a thing of beauty, last night's game was.
let's hope that Halladay doesn't turn into a half-senile right-wing crackpot politician fifty years from now (which is what happened to Jim Bunning).
― Aspergers Makes My Pee Smell Funny (Eisbaer), Sunday, 30 May 2010 17:20 (sixteen years ago)

Looks something like 13 runs in the last 12 games...?
― Andy K, Wednesday, 2 June 2010 20:51 (sixteen years ago)
have been outscored 50-14 since 5/21
― mayor jingleberries, Wednesday, 2 June 2010 20:59 (sixteen years ago)
i think i read somewhere where they had the most-imbalanced schedule in terms of front-loading road games and spending the majority of the second half at home... could it be road-weariness?

they even get an extra home series when toronto plays a 'home' series in cbp
― mayor jingleberries, Wednesday, 2 June 2010 21:49 (sixteen years ago)
that is some serious bs, btw.

Phillies' ball girls down the outfield lines are the worst-fielding ball girls/boys I've ever seen. They just go yikes! and run out of the way of anything moving faster than a box turtle, make no attempt to catch foul balls until they've stopped moving.

Philadelphia Phillies second baseman Chase Utley will be out at least eight weeks after having surgery on his injured right thumb, Phillies athletic trainer Scott Sheridan said.
The operation was performed Thursday in New York by hand specialist Dr. Andrew Weiland. Trainers said Utley must wear a splint on the thumb for five weeks before he begins rehabilitation. Utley and the Phillies will get a better idea exactly how long he will be sidelined once the stitches are removed from the thumb.

oh hey, maybe the Mets will have a shot at the playoffs now, congratz.

Mordy, we wd have such fun at a Mets-Phils game.
― kind of shrill and very self-righteous (Dr Morbius), Friday, 2 July 2010 22:42 (fifteen years ago)
we should totally do it. i don't know when the next game in NY is, or whether it'll be easy to get tickets, but we should make plans. ILX baseball day would be fun.

lol as if. i'm like least likely baseball fan to misbehave. you'd be like, "Obama sucks," and i'd probably be like, "lol maybez." i can't sustain seriousness in casual real life interactions

u do know Phillies gear gets you an "asshole" chant now at Citi
― kind of shrill and very self-righteous (Dr Morbius), Friday, 2 July 2010 22:54 (fifteen years ago)
Hey Morbs, what's your policy versus rooting for Phillies injuries versus poxes on your team (usually leading to you throwing epic hissy fits)? Just sayin dawg. Be careful with that karma imo.
― _▂▅▇█▓▒░◕‿‿◕░▒▓█▇▅▂_ (Steve Shasta), Friday, 2 July 2010 23:05 (fifteen years ago)
I pretty much don't "root for injuries." I like Utley.

i'm a bit surprised that for a supposedly elite player rollins has never OBPed .350+ for a season
― ciderpress, Sunday, 11 July 2010 03:47 (fifteen years ago)
it's pretty obv from his style of hitting
― the resulting pussy stubble (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 11 July 2010 05:21 (fifteen years ago)
his elite status has a lot to do with position scarcity too, for a while there NL shortstop was like the worst position in the majors
OAKLAND, CA's JIMMY ROLLINS

Ruben Amaro is such a dumbass
Jayson Stark of ESPN.com reports that the Phillies are working on a "major deal" for a starting pitcher and would move Jayson Werth in a "companion trade."
Why dont you trade for Cliff Lee lol
― mayor jingleberries, Wednesday, 21 July 2010 03:04 (fifteen years ago)
ha!
― now breathing manually (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 21 July 2010 07:47 (fifteen years ago)
trading werth actually makes sense since they're not gonna resign him + they have domonic brown languishing in the minors
doesn't solve the ibanez problem but oh well
― u dad (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 21 July 2010 07:52 (fifteen years ago)
i think the lee trade actually had some legitimate logic behind it... but in retrospect it kinda sucks, esp cuz the prospects they got back aren't exactly lighting the world on fire
― u dad (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 21 July 2010 07:55 (fifteen years ago)
am reading alot of insane banter online about whatever deal is supposedly happening. which makes me think nothing will happen. i should probably go to bed.
― now breathing manually (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 21 July 2010 08:19 (fifteen years ago)
yeah i mean... what starting pitcher would constitute "a major deal"? dan haren? that doesn't make sense bcuz there is no way the d backs would trade for werth and no way that the phillies could give them fair value in return w/o giving up brown
so it must be roy oswalt? that really isn't that major tho cuz it should be pretty easy to get him
― u dad (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 21 July 2010 08:23 (fifteen years ago)
ted lilly maybe?
marlins aren't trading nolasco to the phillies
― u dad (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 21 July 2010 08:25 (fifteen years ago)
i dunno why amaro feels the need to make these break-even trades when the phillies should be in win-now mode. you'd think he would have learned something from the halladay/lee thing.
if they trade werth for oswalt and dom brown doesn't hit right away then they're in trouble
