I hate coffee

my major complaint with french pressing is that the coffee does not stay as warm as in a drip pot when it's on a burner. also, it is more labor intensive if you need to make a lot of coffee (say, if you have a guest and each of you wants to drink more than one cup). also for some reason i feel like i don't get the benefit of the caffeine as much from french press?

i am not going instant. i have had nescafe a lot - v popular in europe, actually. but in the morning i need to grind some beans and have fresh, real coffee.

yeah all those things are true. i can only have one cup and am always waiting for it to cool down enough to drink anyway. i don't know about the caffeine thing though. could be you have had only dark roasts from it or something.

no i have been using the same beans i used in my old drip pot.

oh i didn't know *you* had been using it. my parents use drip pot on stove, it works ok

thinking about getting a drip pot these days. i've been french pressin it but i just drink too much coffee and it feels like i spend a quarter of my day assembling it. would still use the press for a special evening cup or something.

yeah it's good for people like me because i can never get to that stage of coffee drinking, dunno what's wrong with me

that is a good thing imo i go through so many coffee beans!

I still like my swissgold onecup, it's easier to use than a french press and the coffee stays pretty hot.

not really good for volume though, I think probably nothing beats a percolator for making large volumes of coffee w/o too much labor.

I've been thinking about getting a regallar ol drip pot, too. I've actually cut back to about 2-3 cups a day, tops, so it's not so much the volume but that when I get up at 6:00 for work it'd be nice to just sorta hit a button and let coffee brew itself while I hop in the shower, instead of waiting around for water to boil on the stove etc.

i have a one cup filter i got in Hanoi for like the equivalent of 29 cents that makes the best damn drip coffee (no paper filter bs either). it's all stainless steel and so easy to use/clean.

we talkeda bout mint syrup in coffee upthread, but not mint leaves. i think i'd be afraid. i have been drinking trader joe's coffee the past few days and it's ok, not great. i'm gonna go back to fancy coffee soon.

i always thought tons of sugar in coffee was a crazy american thing but i was in italy this summer and had my mind blown by every single italian dumping mounds of sugar into their espresso at the coffee bars

coffee-drinking has been a very different experience now that i no longer use cream or sugar.

yeah it's way better but also it makes you too picky sometimes, won't drink just any old office coffee, look like a jerk

I like sweet coffees--lattes and the like--but not regular brewed coffee. I didn't even like that until a few years ago.

i liked sweet coffees, too. but they're loaded with sugar and calories, i sadly discovered.

Little did I know that my pour-over method (with plastic on-top-of-cup thingie and non-presoaked coffee filters) was a thing! I actully prefer the taste from auto-dripping, but it is too much hassle for just one cup.
