Looked like it was on its way to happening, but they got 5 runs in the 9th inning to walk it off, with Baez scoring the winning run. Gary Cohen's voice cracked/jumped an octave during the final call. Apparently their first four-run ninth inning comeback in 10 years. Ya gotta believe?

After playing only Giants/Dodgers for 13 games (they went 2-11), they are now in the midst of playing only Marlins/Nats for 15 games in a row. Weird.

i'm very excited to listen to the mets broadcast crew today for a couple reasons. first, they're great, and i'm keith hernandez. but more importantly, i figure they will either not talk much at all about the thumbs down stuff, or talk about it briefly or in passing or something. the cardinals announcing team, whoever it is, will talk about it at length and find a way to spend an inning or two on it during each game of the series. somehow, they will have terrible opinions about it, and if jim edmonds is on, he'll have a just bonkers opinions of some sort and will then dan mclaughlin will start to apologize to him for disagreeing but stress that the facts are facts. at this, edmonds will double down and assert his opinion as the truth.

meanwhile over in the mets broadcast they appear to be enjoying a baseball game

for those not catching this game, so far the home plate ump called a pitch thrown near the middle of the zone a ball, the third base umpire called a ball that was at least 6-7 feet fair a foul ball, and the first base umpire's right cheek was smashed by an errant through by SS edmundo sosa. the umpire's attention was completely focused on first base, so he didn't see it coming at all.

i am worried about the final umpire at 2B.
