putz will be fine - today he threw a ball on 3-2 to cantu and one to hermida on 3-2 after he had fouled off a few pitches and then ross knew he was getting a fastball and he got one that was up around the letters. was kind of a flukey inning and if he had thrown a few more strikes it would've been alright.
green was grooving pitches otoh

santos might be a rookie in a pressure sitch, but he has some cause for confidence, no? supposedly his hitting got noticed in spring training, while castro was sub-200 before today. has green looked good in any game thus far?
if you're gonna go to a game with gabbneb, you better be prepared to see a Tatis homer and a tight loss spend most of your time eating. i like el verano's tomatillo-chipotle, carnitas and mole, and catch of the day's ginger limeade (though i'm guessing that the blue moon on offer - or a hoegaarden, eg, from the meyerland beer island - might pair better with the lobster roll, and imagine el verano's brooklyn 'sabrosa' is nice (but no brooklyn pilsner in the ballpark? boo)). of course i also like carvel chocolate with rainbow sprinkles, so ymmv XD. place is awesome, at least when it's below capacity.

“I think Santos has a little shorter swing,” Manuel said later, explaining why he pinch-hit one right-handed hitter for another, catcher Ramon Castro, who had gone 2 for 4. “And when you have a little shorter swing, it’s easier to get to a guy that’s throwing in the upper 90s. If it had been, let’s say, a sinker-slider guy, then Ramon would have continued to hit.”

way deeper than the AL
marlins, phils, mets are all better than the yanks, the rays don't look too good, and i mean... i guess the jays but
braves are certainly better than whoever is 4th best in the nl east
― zone 6 polar bear (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 3 May 2009 02:21 (seventeen years ago)
The Marlins are currently (on the second day of May) one game better at beating NL teams than the Yankees are at beating AL teams, but, uh...

AL East is far and away the best league in MLB.
Tried to figure out the best way to display this quickly and dirtily, took the average rank by division of the BP Power Rankings (3rd order W/L, Adjusted EQR/EQRA, etc.):
AL East = 10.0NL East = 15.8AL Central = 16.7NL Central = 17.4AL West = 18.0NL West = 18.8
NL East is the 2nd best league in MLB, but the distance from #2 to #6 is much closer than #1 to #2.

better still than the marlins is the pirates, tbh. they swept the marlins, who are better than the yankees.

Going to Citi on Wednesday. Appreciate any info on things to do before the game or good seat advice.

per the CSTB report, do a self-upgrade if your seat is not to yr satisfaction.

things to do before the game - eat too much in meyerland; check out the view from various angles and levels (excelsior), including outside views of the auto shops (up by the pepsi porch) and the water seat advice - buy the cheapest one you can find, then grab a standing spot behind an unobstructed-view field level rail

Are Manuel's benchings of Murphy as random as they seem, or is there some logic behind it?
He has sit a couple times this season against lefties, but .391/.429/.696 in 29 career PAs does not scream NECESSARY STRICT PLATOON.
