That tactic might have genuinely piqued my interest! Probably not, but maybe...

I used to be able to pull off those kind of closing-time pickups. But usually it would be w someone I had danced with or had some flirty eye contact with across the bar so it was more of an "oh noes the club is closing, you'll just ~have~ to come back to mine to carry on drinking/flirting/???"

Corny CRJ lines would have been perfect for that kind of thing.

When I thought back on the night after I left, I think she mistook my watching the basketball game on the TV above and behind her for flirty eye contact. Which is not dissimilar to the time I was looking across the bar at a TGI Fridays in Alabama to keep an eye on the football scores when the guy sitting over there came over and asked me if I was gay, which led to some ill advised self-righteousness about "what's it to you?" because hey, one can only assume badness is coming from that situation when you're in Alabama.

Thankfully Carly Rae Jepsen has now given weird crepey girls a cute pickup line to use in those situations forever after.

If she had made a song where the chorus was "Hey, uh, so, do you like R. Crumb?" it would've resonated a lot more with my personal flirting history.

I didn't realize we were confining turn downs of offers just to bars and from strangers. The two times I've turned down offers were from girls I'd previously slept with and really didn't want to get all tangled up in something I didn't want. I've never been propositioned by a stranger who wasn't a prostitute, though. Who knows what I'd say under the right circumstances?

I'm not in a bad way at this point, really. I last had sex at xmas, which is what...9-ish months ago? 9 months is easy.

just wouldn't accept that I didn't want to sell her something for less than I thought it was worth, and made me talk for about 20 minutes before I had to cut off the conversation and leave. She did send me a photo (weird in itself) before she tried to bargain me down, because she didn't have a car and wanted me to drive out a few miles to meet her. Like "hey, I'm attractive, it's worth your time to drive out to sell me your phone". The pic BTW was either heavily photoshopped or simply of someone else.

Recently broke a 5-7 year intimacy drought. We were sober, we exchanged names, phone numbers, were fully disrobed, made out a lot, and neither of us fled immediately afterward - in fact we chatted and looked each other in the eyes in silence. I had literally forgotten that that was a thing! Whee! The intimacy was so surprising I had to make sure I didn't accidentally say "I love you" (which happened once many years ago....).

Basically instead of being like being each others' pocket pussies with pulses, it was pretty fucking awesome! I am really wanting to do it again and he seems really into it too.

I watched The Rules of Attraction in 2004 and even then the line "Before he came, it hit him. He can't remember the last time he had sex sober." gave me pause. Since then until last week, there *might* have been one or two sober quickies, but I can't remember them.

Sex sober is one of those almost-impossibilities for me. Which means that temperance probably has a lot to do with the length of this sex drought.

I've almost always had sex sober. Being drunk makes me too drowsy most of the time.

Realisation that this is no longer a sex drought. I really am never going to have sex again. :-(

Guh, sorry wcc. The conflicts between upstairs and downstairs suck. And sometimes parts in the middle get involved to make matters worse.

Sober sex is great but really difficult when I don't have an emotional connection with the other person. There were times when I thought I had E.D. b/c there was absolutely no stirring even though I was with a cute guy and dying of horniness, but I didn't care about him. I haven't had a real connection in over 10 years, so here and there I've gotten myself sssshhiittayyy enough to trick my heart into believing it was in love long enough for my head and crotch to get some play.

Then I stopped drinking in June and I wondered if that was the end, but and then along came a cloudburst. It's really fucking confusing. The newness of all this is like stuff I felt around age 14 at the first real blast of puberty.

I was afraid of sex for a long time (not so much the act but the *consequences*, ie parental, social, physiological)...never even occurred to me to try it sober almost until I was married. And then a long time to really relax into it. It's much nicer sober, but I def understand how hard it is to get past the anxieties of doing so. :)
