Phils-Rays on now, Ibanez w/ first of many flyouts

Dr Morbius, Saturday, 28 February 2009 18:23 (seventeen years ago)

h.r. and Joe Magrane are delighted that Cito Gaston has had Toronto abandon the "deep counts" philosophy to "swing the bat." Is there any basis of reality to this?

they really need to retire that screamo track they play at EVERY FUCKING BREAK.

Awesome torrent of idiocy on stats and the almighty power of elderly scouts (after an even-handed bit on BP/PECOTA from Vasgersian) by Reynolds, Casey, Larkin. Keywords: winners, character, straw hat, stogie, laptop, calculator, touch and feel.

i lol'd @ Mitch Williams the other night on Ryan Braun's HR styling: "If I was still pitching, Ryan's pretty blue eyes would be black and blue."

Dr Morbius, Tuesday, 12 May 2009 00:23 (seventeen years ago)

they're showing the '86 Dave Henderson Boston-Angels game right now. (i'd forgotten Hendu tipped a Grich fly over the fence.)

Dr Morbius, Monday, 25 May 2009 13:42 (seventeen years ago)

That was interesting to watch again. Great catches by Rice and Downing in key situations. The Gary Pettis/Devon White/Ruppert Jones experience. And Rob Wilfong!

Maltodextrin, Monday, 25 May 2009 19:36 (seventeen years ago)

hey if anyone's bored they're showing giants/nats right now, rj's potential 300th win. sick double play just turned by giants 2Bman

kinda prefer RJ's personality to A-Rod's and Gary Carter's.

I wonder who was in the Expo lineup in his first win besides ...Raines?

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 4 June 2009 23:54 (seventeen years ago)

Harold Reynolds with the automatic "maybe last guy to win 300" thing that's been said about the last 6-8 guys. Fucking moron.

Not 100% sure if I heard HR correctly, but I believe he said Mauer hurts his case for MVP because HE IS A CATCHER, which means he cannot play every day, unlike Derek Jeter.

And I think I heard him say that Mauer played in 130 games (he played 138) while Jeter played every day (actually 153), for a 32 game difference (technically less than half of that, but whatever).

Andy K, Friday, 6 November 2009 17:03 (sixteen years ago)

HR said JM played in 110 games -- cherry picking that he had, in fact, played in 138 games (DH, etc).

Meatcat (Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved), Friday, 6 November 2009 17:11 (sixteen years ago)

I'm so glad I won't even hear HR by accident all winter, at least

Your Favorite Saturday Night Thing (Dr Morbius), Friday, 6 November 2009 17:22 (sixteen years ago)

Mauer was injured for the start of the season, and returned on May 1st. He missed 22 games because of injury. Besides the injury, he only missed two games. So what the fuck is harold on about.

A graphic of McCovey's OPS+ was just shown as a graphic on Baseball Seasons: 1959.

Andy K, Thursday, 7 January 2010 01:35 (sixteen years ago)

what's up with that douchebag Ken Rosenthal who plans out everything he's going to say then gets all emphatic reciting the rehearsed lines while gesturing with his hands. everyone else talks normal or at least fakes off the cuff while dude is doing little orphan annie monologues.

sanskrit, Thursday, 7 January 2010 03:02 (sixteen years ago)

why are you watching this in the offseason, for insight?

MLBN personalities POX

Mae
Ripken
Gammons
Leiter
Williams(?!)

Uh... make that POV. These people are the least annoying of the bunch.

Yelloff is the worst: "Look at the numbers of Cubs starter Carlos SILVA! WHAT'S UP WITH THAT?!?!"

Dan Plesac = Horatio Sanz

Andy K, Wednesday, 26 May 2010 15:03 (sixteen years ago)

Does Gammons have a regular timeslot on this channel? I don't want to just leave the yammering running, hoping PG will make an appearance.

Grisly Addams (WmC), Wednesday, 26 May 2010 15:12 (sixteen years ago)

Plesac and Williams are pretty good. I prefer them to anyone on Baseball Tonight. Ripken makes me uncomfortable for some reason but he's fine too.

i dont understand from a business perspective the point of solid 60 (only live look ins no desk)
its basically the "see i knew i didn't need to buy extra innings" show

sanskrit, Saturday, 29 May 2010 01:49 (sixteen years ago)

that might be true for East Coast fans but for me (here in Los Angeles) i could not live without MLB Extra Innings.

Gas face to Fuck Face for citing wins as the ultimate (only?) determining factor for his hypothetical CY vote.

Scoffing at Verducci's logical defense of Felix: also worthy of the gas face.
