The house is fine, but boy did I react to these chairs.

DOORS. What do they do?

• Provide privacy

• Blocks sounds from rest of domicile

• Provides barrier to smells, moisture

• Helps regulate airflow

In this half-million-dollar listing, there's a bedroom with those barn doors, a closet enclosed by one of Steven Tyler's scarves and, by my count, THREE BATHROOMS that feature only CURTAINS.

pplains, Wednesday, 17 May 2023 15:24 (three years ago)

thanks it's hideous

Tracer Hand, Wednesday, 17 May 2023 15:36 (three years ago)

Bedroom with barndoors I can kind of understand, the rest of it is...wow.

Goose Bigelow, Fowl Gigolo (the table is the table), Wednesday, 17 May 2023 19:25 (three years ago)

I just don't understand the appeal of interior barndoors in general.

pplains, Wednesday, 17 May 2023 19:29 (three years ago)

you want airflow but don’t want a pet to get into the room— imagine it like a pet or kid fence

Goose Bigelow, Fowl Gigolo (the table is the table), Wednesday, 17 May 2023 22:25 (three years ago)

They look rattly though. Maybe I need to see some in person.

For me at least, a bathroom needs an effective barrier to noise and smells.

That's a security monitor. Which only makes it worse, of course.

I didn't catch that, but it sure is.

Hope no one steals their pool.

i didn't notice at first, it was just little buckets of water each time, but then I went for a dive and found out the hard way there was no pool left

three weeks pass...

I just need to make a new thread devoted to television sets in the wrong places.

https://i.imgur.com/enMZIU0.png

Bad enough that the set in the center is not just behind the door, but also appearing to stick out further than the stopper, but also that there's another television set located six feet away.

Anyway. Feel free to say hi to Lou and Kenny while you're here.

Scrolling through this listing, seeing this one, thinking, "ha, yeah, a little cozy, but I bet the 14-year-old would be right at home here."

https://i.imgur.com/fgyqBZV.png

But then I come around the corner and hit this one. Suddenly, a theme emerges.

https://i.imgur.com/xtluOfu.png

What in the fuck is happening here? Is the bed really bolted to two walls and hung from the ceiling by a chain? That's it, even for a kid?

And they sell ladders that, you know, reach the top bunk. Trying to picture how this all works without knocking holes into the wall.

Haven't even mentioned the swing yet.

Here's another view of the room, but I'm telling you, we get more questions than answers from it.

Maybe she doesn't even use the ladder? Just a swing and a jump each night?

pplains, Thursday, 18 July 2024 21:47 (one year ago)

And yes, there is a third child.

https://i.imgur.com/KPKXDzr.png

This one may be the youngest, but already, she's mastered the art of the long jump and doesn't even need a stupid ladder.

pplains, Thursday, 18 July 2024 21:48 (one year ago)

How did they find a solid beam that was straight up from the corners like that?

pplains, Thursday, 18 July 2024 21:49 (one year ago)

I bet they didn’t

Bad Bairns (Boring, Maryland), Thursday, 18 July 2024 23:19 (one year ago)

in the uk attic joists are 400mm apart, about 16 inches. you might get lucky.

koogs, Friday, 19 July 2024 03:44 (one year ago)

I'm no engineer, but I kinda feel like that support chain from the ceiling ain't doing shit

longtime caller, first time listener (man alive), Friday, 19 July 2024 04:48 (one year ago)

That set up is probably fine if you have the platform nailed to each of the studs and the chain ties into a ceiling joist.

il lavoro mi rovina la giornata (PBKR), Friday, 19 July 2024 11:48 (one year ago)

=I'm sure there is a structurally sound way to do it. But also like why? And why no rails and why not a ladder that attaches to the bed?

longtime caller, first time listener (man alive), Friday, 19 July 2024 13:52 (one year ago)

Yeah, the ladder thing is very weird.

il lavoro mi rovina la giornata (PBKR), Friday, 19 July 2024 14:53 (one year ago)

Should be a trebuchet to launch the kids into the bed.

il lavoro mi rovina la giornata (PBKR), Friday, 19 July 2024 14:53 (one year ago)

suppose the tour is confusing until you reach the garage to see a giant lever below the sign "FLOOR VOLTAGE" with "0V" and "20,000 V" at each end

145 feet up in a Jeffrey Pine (Sufjan Grafton), Friday, 19 July 2024 18:08 (one year ago)

There's just a little part of me that sees that and wonders "Do you like your kids?"

longtime caller, first time listener (man alive), Friday, 19 July 2024 20:03 (one year ago)

After awhile, I decided that the kids must sleep on the floor.

pplains, Friday, 19 July 2024 20:20 (one year ago)

My kids would happily sleep on the floor if that meant they never had to make their bed. These rooms are perfect for them.

But go inside. Just go inside and watch the game from your living room. You're embarrassing yourself, and you're embarrassing the neighborhood.

I'm going to assume this setup has something to do with the smoker in the corner.

> International design touches such as Mexican kitchen tiles, Italian marble in a Roman-style bathroom with “Sicis” mosaics, and Spanish swan faucets elevate this home’s character.

description is missing a few details...

koogs, Tuesday, 12 November 2024 15:22 (one year ago)

Wait I don't understand, why are we mad at Morris Street? I think it looks incredible, I love it even though admittedly it's over the top in a certain IG-ready aesthetic and I maybe wouldn't have chosen every detail.

Ima Gardener (in orbit), Tuesday, 12 November 2024 16:38 (one year ago)

The last picture(s) of the attic…not mad just funny to live in a Pharoah’s cursed tomb

Booger Swamp Road (Boring, Maryland), Tuesday, 12 November 2024 16:45 (one year ago)

Oh I would 100% have chosen the detail where the toilet in the attic is inside a mummy. 100%.
