oops, i meant polyphonic!

secretariat on demand (Z S), Tuesday, 26 April 2011 03:25 (fifteen years ago)

I'm surprised at my team's jump in the standings over the past week -- my best two hitters are still on the DL. OTOH, I'm happy that Phil Hughes caught teh dead arm because that guy was singlehandedly killing my pitching stats.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Tuesday, 26 April 2011 13:13 (fifteen years ago)

i enjoy that my team continues to be near the bottom in the boring bullshit fundamental categories of bbs, gidps & fielding % and still @ the top of the standings

johnny crunch, Tuesday, 26 April 2011 13:19 (fifteen years ago)

its like an irl team i would root for and simultaneously be infuriated by

johnny crunch, Tuesday, 26 April 2011 13:21 (fifteen years ago)

i'm feeling okay about my team's .458/1.167 line so far tonight

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 27 April 2011 01:31 (fifteen years ago)

When are you gonna reject that trade

reggaeton for the painfully alone (polyphonic), Wednesday, 27 April 2011 01:32 (fifteen years ago)

ha -- soon

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 27 April 2011 01:32 (fifteen years ago)

I'm back in the top 10!

Matt Groening's Cousin (Leee), Wednesday, 27 April 2011 04:32 (fifteen years ago)

damn I got my balls crushed last night..

and now it seems with Corey Hart back from the DL, I too, have a glut of outfielders.. If anyone has a need lemme know.

strongly recommend. unless you're a bitch (mayor jingleberries), Wednesday, 27 April 2011 16:52 (fifteen years ago)

Hart did nothing in the minors, gonna leave him benched in $ league. (That means he will probably hit 3 tacos.)

You Get Hoynes (bnw), Wednesday, 27 April 2011 17:04 (fifteen years ago)

I grabbed Michael Bourn in the draft because I realized he was gonna be out for awhile.. Feel like I should be keeping MB and jettisoning either Quentin or Hart..

strongly recommend. unless you're a bitch (mayor jingleberries), Wednesday, 27 April 2011 19:57 (fifteen years ago)

Phil Hughes' arm is fucked, at least for now. But he's keeper eligible and I'd hang onto him but I have other young pitchers and too many guys already on the DL. If anyone wants to make me a trade offer, you can probably have him for spare parts, otherwise I'll release him by the end of the weekend.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Saturday, 30 April 2011 16:03 (fifteen years ago)

i was looking to pick up a hot hitting catcher and bounce Iannetta.. until I realized Iannetta is the best hitter on my team.

/player dump in july

sanskrit, Sunday, 1 May 2011 13:01 (fifteen years ago)

Hudson and Ogando are on the trading block. Need middle infield and outfield.

Andy K, Monday, 2 May 2011 19:11 (fifteen years ago)

(Tim Hudson)

Andy K, Tuesday, 3 May 2011 02:36 (fifteen years ago)

CarGo is really giving Crawford and Hamilton some competition for my most disappointing keeper.

reggaeton for the painfully alone (polyphonic), Tuesday, 3 May 2011 20:45 (fifteen years ago)

I will gladly keep them if you want to dump them!

secretariat on demand (Z S), Tuesday, 3 May 2011 21:13 (fifteen years ago)

kicked austin jackson to the curb. I knew in my heart he wasn't a keeper all along </3

You Get Hoynes (bnw), Tuesday, 3 May 2011 21:23 (fifteen years ago)

He could not quite solve Bartolo last night:

90 fastball / foul
92 fastball / called strike
94 fastball / called strike

92 fastball / called strike
94 fastball / foul
94 fastball / swinging strike

93 fastball / called strike
96 fastball / ball
94 fastball / foul
92 fastball / ball
93 fastball / called strike

93 fastball / swinging strike
93 fastball / foul
93 fastball / (weak ground out)

Andy K, Tuesday, 3 May 2011 23:07 (fifteen years ago)

A double, a triple, an RBI, two runs off CC so far tonight...

Andy K, Wednesday, 4 May 2011 00:46 (fifteen years ago)

Baseball is so weird.

it felt good putting ian stewart out of his misery. notes of optimism, like the ending of Old Yeller.

sanskrit, Wednesday, 4 May 2011 01:35 (fifteen years ago)

All your Hosmer are belong to me

Royals purchased the contract of 1B Eric Hosmer from Triple-A Omaha.
Hosmer is expected to arrive in Kansas City in time for Friday's game and should get his first career major league start against the visiting A's. The promising first base prospect has been on an absolute tear at the Triple-A level, sporting a .439/.525/.582 batting line and three home runs through 118 plate appearances. He is worth grabbing in deep mixed leagues.

woo! a 15 point jump for no discernible reason!

got electrolytes (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Sunday, 8 May 2011 14:38 (fifteen years ago)

now that david aardsvarkma will remain in hiding for the foreseeable future, anyone want to deal a closer?

