DA EDGE had quite a game last night ... and Gomez is back.

Dr Morbius, Saturday, 8 September 2007 15:40 (eighteen years ago)

today's game was fun, nice 'stros sweep.

hstencil, Sunday, 9 September 2007 21:49 (eighteen years ago)

PEDRO MARTNZ IS TEH BEST PITCHER EVER AND U GUYS ARE THE BEST ASSHOLES EVER FYI

jhøshea, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 06:32 (eighteen years ago)

i enjoyed watching pedro pitch sunday, yes.

hstencil, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 07:39 (eighteen years ago)

what OF gets dropped from playoff roster? no Gomez?

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 13 September 2007 16:52 (eighteen years ago)

I don't know if Mota will make the post season roster, I'd take Schoenweiss or Mr. Witness Protection Program over him at the moment.

Leee, Friday, 14 September 2007 19:06 (eighteen years ago)

this may or may not be relevant in an hour, but who could go to tomorrow's game?

Dr Morbius, Friday, 14 September 2007 19:08 (eighteen years ago)

never mind. (but bucket caps to be had)

Dr Morbius, Friday, 14 September 2007 21:22 (eighteen years ago)

hey hstencil did you just ride the f train to brooklyn?

mookieproof, Saturday, 15 September 2007 04:54 (eighteen years ago)

uh, no, i am dog-sitting in the l.e.s. why do you ask, mp?

hstencil, Sunday, 16 September 2007 01:51 (eighteen years ago)

er i mean, do you mean earlier this evening after the game? why yes i did.

hstencil, Sunday, 16 September 2007 01:52 (eighteen years ago)

nah, i meant friday night around midnight. dude got on at 14th st that seemed hstencilish, with the caveat that i've never actually met you.

mookieproof, Sunday, 16 September 2007 05:15 (eighteen years ago)

nope, around midnight i was watching blues control at cakeshop, wasn't me.

hstencil, Sunday, 16 September 2007 17:42 (eighteen years ago)

mets meltdown against the phillies, again. ugh.

hstencil, Sunday, 16 September 2007 18:01 (eighteen years ago)

so fucking weak.

hstencil, Sunday, 16 September 2007 19:52 (eighteen years ago)

I mostly avoided yesterday's game, but it can only get better after 11 walks and 6 errors.

wtf is with Willie sticking with Mota and pissing off Wagner? BW denied that he asked for Saturday off, so someone is lying.

Dr Morbius, Monday, 17 September 2007 13:00 (eighteen years ago)

and why the HELL is BRIAN LAWRENCE pitching tonight???

Dr Morbius, Monday, 17 September 2007 13:30 (eighteen years ago)

wright 30-30 eh? i had no idea that hojo had ever stolen 30 bases.

mookieproof, Monday, 17 September 2007 15:47 (eighteen years ago)

Mike (NY): Do you think the no trade of Humber and Gomez/Milledge for Cordero will comeback to haunt the Mets. The Mets bullpen has been awful lately and is a huge concern heading into the playoffs.

Joe Sheehan: Adding one second-tier reliever to the mix wouldn't change things all that much. There's no way that two months-plus of Cordero, plus his rights for the next few years, was worth Humber and Gomez.
We, as fans, react way too strongly to fluctuations in performance. The Mets' bullpen is a strength, even lacking one shutdown righty in the eighth.

Dr Morbius, Monday, 17 September 2007 17:11 (eighteen years ago)

do you want to go to the game tomorrow night, morbs?

hstencil, Monday, 17 September 2007 18:12 (eighteen years ago)

on the Chinatown bus to DC?

Dr Morbius, Monday, 17 September 2007 18:52 (eighteen years ago)

(hstencil is more elusive in the #7 station than Fernando Rey in The French Connection)

Dr Morbius, Monday, 17 September 2007 18:53 (eighteen years ago)

why'd i think it was at shea?

dude i was standing at the very front for like 15 minutes! it's not hard to figure out.

hstencil, Monday, 17 September 2007 19:01 (eighteen years ago)

well, we bet on the back. You can't wander more than 8 feet away from 40somethings.

