Josh Hader is in damage control mode over some terrible tweets:

Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Wednesday, 18 July 2018 05:47 (seven years ago)

Presuming he shows UNFAILINGLY sincere remorse, I suspect there should be a year or two of diverse community outreach in Hader's future.

it is kind of amazing that athletes don't scrub their social media after making it to the pros.

frogbs, Wednesday, 18 July 2018 14:17 (seven years ago)

wow those tweets are wretched. at first i thought they might be fake because they were almost too brutal to be believed.

Mad Piratical (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 18 July 2018 15:12 (seven years ago)

xpost
or their agents

on the plus side for hader, he's extremely talented so the yankees or the dodgers will give him a nice contract in a few years, regardless of him being a terrible asshole

Karl Malone, Wednesday, 18 July 2018 16:21 (seven years ago)

He's getting diversity training per MLB press release. We'll see perhaps if it was just a 17yo asshole phase.

the ignatius rock of ignorance (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 18 July 2018 17:58 (seven years ago)

I played HS sports and yeah, it doesn't really surprise me to see this. difference is back in *my* day our dumb thoughts weren't posted to social media and archived for all of eternity (I'm 32)

frogbs, Wednesday, 18 July 2018 18:04 (seven years ago)

That ovation for Hader just now appeared to be 100% white and male.

Andy K, Sunday, 22 July 2018 01:39 (seven years ago)

they just gave him an ovation? puke

Karl Malone, Sunday, 22 July 2018 01:54 (seven years ago)

yea not exactly great optics there

on the other hand Muncy is having a pretty eventful day

frogbs, Sunday, 22 July 2018 02:04 (seven years ago)

100% white and almost exclusively male -- excuse me.

that's pretty bad but just wait until the pirates call up jung-ho kang and *he* gets an ovation

Suter out with a UCL, Tommy John likely

really sucks for him, he was one of my favorite players on the team but also the sort of middling pitcher who most likely won't come back from this :/

frogbs, Monday, 23 July 2018 21:51 (seven years ago)

startin to think the Chacin pickup was the small market move of the offseason

frogbs, Tuesday, 24 July 2018 02:29 (seven years ago)

one month passes...

that was an amazing 15th

Karl Malone, Saturday, 25 August 2018 05:48 (seven years ago)

Thought it was all over when their last hope with 2 outs was a relief pitcher coming to a plate, but wow.

Michael F Gill, Saturday, 25 August 2018 20:41 (seven years ago)

I was at that game. was awesome

wonder how often a team goes scoreless for 13 consecutive innings and still wins

frogbs, Monday, 27 August 2018 03:59 (seven years ago)

The Brew Crew / Reds game tonight has turned into a beer league soft ball game.

earlnash, Thursday, 30 August 2018 02:01 (seven years ago)

yeah this game has been insane. Yelich having the game of his career: 5 for 5, a cycle, and an outfield assist. Moose not doing too bad either

frogbs, Thursday, 30 August 2018 02:49 (seven years ago)

6 for 6 now. And yet the Brewers are on the verge of blowing another 19 hit night, thanks to bad pitching, a bunch of fluke plays, and some real questionable umping decisions

frogbs, Thursday, 30 August 2018 03:18 (seven years ago)

wound up being a 22 hit night and they needed all 22 of them, holy shit this game

frogbs, Thursday, 30 August 2018 03:56 (seven years ago)

Reds are terrible, but they have played in a handful of just totally bonkers games this year.

earlnash, Thursday, 30 August 2018 12:20 (seven years ago)

the mlb recap video of this game starts in the seventh inning

na (NA), Thursday, 30 August 2018 12:21 (seven years ago)

Yelich is really impressive. His build and swing reminds me of Von Hayes, but Yelich is a better player.

earlnash, Thursday, 30 August 2018 12:21 (seven years ago)

Reds are terrible, but they have played in a handful of just totally bonkers games this year.

