thts = thoughts - i really enjoyed the piece and tht it seemed plausible but idk anything about the fine sport of basketball wondered if u were more skeptical

lol thoughts o yes - generally im totally into hearing abt basketball stats and the nerds who produce them and ill read any magazine article by michael lewis - as far as shane battier pretty much every great team does seem to have a really good perimiter defender. are houston and/or michael lewis overrating battier - i dunno the article was pretty thin on specifics except that hes a +6 in some system where steve nash was a +14 in one of his mvp years. they say they have some special adjusted +/- - if so more power to them - i have yet to see a version that passes the smell test. i do agree that battiers defensive technique of forcing guys to do things they dont want to plus face guarding is srsly otm and v smart. def lewis overstated his physical short comings tho - like he might not be super fast and springy but hes pretty quick for his size and its his size that allows him to be such a good defender - and that goes x2 for the whole v kobe dynamic cause hes always had trouble w/bigger defenders. overall it was a fun read tho kinda short on statistical minutia - in classic lewis style it was more abt the culture and characters that populate the scene.
