Discussion is encouraged so that the student can engage actively in the philosophical examination of problems. Various fields of the arts and sciences raise philosophical questions which are often not given thorough attention in those particular disciplines. In the informed consideration of such questions, the student acquires a broader and deeper understanding of the major areas of intellectual endeavor. In this way, philosophical comprehension helps to unify a student’s education. Philosophic investigation also has an intrinsic interest and value.

According to everyday folk psychology, our deliberate goals and intentions, together with our character traits, explain much of our overt behavior. These ways of explaining behavior are pervasive. According to many social psychologists, they are also typically false. Instead, much human behavior is controlled by psychological processes prompted through external triggers that we do not recognize and over which we have little control. Once triggered, these processes shape our behavior in profound ways. Experiments demonstrating these effects are legion, suggesting that any number of elements can have determining sway on our behavior, whether it's a simple smile (which can make cooperation among players in strategic games more likely), or the chance finding of a dime in a payphone (which can temporarily increase the probability of the finder acting altruistically), or the presence of unappealing, half-eaten foodstuffs in an experimenter's room (which makes subjects behave moralistically when responding to unrelated experimental questions). Minor details can have major impact on our behavior, and our ignorance of this phenomenon should be of moral concern. This is the focus of my dissertation.

In particular, I argue that individuals can often agree or disagree on moral issues not because of the content of their respective beliefs, but rather because of their unawareness of (and thus inattentiveness to) the subtle impact of their immediate environments--and their own mannerisms--on moral reasoning and conduct. The effects can be considerable: How long we are willing to engage in dialogue; the degree to which we find accommodation to others acceptable; the creativity we deploy in finding mutually agreeable outcomes to problems; the significance we attach to any problems we may have--each of these crucial factors in moral deliberation can be affected profoundly by minor variations in our conduct and our situations. Take any social encounter: Even before we share our opinions and engage in serious discussion, we are already signaling various attitudes and even content-rich information about ourselves through cues arising from our facial expressions, posture, tone of voice, forms of address, and other seemingly minor details of our comportment. These cues automatically bias how others interpret our subsequent behavior, and thereby influence how our interactions with others enfold. Attending to such minor details may seem antiquated--even priggish--from a modern perspective. Yet the influence they exert should caution us against discounting their importance.

SEATTLE – Some members of the 12th Man ended up in jail over the weekend when Hoquiam Police decided to use last Saturday's playoff game as a way to round up some suspects.

Police figured a lot of people would be home watching the game on TV, so they decided to knock on the doors of those with outstanding warrants.

Twenty-three people were booked into jail. They also missed the end of the game.

Question:

"Technically, is there a difference between 'Dead End' and 'No Outlet'? I see each, although the newer signs seem to be 'No Outlet'. When is one wording used over the other?"

Answer:

Turns out there is a difference in road speak. Eric Widstrand, the Seattle Department of Transportation's city traffic engineer, explains:

"A 'Dead End' sign is used at the entrance of a single street that terminates in a dead end or a cul-de-sac. A 'No Outlet' sign is used at the entrance to a road network from which there is no other exit, for example, when a small neighborhood composed of several streets has only one entrance on to an arterial street."

I do want to upmod you, I really do. But it feels like your comment is lacking something. I like the screenshot and I get the reference. But maybe you should have copypasted the original simulation into the screenshot or something to make it more than just a screenshot and a somewhat not very accurate commentary about the force.
I think you can develop this idea, and I think it can be very good when you do this. Until then I won't upmod you, I'm sorry.
You see, I visit reddit to read interesting stories in second place, and reading funny and more interesting/educative commentaries in the first place. So I'm just trying to level up the standard here and not allow it to decline. Okay? No personal, no hard feelings. Just a "go get'em, boy!".

johnleary.com tells about Jesus telling him about hybred cars about the best to buy. I found it in his jan or dec messages. (everyone kids me about the way I say messages, the Irish way, and they repeat me) I meet John, at that re fridge I talked about with the chapel in the pig barn. A strange farm, many reported to be all over the world. Angel are suppose to lead you there. He was speaking in the converted cow barn and stopped sudden because he said Jesus was talking to him, then started talking again. He seemed to be for real and sane. He is a very educated man and his wife is a nice person. He is a chemical engineer. He travels all over the world. Quite a few stories there. A great deal like the Polish D. culater

Police were called to the 14th Avenue South home at 12:30 a.m. after a woman there reported a naked stranger was banging on her front door, demanding to be let inside. Officers arrived to find Paige nearly nude.

"The male, later identified as Cornell Paige, was standing in front of the residence wearing only underwear and one shoe," a Federal Way detective told the court. "This attire was not appropriate for the weather conditions as it was the middle of the night, and it was about 38 degrees and damp outside."

Method of exercising a cat

United States Patent 5443036

A method for inducing cats to exercise consists of directing a beam of invisible light produced by a hand-held laser apparatus onto the floor or wall or other opaque surface in the vicinity of the cat, then moving the laser so as to cause the bright pattern of light to move in an irregular way fascinating to cats, and to any other animal with a chase instinct.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
1. Technical Field

The present invention relates to recreational and amusement devices for domestic animals and, more particularly, to a method for exercising and entertaining cats.

2. Discussion of the Prior Art

Cats are not characteristically disposed toward voluntary aerobic exercise. It becomes the burden of the cat owner to create situations of sufficient interest to the feline to induce even short-lived and modest exertion for the health and well-being of the pet. Cats are, however, fascinated by light and enthralled by unpredictable jumpy movements, as for instance, by the bobbing end of a piece of hand-held string or yarn, or a ball rolling and bouncing across a floor. Intense sunlight reflected from a mirror or focused through a prism, if the room is sufficiently dark, will, when moved irregularly, cause even the more sedentary of cats to scamper after the lighted image in an amusing and therapeutic game of "cat and mouse." The disruption of having to darken a room to stage a cat workout and the uncertainty of collecting a convenient sunbeam in a lens or mirror render these approaches to establishing a regular life-enhancing cat exercise routine inconvenient at best.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Accordingly, it is an object of the present invention to provide an improved method of exercising a cat in normal day and night lighting environments.

It is a further object of the present invention to provide a method of providing amusing, entertaining and healthy exercise for a cat.

It is yet another object of the present invention to teach a method of exercising a cat effortlessly at any time.

In accordance with the present invention, a light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation (laser) device in a small hand-held configuration is used to project and move a bright pattern of light around a room to amuse and exercise a cat.

The method is effective, simple, convenient and inexpensive to practice and provides healthy exercise for the cat and amusement and entertainment for both the cat and the owner.

These and other objects, features and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following description and accompanying drawings of one specific embodiment thereof.