Milwaukee have too - I was at the game Friday where they were held scoreless for 13 innings and still walked it off with a 3-run 15th. using the bottom of their order too

Brewers-Reds games have been nuts this year, though unfortunately the subtext always seems to be "HOW THE HELL COULD YOU LET SCOOTER GENNETT GO??"

frogbs, Thursday, 30 August 2018 13:20 (seven years ago)

btw I'm glad they won so I don't have to be upset about this anymore

frogbs, Thursday, 30 August 2018 13:25 (seven years ago)

that was definitely b.s.

na (NA), Thursday, 30 August 2018 14:48 (seven years ago)

speaking of bs, Irvin was out by a mile there

frogbs, Thursday, 30 August 2018 18:24 (seven years ago)

Yelich 6 for 6! I don't care about the cycle.

Reds getting Scooter Gennett was pay back for Bill Hall hitting like Rogers Hornsby against the Reds for a few years. I swear one year he hit 11 home runs for the season and like 8 of them were against the Reds.

Jay Bruce used to hit big against the Brewers, don't know if it has continued with the Mets (probably not).

last 10 ABs vs. Hader: 1H, 9K

frogbs, Thursday, 13 September 2018 02:53 (seven years ago)

seven consecutive series victories, now only 1 back in division, guys I AM FEELING IT

frogbs, Thursday, 13 September 2018 03:24 (seven years ago)

Re: Hader, I haven't seen such filthy cheddar since the heyday of roided up closers like Gagne & Rivera.

Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Tuesday, 18 September 2018 01:26 (seven years ago)

Yelich hit for another cycle today. How many batters have done it twice in a month ?

frogbs, Tuesday, 18 September 2018 01:56 (seven years ago)

Even better: both cycles were completed with a triple. That's got to be a first in-season.

clemenza, Tuesday, 18 September 2018 02:03 (seven years ago)

both cycles against the reds also

na (NA), Tuesday, 18 September 2018 02:50 (seven years ago)

Heard this morning that two times against the same team in the same season is a first. There might be three firsts involved in this.

clemenza, Tuesday, 18 September 2018 11:19 (seven years ago)

Reds glad to help in the MVP race. I think Yelich is hitting like .500 against the Reds this year.

earlnash, Tuesday, 18 September 2018 15:02 (seven years ago)

counsell starts dan jennings and pulls him after one batter (matt carpenter). september baseball!

Karl Malone, Tuesday, 25 September 2018 00:33 (seven years ago)

LOOG-y starter then send in a Righty?

Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Tuesday, 25 September 2018 00:40 (seven years ago)

guess so! carpenter has been slumping for about a month now so i'm not sure it was necessary for today's game, but still pretty interesting to see counsell do something like that in this final week.

Karl Malone, Tuesday, 25 September 2018 00:41 (seven years ago)

Huh, that's a scenario I never thought of before. If a starter comes out after one unretired batter and the 2nd pitcher throws 4.2 innings and comes out with 2 outs in the 5th, is the 2nd pitcher eligible for the win in relief even though he wouldn't have been eligible as a starter?

WmC, Tuesday, 25 September 2018 00:45 (seven years ago)

It's up to the scorer.

Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Tuesday, 25 September 2018 01:04 (seven years ago)

can't believe Counsell pulled Jennings in the middle of a perfect game

frogbs, Tuesday, 25 September 2018 02:27 (seven years ago)

wasn't it an UltraOpener move?

anyway, looking good for the Brewers, and i hope they play the Rockies.

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 25 September 2018 11:28 (seven years ago)

yea given our history of getting knocked out by the Cardinals I'd be happy to not have to face them in a do-or-die game

gotta say I've liked the way Counsell has managed these last few weeks, as though every game is a playoff game. they're 23-10 since 8/20, back when their playoff chances were something like 30-40%.

frogbs, Tuesday, 25 September 2018 13:03 (seven years ago)

congrats brewers

destroy the cubs

Karl Malone, Thursday, 27 September 2018 02:37 (seven years ago)

apologies that the pirates are unlikely to pull off a sweep in chicago
