Nice to see that the NY baseball media can find such a positive spin on Glavine's 300th win. Criminy I think some of these guys would write a negative column the day the Mets win the World Series.

I also don't get the whole spin that no one will ever win 300 again. They were saying the same thing around the time the guys from the 70s were hitting 300 wins like Carlton, Sutton, Seaver etc. It is a pretty rare feat, especially if you consider there was quite a few from guys that played from the mid 60s to mid 80s.

That is about 1/4 of the people who have won 300. The fact that there have been 3 from this generation of players is pretty good. Ryan was the only one of these guys to win his 300th game in the 90s.

So if you look things, it was thirteen years between Clemens and Ryan.

Wynn - 1963
Spahn - 1961

So it was twenty years between Wynn and Carlton.

It might be a few years, but it will probably happen again.

actually they've set new attendance records these last two seasons! last year against the mets, and again this year against the phillies. i think the fact that they actually have to compete for a shot at the division instead of waltzing into the playoffs is generating way more interest~

that bannister kid is having a pretty decent year for an awful royals team, why did we get rid of him again? he would look pretty nice in the 5 spot right about now.

the royals aren't awful this year! they are on pace for winning 75 games this year, and possibly not finishing in last place. that is huge for them.

good lord, it is so good to have alou back. and i really didn't think i'd be saying that at all when he was signed.
