Here’s a hot take on Rays top prospect Wander Franco.

The 18-year-old shortstop playing at Class A Bowling Green had to leave Thursday’s game at Lake County (outside Cleveland) in the third inning because he was too hot.

With temperatures in the 40s, Franco, who is from the Dominican Republic and never played in such cold before this week, tried to be better prepared for the final game of the series.

But he applied too much of a gel players use to keep warm, according to a team official, and after batting for the second time felt too uncomfortable to keep playing.

"You cannot make this up," the team official said.

The Tigers have placed Jordan Zimmerman on the DL with a UCL sprain.

Dodgers place Corey Seager on the injured list with a hamstring strain.

The A’s announced that outfielder Stephen Piscotty underwent a successful surgery Thursday to remove a melanoma from his right ear and is resting comfortably at home.

Piscotty will be evaluated daily as he awaits further information from a pathology report, and the A’s expect him to return to the club within the next week.

Sean Newcomb just took a hard line drive off the base of his skull. He walked off under his own power and was even chuckling about it a little, but I'm sure they'll be keeping a really close watch overnight.