i (77 active uzrs) have a lot of SPs i could part w/

johnny crunch, Wednesday, 11 May 2011 01:45 (fifteen years ago)

while we're at it -- i'm looking for some infield help (first base aside) and have more SPs than i prob need -- CC or carp or cahill or gavin floyd

z_s - trade accepted, lets hope it helps both teams. str8 edge cj is now a devasting probe!

johnny crunch, Thursday, 12 May 2011 12:31 (fifteen years ago)

Well, we have to wait a few days for it to go through, but yes, with any luck CJ will be probing with the rest of my team, with devastating results!

johnny crunch, Thursday, 12 May 2011 12:46 (fifteen years ago)

Wait a sec, CJ is straight-edge?? Get this asshole off my team, trade denied!!
;)

Z S, Thursday, 12 May 2011 12:55 (fifteen years ago)

yar - 'tis a fine trade.

got electrolytes (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Thursday, 12 May 2011 13:11 (fifteen years ago)

Great, now my *three* best hitters are on the DL (Ike Davis joins Mauer and Zimmerman). I'm not even sure I have an offense anymore.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Friday, 13 May 2011 06:02 (fifteen years ago)

Asking once more:

Would anyone like to trade for Alexi Ogando or Tim Hudson?

A Chuck Person's Guide to Mark Aguirre (Andy K), Saturday, 14 May 2011 11:34 (fifteen years ago)

I'm looking for another starter but I can't make a deal because I have no roster flexibility (i.e. too many guys on the DL and thx for getting suspended BJ Upton!)

NoTimeBeforeTime, Saturday, 14 May 2011 11:56 (fifteen years ago)

do you guys ever bench one of your SPs if they're starting against your favorite team irl? i knew i probably should have started Cueto today against the cards, but i didn't want to have to watch the game and root for him. so i sat him. and of course he dominated. :/

Z S, Saturday, 14 May 2011 23:55 (fifteen years ago)

Anyone into trading for Matt LaPorta? Hes keeper eligible and since I snagged Hosmer I kinda dont need him. He's 1B/OF. Need a decent reliever I guess..

strongly recommend. unless you're a bitch (mayor jingleberries), Wednesday, 18 May 2011 21:51 (fifteen years ago)

Don't we all! I'm already sorta regretting trading Cordero, because here's what happened to my other 3 "closers" since making the deal:

- Eduardo Sanchez lost the cards closer job
- Jordan walden looks like he might lose the Angels spot soon.
- Contreras is on the DL, but since Madson is doing well it looks like closer might not be his for the taking upon return. Also, brad lidge.

D'oh!

and can i get those tips frosted, please? (Z S), Wednesday, 18 May 2011 21:56 (fifteen years ago)

Some guys on another board I post on basically say never draft closers because once the season starts its bedlam.

strongly recommend. unless you're a bitch (mayor jingleberries), Wednesday, 18 May 2011 22:02 (fifteen years ago)

The problem is that with our league, most of the setup guys get drafted as well.

polyphonic, Wednesday, 18 May 2011 22:10 (fifteen years ago)

Yep, exactly. Not only since there are so many teams in our league, but also because holds is a category.

and can i get those tips frosted, please? (Z S), Wednesday, 18 May 2011 22:14 (fifteen years ago)

i'm thinking i might have to toss Fowler out the airlock soon.

got electrolytes (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Thursday, 19 May 2011 02:58 (fifteen years ago)

Looks like my freefall in the standings has started. I had a decent three-week run in second place with a depleted roster, which is a step up from my horrible 2010.

In most years I feel there are only about five closers whose jobs are safe and are unlikely to implode at some point during the season. If I can draft one of the five then great, if not then I might not bother drafting a closer. I've punted saves in the past because I'm more comfortable bringing in a revolving door of middle relievers who can help you in more than one category than hanging onto a closer who'll give you 25-30 SV but will kill you with a 4+ ERA and a shitty BB rate.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Thursday, 19 May 2011 08:50 (fifteen years ago)

Wow, I was worried b/c two of my pitchers were facing eachother, but I really couldn't have drawn it up better myself:
Masterson: 8IP, 5H, 1ER, 2BB, 8K
Peavy: 9IP, 3H, 0ER, 0BB, 8K

1-0 White Sox, both pitched a complete game :D

francisF, Thursday, 19 May 2011 22:15 (fifteen years ago)

Coelacanth Green (Leee), Friday, 20 May 2011 05:24 (fifteen years ago)

Stuff like that and scraping the bottom of the league, pretty sure this'll be my last year playing. :\

Coelacanth Green (Leee), Friday, 20 May 2011 05:25 (fifteen years ago)

Brian Roberts is on the DL? who could have foreseen that?!
