesterday the orioles were the only team in the AL East to win a game, today they're the only team in the AL East to not win a game, nature is healing etc

Only team to blow a no hitter with an 11 run inning!
― FRAUDULENT STEAKS (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Sunday, 12 September 2021 16:24 (four years ago)
Only team to give up 11 runs in both games of a double header!!
Seems apt that it was an Orioles fan that originated the “that seals the deal” meme/copypasta
― Michael F Gill, Sunday, 12 September 2021 17:23 (four years ago)
Jays are one shy of another 11 run game in the 3rd
― FRAUDULENT STEAKS (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Sunday, 12 September 2021 18:05 (four years ago)
Well, Teoscar just selfishly ruined that trend by making it a 14 run game
― FRAUDULENT STEAKS (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Sunday, 12 September 2021 18:08 (four years ago)
so the o's have allowed 40 runs in the last 19 innings
― mookieproof, Sunday, 12 September 2021 18:57 (four years ago)
Brewers actually had another no hitter going into the 6th but it appears to be over now
― frogbs, Sunday, 12 September 2021 19:11 (four years ago)
44 runs over two days now.

joey votto, after getting called for a strike for going a smidge too far on a half-swing on a ball in the dirt in the 9th:
"..asdfljasdf..*clearly audible* FUCK YOU!....asl;dfas;kdf"
dan mclaughlin: "joey votto...clearly not happy about that call"

The Twins hate the Yankees so much because of all that postseason humiliation, so they've decided they're going to play New York really tough, and then they're going to lay down when the Blue Jays play them six times later this month.
― clemenza, Monday, 13 September 2021 20:18 (four years ago)
Yankees making it hard right now.

I posted a comparison somewhere a couple of years ago of how close Goldschmidt and Freeman were statistically. Freeman seemed to overtake him for good, and I kind of forget about them. But I noticed Goldschmidt hit his 25th tonight, and also that he played well enough last year to get some MVP support.
They're still amazingly close (and each other's #1 Similarity Score, 953.6--very high):
PG: 273 HR, 910 RBI, .292/.388/.518, 141 OPS+, 49.4 WARFF: 270 HR, 935 RBI, .295/.383/.509, 138 OPS+, 42.5 WAR
The WAR difference is mostly explained by Freeman being two years younger (31/33). At the end of his age-31 season, Goldschmidt was at...42.5 WAR!
I think you'd be hard-pressed to find two contemporary stars so in lockstep.
― clemenza, Tuesday, 14 September 2021 02:16 (four years ago)
Actually, Freeman broke in a year earlier, so that doesn't explain the WAR difference--it's all defense.
