Don't we all! I'm already sorta regretting trading Cordero, because here's what happened to my other 3 "closers" since making the deal:

- Eduardo Sanchez lost the cards closer job
- Jordan walden looks like he might lose the Angels spot soon.
- Contreras is on the DL, but since Madson is doing well it looks like closer might not be his for the taking upon return. Also, brad lidge.

D'oh!

Some guys on another board I post on basically say never draft closers because once the season starts its bedlam.

The problem is that with our league, most of the setup guys get drafted as well.

Yep, exactly. Not only since there are so many teams in our league, but also because holds is a category.

i'm thinking i might have to toss Fowler out the airlock soon.

Looks like my freefall in the standings has started. I had a decent three-week run in second place with a depleted roster, which is a step up from my horrible 2010.

In most years I feel there are only about five closers whose jobs are safe and are unlikely to implode at some point during the season. If I can draft one of the five then great, if not then I might not bother drafting a closer. I've punted saves in the past because I'm more comfortable bringing in a revolving door of middle relievers who can help you in more than one category than hanging onto a closer who'll give you 25-30 SV but will kill you with a 4+ ERA and a shitty BB rate.

Wow, I was worried b/c two of my pitchers were facing eachother, but I really couldn't have drawn it up better myself:
Masterson: 8IP, 5H, 1ER, 2BB, 8K
Peavy: 9IP, 3H, 0ER, 0BB, 8K

1-0 White Sox, both pitched a complete game :D

i really want another closer (yes, i realized i just traded away cordero last week *hangs head* / sad trombone). i've already unsuccessfully reached out to a couple of you, but i'll throw it out for everyone, one last time: i would give away ted lilly and/or wade davis and/or zambrano, for a closer. i guess that's only appealing to someone who has an overabundance of closers and not enough decent SPs, but i'm just throwing it out there.

I can't imagine anyone wanting to give up a legit closer to get any of those clowns. no offense!
