he needs that, plus baez and arenado not adding on to their respective RBI and HR stats
there have never been multiple games 163 before

curious what these teams would do if someone jumped out to a big lead early

frogbs, Monday, 1 October 2018 14:15 (seven years ago)

i am very worried about the brewers jumping out to a big lead early, given their bullpen. the cubs bullpen has been unreliable lately so they'd need to get a pretty big lead before i felt like i could relax. quintana starting for the cubs is not giving me much hope, though he's had success against the brewers

na (NA), Monday, 1 October 2018 14:30 (seven years ago)

Keeping Hamels for the potential WC game or Game 1 is smart.

Van Horn Street, Monday, 1 October 2018 14:57 (seven years ago)

i appreciate the fact that the NL playoff team to miss the division series will have to lose two in a row rather than one. but it's kind of weird that all four teams have a better record than the braves

teams with positive run differentials that missed the playoffs: rays, cardinals, d-backs, nationals

xp do u mean lester

mookieproof, Monday, 1 October 2018 15:03 (seven years ago)

Yeah the Rays, 7 games behind the Wild Card, has the same record as the Braves.

Van Horn Street, Monday, 1 October 2018 15:05 (seven years ago)

yeah i know why they're using quintana today, it just makes me nervous.

i think i have more confidence in hendricks than in lester or hamels right now but that might be insane. presumably they'd all be available to pitch parts of a potential wild card game.

na (NA), Monday, 1 October 2018 15:07 (seven years ago)

Home/Away splits don't favor Quintana.

Van Horn Street, Monday, 1 October 2018 15:40 (seven years ago)

In any case go Bru Cru.

Van Horn Street, Monday, 1 October 2018 16:49 (seven years ago)

i presumed this game was on ESPN Radio, but the NY OUTLET HAS SOME JERK YOWLING ABOUT FOOTBALL

Quintana's been pretty great this year vs. Milwaukee though

frogbs, Monday, 1 October 2018 17:09 (seven years ago)

been pretty hot over the last month as well, no?

Mad Piratical (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Monday, 1 October 2018 17:43 (seven years ago)

man Baez is fun

Van Horn Street, Monday, 1 October 2018 17:45 (seven years ago)

no Cub hits thru 4

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Monday, 1 October 2018 18:11 (seven years ago)

if he can get through 6 I'll feel a lot better. Hader hasn't pitched in a couple of days, could potentially go 2 here

frogbs, Monday, 1 October 2018 18:19 (seven years ago)

ESPN’s sound dude has lost control.

Van Horn Street, Monday, 1 October 2018 18:20 (seven years ago)

wow Rizzo murdered that one

frogbs, Monday, 1 October 2018 18:21 (seven years ago)

yelich

mookieproof, Monday, 1 October 2018 18:31 (seven years ago)

Project wolverine going great.

Van Horn Street, Monday, 1 October 2018 18:38 (seven years ago)

can anyone tell me which broadcast team is the least bad here? i'm switching between the two feeds and I'm leaning towards the Brewers guys.

Mad Piratical (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Monday, 1 October 2018 18:43 (seven years ago)

Yelich on deck for a good spot.

Van Horn Street, Monday, 1 October 2018 19:17 (seven years ago)

Rooting for the beyond epic three run homer from Yelich.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Monday, 1 October 2018 19:25 (seven years ago)

darn.

but then Braun hitting a homer now would be hilarious.

Van Horn Street, Monday, 1 October 2018 19:29 (seven years ago)

why on earth was braun running there

mookieproof, Monday, 1 October 2018 19:36 (seven years ago)

It was supposed to be a delayed steal of home?

Why risk running yourself out of a big inning like that? Brutal overmanaging there.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Monday, 1 October 2018 19:39 (seven years ago)

i knew things were going to go bad when brandon kintzler came in to pitch

na (NA), Monday, 1 October 2018 19:40 (seven years ago)

Aguilar hits into a ton of DPs so the steal makes some sense

frogbs, Monday, 1 October 2018 19:42 (seven years ago)

anyway if Hader & Jeffress can't get it done then its not meant to be

frogbs, Monday, 1 October 2018 19:43 (seven years ago)

really can't pull for Milw w/ Hader around

don't really like any NL teams aside from LA (for Kershaw and Puig)

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Monday, 1 October 2018 19:45 (seven years ago)

ok i'm getting nervous now. 3 more!!!!!!

forgot what this feeling was like

frogbs, Monday, 1 October 2018 19:50 (seven years ago)

C'mon Morbs, the Pirates are loveable. xpost

Van Horn Street, Monday, 1 October 2018 19:51 (seven years ago)

i find milwaukee pretty likeable except for hader and braun

na (NA), Monday, 1 October 2018 19:52 (seven years ago)

Cain, Granderson, Yelich, Perralta, Chacin, Thames, Davies, Shaw are all very likeable players.

Van Horn Street, Monday, 1 October 2018 19:54 (seven years ago)

lol had no memory of Granderson ending up there

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Monday, 1 October 2018 19:56 (seven years ago)

first career four-hit game for arcia

mookieproof, Monday, 1 October 2018 19:58 (seven years ago)

i do wonder what percentage of this brewers team was there a year ago

na (NA), Monday, 1 October 2018 20:01 (seven years ago)

was really expecting baez to swing at that 3-0 pitch

mookieproof, Monday, 1 October 2018 20:06 (seven years ago)

great at-bat tho

mookieproof, Monday, 1 October 2018 20:09 (seven years ago)

Congrats frogbs, hoping the Brewers make the World Series.

Van Horn Street, Monday, 1 October 2018 20:13 (seven years ago)

Collective heart attack when the camera zoomed way out on that Bryant fly ball

I wonder where Jeffress was? Wasn’t even warming up

frogbs, Monday, 1 October 2018 20:18 (seven years ago)

Sutcliffe and Ross on the same telecast. Boy.

Andy K, Monday, 1 October 2018 20:41 (seven years ago)

Dodger stadium is empty

frogbs, Monday, 1 October 2018 20:59 (seven years ago)

Uh.

Andy K, Monday, 1 October 2018 23:24 (seven years ago)

N/m.

Andy K, Monday, 1 October 2018 23:32 (seven years ago)

Cubs deserved to lose after that god awful rendition of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” by Mike Ditka. That was one of the worst things I’ve ever heard

frogbs, Tuesday, 2 October 2018 00:00 (seven years ago)

Ditka was the worst thing to happen to Chicago sports let alone the Bears.

omar little, Tuesday, 2 October 2018 00:22 (seven years ago)

Dodger stadium is empty

Reported attendance was about 37 K (> 80 percent full) but maybe that was in the middle innings? Seeing the stadium so empty at the start of the game was ... weird.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Tuesday, 2 October 2018 09:23 (seven years ago)

NARRATOR'S VOICE: It's always empty for the first few innings (and often the last few).
