I passed at truck the other day that had ABE 221 on it.
Which you think, so what. But my state is about to make the change from 123 ABC to AA-1234. ABE 221 would've had to have been issued at least 25 years ago!
And it was the current design, plus the state gives you a new number every seven years whether you want one or not. Whatever.
I do admire the guy for coming up with a personalized plate that just looks like everyone else's.

The state assumes that the reflectability/readability of the plate gets worn down after so many years.
Now, why don't they just send me a new plate with the same number? Probably because it's easier just to grab a new one off of a pile of randoms than it would be to duplicate it. What if the one they duped had a typo? That could be fun! But I don't really know the answer.
