it would be neat if someone made a kitchen island out of antique cigar boxes and filled the shelves with French rolling pins so it looked like they were giant cigars

(I found a photo of a cigar box kitchen island, but it isn't mindblowing, so I don't feel comfortable posting it itt)

def opposed to putting the sink or stove on island, poor use of real estate, and then in the case of that one the multiple levels reduce its utility even further

honestly the best island is prob just a big butcher block with stools on one side and cabinets underneath, maybe a trash hole and some power outlets tho im not even sure about those anything that breaks up the counter space makes the whole thing so much less useful

sorry but if you think 'usefulness' and ease of food preparation are valid criteria for judging kitchen islands then what are you even doing in this thread? I guess you'd consider it an improvement if they gutted Versailles and refurnished it with IKEA readymades, smh

kitchen island restaurant booth has you eating next to dirty dishes or soap smells. kitchen island command center is a death trap.

if you aren't the last to enter kitchen island command center, you are probably on the menu

Tom: No. I needed the space inside for the cooktop and gas and electrical connections. For some reason, in my mind, it would be tacky if it still played. I know, some people probably think its tacky anyway. The biggest hurdle was that the piano was extremely heavy to get into the house.

Skaie: Are you a professional craftsman or designer?

Tom: No.

after diving back into a bunch of minimal techno following the pfork IDM list, just discovered Deepchord Presents Echospace - Liumin. Great stuff here, dub/ambient techno, but there's a couple of tracks with deeply obscured disco samples that almost come out as vaporwaved house tracks. always finding more...
