I hate places in England that have the original name that local places in the U.S. are named after

When I say Kensington I mean the neighborhood in Philadelphia where my mother grew up, not some place in England.

Maybe that was a bit excessive, but I have no interest in having Rockist get alienated and I'm fairly short on patience. And I liked Elisabeth's reply.

haha, yeah after our places are the original, we should have to have 'ENGLAND' after it, and america should be the place expected to be meant when somewhere is being described, although having the place named AFTER the proper place here=]

He found a sarcastic way to say EXACTLY what I was thinking... I think. Why is it annoying that when people speak of Kensington and they mean the one here in the US but people think Englad... it's because that one was the original. In layman's terms: Why we hating on England for having the original name? We should hate on U.S. for copying and now no one undersatnds which one...

well get used to it.... virtually ALL of America is named after bits of, not England, but Great Britain. (I HATE it when Americans who, when meaning Great Britain, say 'England'. It's like calling America 'Canada'.... there are FOUR countries in Great Britain - Wales, Ireland, Scotland and England - and they're four VERY different countries).
