Turner losing his fucking mind right now. Dumb fucking cal imho. Way to make this game about the umpiring.

FRAUDULENT STEAKS (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 30 October 2019 02:47 (six years ago)

such a play is sposed to be nonreviewable, but they should do the right thing

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 30 October 2019 02:51 (six years ago)

This is the longest replay review ever.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Wednesday, 30 October 2019 02:51 (six years ago)

I'm glad they are looking at it. Too important

Bee OK, Wednesday, 30 October 2019 02:52 (six years ago)

The bag is in fair territory. What else can Turner do? The throw was late and inside. I’d say safe.

I guess I see why he was called out. Not as egregious as I first thought. Still not sure it was the right call...

FRAUDULENT STEAKS (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 30 October 2019 02:53 (six years ago)

I think it was the right call, unfortunately. Turner wasn't in the running lane at all; Guriel had no chance to catch it.

But who cares now!

clemenza, Wednesday, 30 October 2019 02:53 (six years ago)

lol the immediate cut to Turner

frogbs, Wednesday, 30 October 2019 02:53 (six years ago)

FUCK YEAHHHHHHHHHHH

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 30 October 2019 02:54 (six years ago)

Ha ha good on Rendon for putting this away. If the Astros eeked out two runs, we’d be hearing about this call forever.

FRAUDULENT STEAKS (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 30 October 2019 02:54 (six years ago)

“Putting this away”= making something of the inning.

FRAUDULENT STEAKS (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 30 October 2019 02:55 (six years ago)

I will say many bad words if Scherzer's out there on the mound.

clemenza, Wednesday, 30 October 2019 02:56 (six years ago)

The baseball gods made it right

Bee OK, Wednesday, 30 October 2019 02:56 (six years ago)

Scherzer gambit aborted I think

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 30 October 2019 02:57 (six years ago)

Martinez has to control his emotions there. Can't lose it like that.

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 30 October 2019 02:59 (six years ago)

Can't believe how livid Martinez was mid-inning in light of the HR.

clemenza, Wednesday, 30 October 2019 02:59 (six years ago)

the specifics of the discussion might've inflamed him

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 30 October 2019 03:06 (six years ago)

I was worried he was going to choke slam the ump he was being so aggressive.

FRAUDULENT STEAKS (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 30 October 2019 03:06 (six years ago)

Xpost - you mean him not being able to play under protest?

FRAUDULENT STEAKS (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 30 October 2019 03:07 (six years ago)

(Apparently)

Joe Torre was on the field conferring with an umpire in his executive capacity

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 30 October 2019 03:12 (six years ago)

Turner wasn't in the running lane at all; Guriel had no chance to catch it.

Hmmmm? Turner played no factor in the noncatch that I saw; Gurriel missed it before it hit Turner.

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 30 October 2019 03:16 (six years ago)

More Strasburg!

This would be his Matt Harvey moment, if it's happening.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Wednesday, 30 October 2019 03:18 (six years ago)

wtf my stream froze and he's out of the 8th already? damn

frogbs, Wednesday, 30 October 2019 03:20 (six years ago)

as Dan Shulman points out, the running lane is a bad rule anyway

that was a quick 8th!

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 30 October 2019 03:21 (six years ago)

I guess not (unless he's back for the ninth, which could happen).

xposts

NoTimeBeforeTime, Wednesday, 30 October 2019 03:21 (six years ago)

No one will agree, but I'd give him one baserunner. He's not pitching tomorrow, he's at 101 pitches, he's a free agent anyway, let him go out.

Bad rules are still rules.

clemenza, Wednesday, 30 October 2019 03:22 (six years ago)

I will agree

timellison, Wednesday, 30 October 2019 03:22 (six years ago)

I have no idea how he does after that many pitches but yeah I'd let him go until someone gets on

frogbs, Wednesday, 30 October 2019 03:23 (six years ago)

Stras has been looking better and better as this game goes on.

Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Wednesday, 30 October 2019 03:24 (six years ago)

Devenski pitching the ninth means that Hinch is already trying to save his best guys for Game 7.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Wednesday, 30 October 2019 03:25 (six years ago)

He's got Gurriel, Alvarez, Correa

timellison, Wednesday, 30 October 2019 03:25 (six years ago)

I didn’t even think he’d pull off four, the way he started the game.

FRAUDULENT STEAKS (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 30 October 2019 03:26 (six years ago)

Looks like Strasburg was headed to the showers?

Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Wednesday, 30 October 2019 03:28 (six years ago)

as a Mets fan, i'm glad they didn't call it on JC Martin in '69

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 30 October 2019 03:29 (six years ago)

xp: maybe he had to take a leak, looks like he's back in the dugout.

Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Wednesday, 30 October 2019 03:30 (six years ago)

Only 5 pitches in the 8th, they said.

FRAUDULENT STEAKS (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 30 October 2019 03:31 (six years ago)

weeeew

frogbs, Wednesday, 30 October 2019 03:32 (six years ago)

and we will see you to-morrow night

(I think)

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 30 October 2019 03:33 (six years ago)

That's what happens when you let the seventh best guy in the bullpen pitch the ninth in a close game.

Two more two out runs for the Nats!

NoTimeBeforeTime, Wednesday, 30 October 2019 03:33 (six years ago)

Wow great game

Bee OK, Wednesday, 30 October 2019 03:33 (six years ago)

Please don't needlessly burn a pitcher with a 5-run lead.

clemenza, Wednesday, 30 October 2019 03:34 (six years ago)

Good move

Bee OK, Wednesday, 30 October 2019 03:37 (six years ago)

No

Bee OK, Wednesday, 30 October 2019 03:37 (six years ago)

Utterly ridiculous.

clemenza, Wednesday, 30 October 2019 03:38 (six years ago)

Ben Clemens
11:37 Greinke looks like he just found out the World Series was going on and had to get out of bed to watch.

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 30 October 2019 03:38 (six years ago)

why

frogbs, Wednesday, 30 October 2019 03:38 (six years ago)

104 and no one on. They should have let him go

Bee OK, Wednesday, 30 October 2019 03:38 (six years ago)

That was possibly/probably Strasburg's last game with the Nationals. I know all about Matt Harvey...Does this sport have even an ounce of poetry left in it?
