"It's absolutely our hope and expectation" that Jed Lowrie will play for the Mets this season, Brodie Van Wagenen said. Lowrie has overcome his left side issues, but is still nursing a right calf injury.— Anthony DiComo (@AnthonyDiComo) August 14, 2019

Prior to Tuesday's game, the Mets called up Rajai Davis and optioned Walker Lockett.
Robert Gsellman has a partial lat tear and may be done for the 2019 season.

This is quite a run they are on, lots of fun to watch. JD Davis postgame interview was A+ /pure energy.
― Michael F Gill, Thursday, 22 August 2019 05:11 (four years ago) link
has anyone offered an explanation of why JD doesn't suck anymore?
― a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 22 August 2019 18:01 (four years ago) link
i don't think he ever did? he got 113 plate appearances last year over four separate big league stints, which is a tough situation for most anyone
that said, he almost has to hit this well to offset his defense -- a perfect met
― mookieproof, Thursday, 22 August 2019 18:45 (four years ago) link
fair point on the 4 stints, but when they got him i looked at the stats and just thought "someone the Astros couldn't fix". i guess they didn't try hard enough.
― a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 22 August 2019 18:58 (four years ago) link
i think it's less that they didn't try than that they're so loaded there was no room for him
they also gave up on a.j. reed, but i don't think he's gonna make a comeback. not really a good sign when you're a two-time minor league homer champ
― mookieproof, Thursday, 22 August 2019 19:29 (four years ago) link

Callaway said "it's really hard to say" if Edwin Diaz's trap tightness is something that could land him on the injured list.Diaz was far more upbeat about the issue, saying he's not worried about it and doesn't consider it serious at all.— Anthony DiComo (@AnthonyDiComo) August 25, 2019

Nimmo back. Maybe Cano and Lowrie later this week?
In hindsight, looks like Mets lucked out in signing Ramos instead of Grandal.
― Michael F Gill, Sunday, 1 September 2019 20:45 (four years ago) link
How?
― Van Horn Street, Sunday, 1 September 2019 20:48 (four years ago) link
Way higher batting average, same amount of RBIs for a cheaper price? Grandal does have more power though.
― Michael F Gill, Sunday, 1 September 2019 20:58 (four years ago) link
And better OBP, and much much better defense. He is twice the price for three times the value.
― Van Horn Street, Sunday, 1 September 2019 21:13 (four years ago) link
Marginally better OBP? My memory of his defense is definitely clouded by his postseason performance last year though.
― Michael F Gill, Sunday, 1 September 2019 22:41 (four years ago) link
What I'm saying is that a higher average is null if the other player both has a higher OBP and slugging.
Grandal has been excellent this season at defensive catching (he always is).
