I released an EP last month while ILX was down:

More recently I downloaded a bunch of soft synths and made this song:

I've been using a bit more of my old analog gear, jamming tracks, and dirtying up by recording to tape recently.

Made this track just before Christmas which sounds a little bit Drexciyan, mixed with a riff that after finishing the track I realised sounds like Mamma Mia :D

two weeks pass...

Wrote and recorded a song on ukelele through my laptop speaker in an afternoon. It's very silly, but I kind of like it.

Trying to make crazy footwork music out of vintage ska samples. Not sure I've got the hang of it yet.

Laughing Gravy (dog latin), Thursday, 9 February 2012 23:44 (fourteen years ago)

started doing a bit of djing at parties again and making these long lindstromy transition tracks with only analog synth samples and live desk/controller automation. Would love to invest in better gear so I could do full sets of it but currently having to go through 5 or 6 times to get it right.

I've spent a year writing techno and house music with my boy, and this is our first finished song. It samples DJ Screw.

Plum in the Golden Vase

owen- i like your space track. have you made other stuff?

Dick Townwolves (Captain Ahab), Tuesday, 14 February 2012 08:17 (fourteen years ago)

that track is great!
Yeah I've got loads more. When I finish off a few other projects I might stick them up as a packaged download somewhere.

owenf, Tuesday, 14 February 2012 16:30 (fourteen years ago)

I've been incredibly prolific music-wise since I moved away from my computer with FL studio and realized I can make better tracks on Audacity alone (!)

This is my last outing (a kind of remix of Mr. Me Too by Clipse) and is probably among the more interesting examples of non dancey stuff I've made (though the intro is kind of stupid).

Bendy chorded polysynths are my very favorite thing. (especially if it's an oberheim)

Sorry because this is probably the wrong thread for this, but I want a decent controller pad under $200 and was thinking of going with the Alesis Controlpad Percussion Control Pad. Any better recommendations?

the akai mpd-24 is p awesome

trivial fursuit (m bison), Tuesday, 28 February 2012 17:58 (fourteen years ago)

hmm, that looks cool, but i think the pads are probably too small (i want to integrate the pad surfaces into my drum setup so that i can just kind of whack a pad on occasion without having to aim for a tiny surface)

my life is starting over again (Z S), Tuesday, 28 February 2012 18:00 (fourteen years ago)

i guess if you already have a laptop, one of those alesis pad controllers is way cheaper than getting a roland spd-s.

40oz of tears (Jordan), Tuesday, 28 February 2012 18:16 (fourteen years ago)

if anyone wants to use some of my vocals on their tracks, let me know. my voice is kind of soulflexible, it would be good for some things that i do not know how to produce myself. thanks.

I would like this too surm. Want to start some sort of project w/male vox soon.

owenf, Tuesday, 6 March 2012 10:30 (fourteen years ago)

cool, please feel free to hit me up.

surm, Tuesday, 6 March 2012 20:15 (fourteen years ago)

re: pads, the video game rock drum pads/controllers that sometimes are very cheap on clearance are electronically identical to alesis/roland edrum pads (they are just these very cheap components surrounded by rubber padding), and sometimes interchangeable even without adapters, and the adapter is usually a 1/8" -> 1/4" if there is one.

I've been working on variations of this song for years. This is about as finished as it's gonna be. It's called "Misfire":

First working demo of this song, first time we played it through and recorded through laptop mic, so apologies about the shonkiness. I play guitar and vox and wrote the lyrics. Songwriting wise I'm fairly pleased with it but I'd like suggestions on how it could be improved (besides practicing and tightening up and using proper recording Equipment I mean)
