Go there now!

Our very own Eric H has a terrific review of it here. As Eric notes, Far From Heaven is to Sirk as Viva is to Metzger and Meyer (although Biller's editing is much less frantic than Meyer's) so that should give you a good idea at least of what the film looks like. It's a sex romp that takes place in suburban Los Angeles, 1972. Biller stars as a voluptuous housewife who finds sexual freedom in prostitution. But it quickly becomes a double-edged sword.

At first, I was put off by the running time. 122 minutes of pastiche could get wearying. But slowly I realized that the length makes it feel like 1972 (or, more precisely, the countercultural hangover that 1972 is so frequently remembered as). I think this is the way Zodiac was supposed to make me feel. But it didn't. This did.

this slipped by me earlier but I'm thrilled there's at least ONE other fan out there.

this was the opening night film at the final NYUFF and i remember reading a few upturned-nose reviews that were like "so an exploitation pastiche is 'underground' now?"

but whtvs, this looks fun and i've enjoyed an exploitation flick or two in my time

You can reserve this on UK Lovefilm. Maybe if enough of us do this, they'll actually buy a copy.

I can imagine this is one of those no-middle-ground pics.

eleven years pass...

no thread for The Love Witch? just saw it, loved it-- really respect her total craft, wish she would make more films, but obviously takes much longer
Dunno how long her next one, Bluebeard, is along