Dr Morbius, Monday, 17 September 2007 19:07 (eighteen years ago)

esp. ones who don't own cell phones. oh well. it was still fun despite the loss.

hstencil, Monday, 17 September 2007 19:13 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, intra-platform calls, I miss all of those.

Did you know Saturday was Faith Day at Shea? The church groups musta been the ones brawling with the Phillie fans!

Dr Morbius, Monday, 17 September 2007 19:15 (eighteen years ago)

hard to have faith when the phillies pwn ur team, ja.

hstencil, Monday, 17 September 2007 19:29 (eighteen years ago)

you know, it's one thing if brian lawrence gives up a few runs--but it's kind of another thing if each of yr five relievers gives up a run+.

The Mets' bullpen is a strength, even lacking one shutdown righty in the eighth.

mookieproof, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 03:42 (eighteen years ago)

I just realized that the final two weeks of the NL East pennant race will come down to who can pile up more wins against Washington and Florida.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 13:19 (eighteen years ago)

xp to m'proof: small sample size

The Mets are having the Yankees' May in September. The Nats are pitching Hanrahan and Chico the next 2 nights. THEN it'll be time to panic.

Dr Morbius, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 13:20 (eighteen years ago)

who can pile up more wins against Washington and Florida.

Not entirely; the Phils play Atlanta.

Dr Morbius, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 13:49 (eighteen years ago)

did the mets used to like, win games? it's a different meltdown every day!

Michael F Gill, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 01:19 (eighteen years ago)

y'know, even if the mets can still win the division, and IT'S LOOKING LIKE THIS MIGHT NOT HAPPEN, do you really think they are going anywhere with a very hittable Perez, an atrocious Maine and a not exactly sure thing in Martinez? (Hernandez is gone - lol senior citizens)
and it would be nice for Reyes to fucking get hot when they desperately need him.
the fact that i have no faith in this curiously gutless team doing much in the post-season is making their collapse not that big of a deal, oddly.

(and this is the part where I gripe again about that Bannister trade, if they had him in the five spot all year they would have fucking clinched by now)

gershy, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 06:05 (eighteen years ago)

Comfort for Mets fans: Mets/Phillies are simply playing the Cards/Astros roles from 2006.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 11:31 (eighteen years ago)

yes, 2007 Cardinals NEVER FORGET!

IF the Mets win 90, I don't think the Phils will tie them (not with that pitching). And if the Mets can't go 7-5 the rest of the way, especially with the horrid pitchers Florida will be throwing vs them, they don't deserve to win.

It would be nice to have some reliable pitchers under 40 next year, Omar.

Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 13:38 (eighteen years ago)

duh ^2006 Cards^

Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 13:38 (eighteen years ago)

Josh Towers in '08?

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 13:54 (eighteen years ago)

and a not exactly sure thing in Martinez?

3 starts, 2 wins, 1.69 era, 17 k, 4 bb (!), 1.38 whip...

ie what the fuck are you talking about? he's been fine. better than fine, even.

hstencil, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 18:17 (eighteen years ago)

perhaps he meant the cloud of potential reinjury.

Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 18:55 (eighteen years ago)

lotsa evidence for that, sure.

hstencil, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 19:10 (eighteen years ago)

The 2006 White Sox also backed into the playoffs to only turn it on and win it all.

earlnash, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 21:16 (eighteen years ago)

Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 21:44 (eighteen years ago)

AWESOME

Rickey Henderson high school yearbook

omar little, Thursday, 20 September 2007 00:20 (eighteen years ago)

so it's 8-3 in the 7th, can they find a way to blow this one too?

Michael F Gill, Thursday, 20 September 2007 01:27 (eighteen years ago)

perhaps he meant the cloud of potential reinjury

bingo, obv. a healthy/durable pedro is great, but in a playoff situation where you often need guys to pitch on 3-4 days rest, he probably won't be allowed to do this.

of course glavine & pedro might be enough to overcome maine's meltdowns

good to see green get a bit hot, 'bout fucking time
