hey since we're on food, i made chili last night--chili's sort of the antithesis of yogurt, can't wait to eat some antithetical yogurt tonight

Mr. Que, Wednesday, 22 April 2009 15:23 (seventeen years ago)

heat up some milk to just below boiling - a few bubbles will start to percolate and it will be steaming

let it cool down to abt 120 - very warm but not quite hot

add a few scoops of yogurt and mix it up - some people use packets of yogurt culture instead - i dont know why

u can add some powdered milk now if u want it to be on firmer side - i dont mess w/this and it comes out looser def than what youd typically find in the store

store the mixture so that it will retain its heat for a while - i put mine in an old yogurt container then in one of those insulated soft lunch box jobbies - some people put it in the oven w/the light on - some wrap the container up w/towels - some use a thermos - whatever

let it sit for 4 or 5 hours

put it in the fridge to cool and tighten up

you have yogurt!

and its so noticeably fresh and delicious - way better than store bought

stay alive
will come 4 u

http://i41.tinypic.com/20icqjb.jpg

the primary and lingering impression is one of being cheated. u have michael mann and u have ddl and this is what u get??? i mean its a dece movie or whatever w/some nice aspects but shit. maybe their styles sap each others energies or something. more likely they both mailed it in for whatever reasons. like why did ddl choose to play this guy as streetwise northeasterner. no doubt hes somewhere on the cutting room floor muttering disdainfully "fuckin hurons". there was so much almost michael mann vibes going around. just when u thought he was abt to hit u w/some real shit itd get all fussy again. even madeleine stowe failed to titlate. also i cant stand it when the huge hateable coward redeems himself in the end. this is considered a classic plot device how. everyone just wants to see white indian bro take his scalp. let us hav it. wtf.

rip dom passantino 3/5/09 never forget (max), Tuesday, 28 April 2009 15:50 (seventeen years ago)

10 yr old me was really into thief sdtrck its true i think i get wat u mean about 80s movies but - collateral?

Lamp, Tuesday, 28 April 2009 15:53 (seventeen years ago)

iirc LA takedown is like heat before heat?

icey if u havent seen it u should also check out his exec-produced tv show robbery/homicide division w/ tom sizemore, great LA cop show, they play it on the sleuth channel sometimes

rip dom passantino 3/5/09 never forget (max), Tuesday, 28 April 2009 15:54 (seventeen years ago)

collateral is super-80s!!! i just mean like--except for the technological advances that movie could have been released in 1986

rip dom passantino 3/5/09 never forget (max), Tuesday, 28 April 2009 15:55 (seventeen years ago)

collateral looks v. 2000 decade i think its grainy and bright with darkness it doesnt look anything like 1986 remembers looking like - i mean i dont really remember 1986 so im not gonna stick hard and fast on this but yeah reasons why i think collateral is the least 80s of the mann movies i can think of right now

a) U HAVE ONE NITE AND ONE NITE ONLY
b) winking
c) killing of a miles davis fan
d) jazz trivia
