What a fuckin dumb excuse for a holiday! Does it REALLY need to go on to the 3rd? I haven't got my stupid benefit because of this stupid holiday. Oh I'm fuming.

Does anyone else think it's kinda strange that the only reason for making New Years Day a holiday is that everyone got too drunk the night before??

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Saturday, 3 January 2004 02:25 (twenty years ago) link

I tried to call winz and they're not open til MONDAY.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Saturday, 3 January 2004 02:26 (twenty years ago) link

What are you, scared? Scared of the truth??

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Saturday, 3 January 2004 06:22 (twenty years ago) link

Is it just the fact that New Year fell on a Thursday this year?

its fucking lame, eh elisabeth. meanwhile your bank fees swallow what remaining money you had.

I looked at my bank statement and it seems I only got paid half as much last week, so it's just a winz problem. The holiday is stupid everyday of the week!

i'm pissed off with my boss today. he usually pays me for public holidays, and he didn't this year. i wish i knew my rights, goddammit.

Turns out I was meant to get another doctor's cert, but they didn't send me any warning, or anything to get filled out.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Monday, 5 January 2004 06:45 (twenty years ago) link

Also don't they cancel the mail on that day? I HATE it when that happens, even on Sundays.

Livvie (Livvie), Monday, 5 January 2004 10:02 (twenty years ago) link

As far as I know Di, you're casual staff so you don't actually have rights.

Minty (Minty), Monday, 5 January 2004 14:13 (twenty years ago) link

Yeah no mail for two days! Suxor!

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Monday, 5 January 2004 23:40 (twenty years ago) link

Has anyone here had a job that wasn't on a casual contract, just to avoid sick leave/holiday pay/treating staff like human beings? & they can even call you a Casual if you're working a 9-5 Monday to Friday 'normal' job, loophole exploiting bastids.

we have started using guerilla tactics at my work cos our boss is such a tightwad! its fun! i was falling asleep on the job until i started forcing complaint forms on the customers!

Update! I just went to the doctors and then to WInz and they said I'll get paid tonight. Oh thank god. Then they told me I shouldn't have lost the form I got in the mail, and I told them I got no such thing.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 02:31 (twenty years ago) link

Now I'm on a really nervey post-doctor and winz posting spree. It's actually not much fun, I'm trying to fill time.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 02:34 (twenty years ago) link

So ignore most of what I say!

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 02:34 (twenty years ago) link

i'm glad you are going to get paid finally.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 06:17 (twenty years ago) link

Me toohoohoo. It's actually pretty cool when you get like two and a half weeks at once!

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 10:23 (twenty years ago) link

Is it March that there are tax returns?
