loaded forbear (gabbneb), Monday, 27 April 2009 23:27 (seventeen years ago)

Dr Morbius, Tuesday, 28 April 2009 16:41 (seventeen years ago)

so what is the deal w/ollie perez anyway? injured? mechanics out of whack? karmic payback of some kind?

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 28 April 2009 17:10 (seventeen years ago)

he is not a good pitcher.

Batsman (Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved), Tuesday, 28 April 2009 17:39 (seventeen years ago)

he was, the 2nd half of '08.

Dr Morbius, Tuesday, 28 April 2009 20:10 (seventeen years ago)

yes. and cliff lee was good in'08 too somehow.

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Tuesday, 28 April 2009 20:21 (seventeen years ago)

cliff lee's last 3 starts were vv quality. i might not lump him in with the jose lima/esteban loaiza/bill swift crowd just yet though he could end up there.

~*GAME 2 SNYPA*~ (omar little), Tuesday, 28 April 2009 20:31 (seventeen years ago)

i'd have more faith in Carmona turning it around than Lee, tbh.

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Tuesday, 28 April 2009 22:11 (seventeen years ago)

the mets have tripled in 10 straight games, 9 different players.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Wednesday, 29 April 2009 18:51 (seventeen years ago)

i bet there's something wrong with putz. i love the guy, but he wasn't right last year. i sort of think the mariners knew something and that's why they wanted to move him before the start of the season. i bet they figured that his value wasn't going to go up as he played games.

jergins, Wednesday, 29 April 2009 22:49 (seventeen years ago)

sean green as part of that deal looks pretty sh1tty now too

johnny crunch, Wednesday, 29 April 2009 22:53 (seventeen years ago)

NEVER TOO EARLY TO PANIC

I saw the 8th & 9th inning rallies fizzle on the monitors in SNY Plaza in midtown, with other unamused onlookers.

Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 29 April 2009 23:34 (seventeen years ago)

that pinch hit choice was really bizarre

GOON carter cash (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 30 April 2009 00:10 (seventeen years ago)

was it? Cohen mentioned speed for an error/infield hit as a factor.

really j crunch, if you're gonna bury Green after 11.2 IP you should go to a game with gabbneb.

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 30 April 2009 00:14 (seventeen years ago)

yeah idk, i mean i guess santos is faster than castro but fast enough to get an infield hit? plus castro had 2 or 3 hits already? also a rookie in a pressure situation. all told i'm sure they had a relatively equal chance of getting a hit, but it was weird that it seemed like manuel was completely unprepared for the possibility of castro coming up w/ bases loaded

GOON carter cash (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 30 April 2009 00:17 (seventeen years ago)

morbs i hope putz/green turn it around as much as you do but im sure you watched his outing yesterday, dude did not look good out there

johnny crunch, Thursday, 30 April 2009 00:38 (seventeen years ago)

yes, the delay in getting Santos up was weird.

no, I don't watch every game. I do take the Fangraphs take on JJ seriously.

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 30 April 2009 00:43 (seventeen years ago)

putz will be fine - today he threw a ball on 3-2 to cantu and one to hermida on 3-2 after he had fouled off a few pitches and then ross knew he was getting a fastball and he got one that was up around the letters. was kind of a flukey inning and if he had thrown a few more strikes it would've been alright.

green was grooving pitches otoh

GOON carter cash (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 30 April 2009 00:46 (seventeen years ago)

santos might be a rookie in a pressure sitch, but he has some cause for confidence, no? supposedly his hitting got noticed in spring training, while castro was sub-200 before today. has green looked good in any game thus far?

if you're gonna go to a game with gabbneb, you better be prepared to see a Tatis homer and a tight loss spend most of your time eating. i like el verano's tomatillo-chipotle, carnitas and mole, and catch of the day's ginger limeade (though i'm guessing that the blue moon on offer - or a hoegaarden, eg, from the meyerland beer island - might pair better with the lobster roll, and imagine el verano's brooklyn 'sabrosa' is nice (but no brooklyn pilsner in the ballpark? boo)). of course i also like carvel chocolate with rainbow sprinkles, so ymmv XD. place is awesome, at least when it's below capacity.

dr morbius hangs out in midtown.

(*゚ー゚)θ L(。・_・) °~ヾ(・ε・ *) (Steve Shasta), Thursday, 30 April 2009 03:48 (seventeen years ago)

it's been a gr8 visit

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 30 April 2009 11:36 (seventeen years ago)

“I think Santos has a little shorter swing,” Manuel said later, explaining why he pinch-hit one right-handed hitter for another, catcher Ramon Castro, who had gone 2 for 4. “And when you have a little shorter swing, it’s easier to get to a guy that’s throwing in the upper 90s. If it had been, let’s say, a sinker-slider guy, then Ramon would have continued to hit.”

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 30 April 2009 17:39 (seventeen years ago)

FIX DAVID WRIGHT

Hated at Hooters (Andy K), Friday, 1 May 2009 23:11 (seventeen years ago)

sacrifice flies are usu the only productive outs.

didn't know Chan Ho was the 2 grandslams in 1 inning pitcher for Tatis -- wait, it was the SAME pitcher???

Dr Morbius, Friday, 1 May 2009 23:51 (seventeen years ago)

Keith thinks Wright was still bailing a bit on RBI double

Dr Morbius, Friday, 1 May 2009 23:54 (seventeen years ago)

Another bad start for Ollie.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Saturday, 2 May 2009 21:31 (seventeen years ago)

4realz

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Sunday, 3 May 2009 02:19 (seventeen years ago)

way deeper than the AL

marlins, phils, mets are all better than the yanks, the rays don't look too good, and i mean... i guess the jays but

braves are certainly better than whoever is 4th best in the nl east

zone 6 polar bear (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 3 May 2009 02:21 (seventeen years ago)

The Marlins are currently (on the second day of May) one game better at beating NL teams than the Yankees are at beating AL teams, but, uh...

Hated at Hooters (Andy K), Sunday, 3 May 2009 02:26 (seventeen years ago)

yall have been brainwashed by espn
