dodgers hit 8 homers on opening day. if this is van scoyoc's doing, i'm all in.

John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt, Thursday, 28 March 2019 22:47 (seven years ago)

no personality would be an improvement on the pirates tv crew

mookieproof, Thursday, 28 March 2019 22:51 (seven years ago)

Briefly had the urge to get MLB The Show 19 until I looked up what a PS4 Pro costs.

Greta Van Show Feets BB (milo z), Thursday, 28 March 2019 23:07 (seven years ago)

I’m really liking it. But I’ve only played about 6 hours of it.

John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt, Thursday, 28 March 2019 23:35 (seven years ago)

same

Karl Malone, Thursday, 28 March 2019 23:48 (seven years ago)

did i already complain about opening day taking place during the afternoon of a weekday? sure was fun to read the boxscore of my favorite team's game after it was over

Karl Malone, Thursday, 28 March 2019 23:49 (seven years ago)

It's just hard to drop $400 + the game when I already have an XBox and only play one or two games a year.

Greta Van Show Feets BB (milo z), Thursday, 28 March 2019 23:56 (seven years ago)

if the Indians score more than zero runs per game this year I will be surprised

brownie, Friday, 29 March 2019 00:22 (seven years ago)

the day after opening day is always such a buzzkill

na (NA), Friday, 29 March 2019 15:32 (seven years ago)

was hoping royals/white sox would get rained out yesterday so we'd have a day game today

That’s really cool.

There’s a great track on The Show 19 by High Tatras. They’ve only released one EP and info on them on the internet is very scarce. I assume the band either know someone at SDS or someone there is a fan of super unknown indie music. Anyway, I can’t find the track from The Show 19 anywhere.

John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt, Friday, 29 March 2019 16:59 (seven years ago)

Seems weird to play on Thursday and then not play on a Friday night.

3 HRs for goldschmidt, and hopefully a chance for 4 in the 9th. the lone out he made tonight was a screaming line drive to deep center at 108 mph EV

Karl Malone, Saturday, 30 March 2019 03:15 (seven years ago)

that's like as many HRs as he hit in the first 2 months last season.

Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Saturday, 30 March 2019 03:50 (seven years ago)

mookieproof, Saturday, 30 March 2019 04:35 (seven years ago)

bagel bites?

Karl Malone, Saturday, 30 March 2019 05:21 (seven years ago)

I didn't believe it at first, but when the Padres won on opening day, it was the first time they were over .500 since June 8, 2015.

trevor rosenthal's return: four batters, three hits, one walk, four runs and the dreaded INF ERA

mookieproof, Saturday, 30 March 2019 19:52 (seven years ago)

Was literally just coming here to post that. Love an ERA of infinity.

Michael F Gill, Saturday, 30 March 2019 19:55 (seven years ago)

At tonight's Dodgers game, Kenta Maeda's pre-at-bat music is "Slow Down" by Lights Follow, the international theme to Terrace House.

Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Sunday, 31 March 2019 04:03 (seven years ago)

Arizona took a beating!

John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt, Sunday, 31 March 2019 04:26 (seven years ago)

lol maeda, that's awesome

Karl Malone, Sunday, 31 March 2019 15:49 (seven years ago)

This Cubs-Rangers game is wild, 10-10 in the 8th.

16 Historic English ILXors You Must Explore Soon (WmC), Sunday, 31 March 2019 23:24 (seven years ago)

Ended...wildly.

Andy K, Sunday, 31 March 2019 23:56 (seven years ago)

E. Inciarte homered (413 ft.) to deep right. on M. Zagunis's fielding error

Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Monday, 1 April 2019 23:42 (seven years ago)

okay: dropped foul ball, next pitch goes over the fence. lead off HR (unearned)

Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Monday, 1 April 2019 23:44 (seven years ago)

Cubs w/5 errors through 4.1 innings, dang.

Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Wednesday, 3 April 2019 03:46 (seven years ago)

as a Brewer fan who's watched 4 different starters lose an entire season because they got hurt running the bases, I'm gonna have to disagree

frogbs, Wednesday, 3 April 2019 14:40 (seven years ago)

they need to learn how to hit the long ball.

Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Wednesday, 3 April 2019 14:47 (seven years ago)

clearly they need more calcium!

trevor rosenthal: not just INF but 7 x INF

3 G, 0 IP, 7 BF, 4 H, 3 BB, 7 R

mookieproof, Wednesday, 3 April 2019 20:27 (seven years ago)

even worse if you consider last year

Trevor Rosenthal has made 4 consecutive appearances in which he did not get an out and allowed at least 1 run (active streak extended today).

That's the longest streak of outings allowing at least a run without recording an out since at least 1908.

I don’t mind Braden’s commenting for the A’s but they don’t need to cut to a closeup of his face every other out.

chris davis is 0-for-15 with nine strikeouts

mookieproof, Thursday, 4 April 2019 19:44 (seven years ago)

...is that better than last year?

Karl Malone, Thursday, 4 April 2019 19:47 (seven years ago)

he does have four walks, so . . . maybe

mookieproof, Thursday, 4 April 2019 19:48 (seven years ago)

since the O's have no win goals this year, do they let him duplicate 2018?

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 4 April 2019 19:55 (seven years ago)

will the O's play above replacement level this year?

Karl Malone, Thursday, 4 April 2019 19:56 (seven years ago)

so, joey gallo is good at the videogames. he went 4-0 last night. eduardo rodriguez, on the other hand, went 0-4 and didn't score in any of the games

i picked a random game to watch, if anyone's interested: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/588772479

that's blake snell v amir garrett

brooklyn suicide cult (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 14 April 2020 14:02 (six years ago)

just curious - what is everyone's reaction to the whole cactus/grapefruit league, baseball in empty stadiums idea?

i would watch it for sure. but what happens when one player (or staff or coach, etc) tests positive? it seems likely to end in a bunch of build-up followed by shutting it down 3 weeks in or something

let me be your friend on the other end! (Karl Malone), Tuesday, 14 April 2020 14:57 (six years ago)

i think it's insane, for reasons mentioned by demause above, but the money being hemorrhaged demands that they throw any and all possibilities at the wall

mookieproof, Tuesday, 14 April 2020 15:03 (six years ago)

also the idea of being the only sport playing live games is extremely enticing

mookieproof, Tuesday, 14 April 2020 15:05 (six years ago)

I think it's a terrible idea, and one that I just can't see happening.

clemenza, Tuesday, 14 April 2020 17:08 (six years ago)

even if you solved the quarantine/testing part -- which is not to my knowledge actually solvable -- there are only 10 cactus league ballparks + chase field in arizona. to air live games in primetime on the east coast would mean starting games at 5-7 pm, when it's insanely fucking hot

the florida parks are more spread out, i don't think all of them are presently equipped for tv, and it rains every damn day

and despite the players very much wanting to play, i don't see that many of them wanting to either quarantine without their families for four and a half months or drag their families into a situation like that

mookieproof, Tuesday, 14 April 2020 17:49 (six years ago)

agreed, I highly doubt anything at all is gonna happen

top five did all go in the first round -- monteleone had a journeyman career (2.6 war over 10 seasons), boderick didn't get out of a ball, ledbetter made it to double a
