just offered yu and scherzer for trout. it's a league with a whopping three (3) keepers that get recycled every three (3) years, so what's the fucking point anyway, i just really want cabrera and trout on my team together

i led my roto league by like 30 points for almost the entire season and in the last week someone overtook me and pushed me to 2nd place by like 2 points

not ready this year. i might just not prepare at all, maybe that'll be smart. who knows. i'm looking at mockdraftcentral's averages and i just have no idea anymore. apparently hunter pence deserves to go in the low 20s? apparently he had a good year or smth? mark trumbo at 26? really? idek.

dunno the stats you track, or what the people in your league value, but when i have a tough pick (esp between a pitcher and a batter) i try to figure out which one is most likely to still be available in the last pick of the first round. if you think you can grab one in the redraft, drop that one.

the keepers are so pointless it doesn't matter, it's just a 3-keeper league and my other 2 are cabrera and yu. my plan is just "pick the top three players according to ADP" and because mockdraftcentral has bautista way higher than scherzer, i figured i'd take him. and then ESPN actually started drafting and scherzer's like 10 spots higher than jose (this is an ESPN league). MDC rankings are always better but i'm actually not sure who value more. probably going with jose but it's annoying.

wacha/moore over ryu. i'd lean wacha between the two personally, but moore might be a better option depending on your league (ie. which one is worth more in trade value? which one can you not just redraft later?).

that said tho, i haven't mentioned werth bc you need to rule out 2 SPs... the real question is, does it make more sense to keep a pretty great OF or a pretty great SP in your league? i'd say odds are werth is the best option in most leagues, but i dunno yours.

My team name in the ILX league I was pretty satisfied w/, so I put it in and left it (Villar Love Triangle). However in my other league I completely haven't come up with one I like so far... lowlights include Imagine Pagans, Pauliment Funkagoldschmidt, and my most recent, STROP LORD.

auction leagues are sad cause you end up with 8 extra dollars you coulda put on jose abreu and now you have xander bogaerts in your UTIL spot

A bit of controversy in my irl league. There's a manager in my league who has made the following recent trades:

Traded David Wright for Nolan Arenado (before Arenado's hit streak, btw) (approved)
Traded Mike Trout and Gerrit Cole for Masahiro Tanaka and Ben Revere (vetoed)
Traded Evan Longoria for Tommy Hunter (vetoed)

Now he's pissed off that we vetoed those two trades. He's at the bottom of the league and the guys he's trading to are at the top.

My philosophy is that all non-colluding trades should be accepted, but in this league we don't do it that way, so I voted to veto.

How do you guys feel about the veto? Are we being unfair?

yeah i'd need a pretty compelling case to not veto 2 & 3, but I also have 2 red flags that make me veto: 1) collusion and 2) sour grapes teams trying ot fuck with the rest of the league

now desperately sprinting towards 3rd place ($125) with no pitching limits so at this point it becomes a free agent free-for-all trying to take wins and K's, and among my opponent's 6 matchups today he had arrieta, lohse and buehrle. only one stinker. 40 innings, 1.99 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, 43 K's. 3 wins. jfc. now i'm scared. meanwhile i started jake odorizzi (3IP 5ER) and jake odorizzi (3IP 5ER) only.

so now i'm doing something that probably isn't kosher and scooping up as many FA probables as i can with no intention of playing them, just so he doesn't get them. it isn't against the rules but eeeehhhhh

Guys I got this trade offer in my other GLORPING league and I need feedback... on the face of it it's a great deal for me.

I think he wins the minor league deal, Seager is more exciting than Castillo, but like... Reyes for Xander? Am I insane to not pull the trigger on that?

tough to look past seager. hitting .300 in june, against shaun marcum today, doesn't give you a 50% K rate (gallo -- small sample, but not out of line with expectations either) or a .074 ISO with only one steal on the year (Yunel). in fact, trade joey gallo now unless it's a dynasty/keeper!

Thanks. I'm new to this but my league seems pretty conservative about trading. I'm not seeing anyone doing much trading at all, and I've put up a couple of offers recently that were just ignored for several days, not even rejected.

i put gallo on the trading block after one game and got eduardo rodriguez and jorge soler for him

polyphonic that is a dope deal you made. is it a keeper? frnakly keeper or no, you win that deal (especially if you can bench soler until he heats up)

Well that didn't work out but Escobar didn't do anything either and Gallo didn't play so that's about par for the course for me lately.

tbh it's kind of taken over my fantasy baseball shit this year. i've been playing $2 games and using 3 different methods for selecting teams each day, tracking the results meticulously in an attempt to develop a formula that wins reliably enough for me to quit my job and hang out on the beach and watch seagulls while getting wasted

anyway i was thinking of starting a thread but wanted to see if anyone else participates in daily leagues

i've gotten a little obsessed. i got a lot more interested when i found out about some of the different options for playing. right now i play strictly 50/50 leagues, which means that if you place in the top 50 out of 100 for a contest, you win - doesn't matter whether you finish in 1st or 49th place. they have the 50/50 contests at different price levels, but i play the $2 games which give you $3.60 if you win. so basically, if you can place in the top half of the contest 55% of the time, you'll break even. i like the 50/50 games because they reward having a consistent method - i don't have to rely on luck to pick someone who has a 2 HR game, i just need to pick a set of players who will get me consistent production so that i can get into the top half of the field of entries.

a lot of other people play head-to-head games and tournament style entries where placing in the top 3 gets you a ton of money and you have to place in the top 10% or so to make any money back. i might dabble with those later but for now i'm very content to refine my 50/50 method. currently i'm winning 65% of my games, well past the 55% breakeven point.
