HI DERE I AM EATING SQUID AGAIN!

Tim Ellison, Wednesday, 11 April 2007 00:04 (nineteen years ago)

HOW ARE YOU EATING IT? I MEAN HOW IS IT COOKED?

chaki, Wednesday, 11 April 2007 00:39 (nineteen years ago)

chaki,

shiokara is a japanese dish served as izakayas (kind of like pubs or drinking houses) which consists of fermented squid entrails and guts served in a sauce of its own blood and intestinal matter (feces). it can be really alternately bitter and sweet and chewy. tastes really good with beer/sake.

Trader Joe's has these squid rings. I have no idea why the meat is in rings, but you don't even cook the rings - just simmer in a sauce. I have been eating it with marinara sauce and pasta.

STEVE AND TIM THAT BOTH SOUNDS SUPER GROSS

chaki, Wednesday, 11 April 2007 17:19 (nineteen years ago)

Tim,

Squids have legs, tentacles even. When hollowed out, you can boil the meat and then chop them cocentrically making, voila, rings.

Now that 80 foot Collosal Giant Squid they found in antartica a couple months ago, they said if they were to make calamari out of the legs the rings would be the size of tractor tires.
