Men's Pants

I do not know how to shop for pants. Every time I get a pair, there is something that is just not right. Too tight, too big at the hips, fabric is all wrong, etc

Where do you guys find good presentable slacks these days??

I swear it's almost funny how many pants I've gotten that I've been like ... o_O

I have pairs of dress slacks from H&M and Muji - both are pretty okay

oh Muji might not be a bad idea.

for work slacks the j crew urban slim has done me pretty well. not too tight, not too baggy. but ya know ... it totally depends on your body type. for comparison, h&m pants fit me like i'm going out to cruise for dong at the local roller rink, and gap pants make me feel like an alienated late 90s teenager again. make of that what you will.

I've found that the express 'photographer' cut is pretty good for people with thunder thighs, fwiw

when i do find a pair, i wear them every day until i stumble upon a decent substitute.

i want to find some more of these Ambig jeans that i got in new orleans, they fit perfectly and they're kind of stretchy to boot.

Would love to learn to cut and stitch my own trousers.
Couldn't find non jeans that I could wear comfortably, not very comfortable in wool.

as far as chinos go i like the brooks, j crew and lands end canvas (the "refined" slim fit) versions. epaulet in new york is $$$$$$$$ but their pants fit so fucking well.

their "canvas" brand is for young hip types like us, according to the 10,000 catalogues they send me every week. when their stuff is on sale, which is all the damn time, i think the price:quality is pretty good and the cuts are way more reasonable than other stuff at that price.

the regular lands end line is ok for "tailored fit" shirts but it's all cut for big midwestern middle management dudes.

what the hell is cuff length, i'm trying to check out at jcrew and they throw this wrench into the works

are these otherwise good pants y/n? looks like all their "deals" result in getting 2 pairs for ~$100 which is not awful if they are good. i def have big thighs & have felt too tight in certain pants

the pair I have, in black, def looks v faded after only a few washes

i have on some tommy hilfiger pants today that i bought on the theory that the exact some ones as shorts are p much my fav shorts. as pants you can tell much more that the material is prob cheap cuz they're too rigid & crumply

Last week I split the seat of my third pair of dress pants. The first two were fromJos. A. Bank suits. This time it was a pair of flat front Nauticas from Macys. So I've just given up on life and bought a couple pairs of dockers. I'm prettybummed about it, but maybe they wont splitwhen I'm crouching down to pick something up? Andif they do, I guess they're just $40. They really look like shit though.

The Dockers Alpha Khakis are quite nice IMO

i finally found one--one! pair of dress pants that i really love. unfortunately they were on a clearance rack in the saks outlet and by the time i went back there were no more.

those dockers alpha khakis fit nice except they are way too low rise. i am very tall and a grownup and tuck my shirt in and having the waist of my pants like halfway down my dick makes me look fuckin weird.

where do i get heavy wool "classic" cut ankle swingers as worn in e.g. the master?

in february i went to top man for the first time in my life and basically all their wool trousers fit me and felt great. i have been wasting my life!!

Top Man is one of the only places that does trousers slim enough to fit me. Everywhere else's slim fit are like clown pants on me. It's really annoying. I prob should use a tailor but until then it's mostly Top Man.

topman trousers are horrible though. yeah i just buy things in charity shops and have them taken in at my dry cleaners now.

Hey guys, I mostly wear jeans and boots, but I've been thinking I'd like to wear casual pants and boots. Maybe Chinos. I went to Nordstrom but every pair I tried on wear too slim for boots. Any ideas?

What kinds of boots? I wear skinny jeans and red wings and I only somewhat look like a cliche. I probably need to revisit my jeans situation though because i gained some weight in my thighs this year.

am i missing something or is a straight cut fine for boots? i wear these fkin rad cowboy boots with straight cut chinos all the time and you just pull the leg over the shaft and it's fine.

if you're in shape and cowboy boots are your daily wear and you absolutely nail the hem i think it is possible for bootcut jeans to be acceptable. but i probably just described like 4 guys in the entire country.

I wear cowboy boots. Straight cut would be fine for my boots, I think. But all I've found are skinny pants. I wear straight cut slim wranglers and RRL. Boot cut is ok until they are washed and shrink and then they have the worse shape.

all chinos have a straight fit iirc! hit up macy's instead of nordstrom, try dockers or levis. if you want 'nicer' check j. crew or banana republic, even 'nicer' brooks brothers clark advantage chinos are built like a tank ($90) but maybe a little dressier than what you really want. j crew factory online, 'bleecker' fit, like 30 bucks on sale.

^ just got some bleecker fit for $9 and damn these are some comfortable pants. Even if it looks like I could hang out in the madchester scene. Got to be a loose fit
