surprised chen left to do freelance figured hed be leveling up to some bigger job at some other news org what with tech coverage being a growth industry and hes one of the best, maybe he just wants to do epic investigations or something

lag∞n, Tuesday, 26 November 2013 22:02 (twelve years ago)

Sounds fishy. Maybe he got fired or pushed out

Adrian Chen is a freelance journalist and an editor at The New Inquiry.

Thomas L. Friedman is off today.

ok i have a theory for the subdomains, they function as sort of a minor leagues for the top level domains, theyre generally more topically focused/have less wide appeal than the main domains, you dont want all of their posts in gawker or deadspin cause then itd be too full of niche stuff, but if you see one thats performing well or just looks interesting you can level it up to the big time

find it kinda weird tho that theres no explination anywhere of what any of them are particularly for, like sploid what is http://sploid.gizmodo.com who knows, also they dont have twitter accounts

lag∞n, Tuesday, 3 December 2013 15:32 (twelve years ago)

agree sometimes i see something from a subdomain and i wonder what the subdomain is 'about', but without some capsule description its like an exercise in guesswork and intuition.

@david_maclean I think it's supposed to be nonchalant and understated but it's actually just really hard to read
