I'm not sure Arenado has a play, seems like it could become a tactic?

Van Horn Street, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 04:17 (seven years ago)

at the end of the day it works out for the Rockies - Hamels is out and the Cubs are all out of players

frogbs, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 04:20 (seven years ago)

Really, only one guy?

Bee OK, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 04:23 (seven years ago)

Maddon burning potentially three starters is him understanding his squad won’t get past the Brewers right?

Van Horn Street, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 04:25 (seven years ago)

it's already the point where we curse Tony LaRussa's invention of the 8-man bullpen

u SOB

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 3 October 2018 04:26 (seven years ago)

yeah this works out nice for us

frogbs, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 04:27 (seven years ago)

ok surely THIS will be the Cubs' inning

frogbs, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 04:29 (seven years ago)

hey VHS, u gotta get to tomorrow

and Oakland has hardly any starters

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 3 October 2018 04:29 (seven years ago)

It burns Hamels that he threw 29 pitches?

timellison, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 04:31 (seven years ago)

good ass game!

k3vin k., Wednesday, 3 October 2018 04:33 (seven years ago)

Close

Bee OK, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 04:33 (seven years ago)

Why aren't they screaming at each other?

Bee OK, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 04:33 (seven years ago)

jfc I gotta go to bed

frogbs, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 04:34 (seven years ago)

Well I don’t see Hamels starting game 1 now.

Morbs you are right, it’s just that instinctively I would have gotten more outs from Strop. And De La Rosa still available.

Van Horn Street, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 04:34 (seven years ago)

Dang six straight sliders to strike Bryant out and (following on Gameday) the last one looked like the only one in the strike zone

timellison, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 04:40 (seven years ago)

It’s just that Black now has his second best reliever pitching whereas Maddon asked 2 starters in relief, if the Cubs win, its not because they outmanaged the opponent.

Van Horn Street, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 04:41 (seven years ago)

Cubs pitchers really meatballing the first pitch of the at-bat over and over again

frogbs, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 04:42 (seven years ago)

please tell me no one actually calls Arenado and Story "Batman and Robin" and that it's something A-Rod just made up

frogbs, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 04:44 (seven years ago)

I haven't heard it before tonight

Bee OK, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 04:45 (seven years ago)

It’s a classic Arodism.

Van Horn Street, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 04:47 (seven years ago)

who the fuck just hit that

frogbs, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 04:49 (seven years ago)

Omg Wolters lol

Van Horn Street, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 04:50 (seven years ago)

Tony Wolters lmao

frogbs, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 04:50 (seven years ago)

Do you believe in miracles?

Bee OK, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 04:51 (seven years ago)

it's amazing what heroes are in october or whatever vasgersian said

k3vin k., Wednesday, 3 October 2018 04:52 (seven years ago)

Rox were like 0-18 with men on so I guess someone was due

frogbs, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 04:53 (seven years ago)

A nice time to remind everyone that the Rockies run differential is of +35. The less by a team that wasn’t in the negative.

Van Horn Street, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 04:53 (seven years ago)

whatsa wolters?

A-Rod just came out for littleball a la Joe Morgan. does he recall last October?

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 3 October 2018 04:55 (seven years ago)

It didn't hit him?

Bee OK, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 05:00 (seven years ago)

no way did it hit him

frogbs, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 05:01 (seven years ago)

chris paul ass move by gore I love it

k3vin k., Wednesday, 3 October 2018 05:02 (seven years ago)

wow if Gore doesn't swing there he'd probably be on 3rd w/ no outs right now

frogbs, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 05:04 (seven years ago)

Great game.

Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Wednesday, 3 October 2018 05:06 (seven years ago)

RIP cubbies

k3vin k., Wednesday, 3 October 2018 05:07 (seven years ago)

Beautiful, just beautiful.

Really ugly strikeouts by Gore and Baez.

Van Horn Street, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 05:07 (seven years ago)

At least the right team won

Bee OK, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 05:07 (seven years ago)

Cub fans can put their Bears stuff on now

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 3 October 2018 05:08 (seven years ago)

Two games at home, only needed to win one of them, two runs scored in 22 innings, the Cubs can only blame themselves.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 05:11 (seven years ago)

what a nice morning

mookieproof, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 12:58 (seven years ago)

still thinking about Gore at 3-2 w/ no outs, the announcers saying "you really should not swing at this", and then Gore striking out on a curve that was like 8 inches out of the zone. I don't think they'd catch him stealing 2nd or 3rd so chances are the Cubs at least tie it. if only he'd listened to A-Rod. oh well

frogbs, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 13:16 (seven years ago)

pretty representative game for this season's cubs, where they really struggled with run production for some reason. lots of losses where they got 1 or 0 runs.

na (NA), Wednesday, 3 October 2018 14:09 (seven years ago)

I find it insane they won 95 games, considering everything that happened. They need another starter and probably another hitter. And one fewer shortstop.

omar little, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 15:25 (seven years ago)

Is Colorado eliminating Chicago good news for the Brewers?

Guayaquil (eephus!), Wednesday, 3 October 2018 15:30 (seven years ago)

we'll know in a week

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 3 October 2018 15:34 (seven years ago)

probably, Cubs are a better team and you don't really get home field advantage against them

that said the Cubs have played an insane # of games in the last 5-6 weeks and it was starting to show. plus they burned 3 starters in that game.

frogbs, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 15:39 (seven years ago)

home teams now 5-8 in wild card games

mookieproof, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 15:41 (seven years ago)

let's hope it's 5-9 tomorrow

lol, that hug was a funny and weird moment. i'm imagining there were plenty of cubs bros who were mad at baez for showing any sort of affection for a player on the other team during a wild card game, though. and although it wouldn't be a big deal the vast majority of the time, once of the announcers (i forget who) was correct in noting that it shouldn't be allowed to do that during a live play, because one of the runners on first or second could have tripped and fallen on the basepaths (for example) and arenado would've been hindered from throwing him out.

Karl Malone, Wednesday, 3 October 2018 16:32 (seven years ago)

While I agree that the hug shouldn't happen while the ball is live, Arenado seemed intent on not making a play and went for the hug as much as Baez did.
