Tattoos

I have none. I will never have one. I have nothing against them; they're just not for me. Sometimes it seems as though there is a law where I live which demands that everyone have at least one tattoo before being allowed to enter the city.

What do you guys think of tattoos? Especially the kind of thing where people have sunk large amounts of cash into full sleeves and whatnot...

I know someone who got Rodney Dangerfield tattooed on his arm. Toronto pretty much requires tattoos too, I'm still on the fence. Less on the fence recently because my boyfriend had a work crush on a Kat Von D wannabe (grr) and started talking about how we should get tattooed all the time :P

Tattoo rules:

1. Face = off-limits. Face ink is tacky tacky tacky.
2. Try not to get a monochrome tat, especially black. Unless you are a sailor.
3. Original art. Copying some comic book character or Jesus Lizard logo is dullerific.
4. Don't wear clothes that scream, HEY LOOK I AM INKED. You just look like a dork.
5. Genitalia: Fine, since I don't have to look at it. But really, don't expect anyone to fuck you because you have a dragon on yr dick.

Pls add more rules vvvv.

libcrypt, Tuesday, 24 June 2008 17:27 (ten years ago) Permalink

7. No tribal tats. ESPECIALLY no bicep rings!

Hey FFM - did you get my message on the Puppy thread? I probably could have emailed you but I forgot about the webmail option.

Tatoos. I have two and will probably get at least one more in the near future - probably of Luiz Guzman now that I've seen that.

8. +1 if yr ink actually makes people laugh.

tattoos are sooo hot but i don't think i'll ever have the gumption to get one

I live in tattoo central but I've never had one and the only one that tempts me would be very discreet, but I couldn't care less what other people do and some of them are really quite pretty. I kind of worry what they'll look like when they're old, though.

Michael White, Tuesday, 24 June 2008 17:31 (ten years ago) Permalink

dry and wrinkly :(

Surmounter, Tuesday, 24 June 2008 17:32 (ten years ago) Permalink

I've got a bunch, but nothing that can't be covered if necessary - no face, hands, or neck. I do like to have ones that are humorous to some level, not like stupid jokes but something that means something to me. More often than not the person putting it on kind of scratches their head or laughs or at least says that they've never done a tattoo of this before.

Wow. I will never understand the "tattoos are sexy" thing in a million years.

Also, Michael's last sentence there, yeah...

ugh SO sexy. i'm the type of person who thinks tommy lee is really hott. ::shrugs::

Surmounter, Tuesday, 24 June 2008 17:38 (ten years ago) Permalink

Good ink is hot, no doubt. Bad ink, on the other hand....

libcrypt, Tuesday, 24 June 2008 17:38 (ten years ago) Permalink

Tasteful and well done tattoos can be sexy but they must also be well cared for and retouched when necessary. When I'm old it won't matter because they're in discreet places, I probably won't care and if I do then removal will probably be quick and cheap.

xpost ENBB hahahahaha oh man, you found me! I just checked the Puppy thread, which I'd missed.

i have been pondering a tattoo for about 2 years now. but not really sure what i would get.

it would:
1. be assymetrical
2. i think something down the back of my neck and across one shoulder blade would be cool, but am leery about neck tattoos in my old age
3. be an original design by blaine fontana, if ever possible.

ramzi, i also think good tattoos are super hot, esp on the right people. i'm trying to convince my bf to get one up his calf, since he has super sexy mountain-biker legs, and is also just one of those guys who would look hot with tattoos.

Rubyredd, Wednesday, 25 June 2008 01:53 (ten years ago) Permalink

and i know this sounds lame and you can all laugh at me and warn me about the longterm risks, but i would also seriously have my bf's initials subtley weaved into my tattoo design.

>_<

you can't steal these ideas but here's what I got and I'm pretty sure I'm done:

I have something pretty close to this on my right shoulder, filled in solid black of the beetle emblem:

and this on the left shoulder, inverted:

RR - despite most people warning against it, I got my bf's name as/in one of my tatoos when we'd only been together a year. That was 2002 and he's now my husband.

ENBB, Wednesday, 25 June 2008 02:02 (ten years ago) Permalink

yeah... if i had even the slightest doubt we wouldn't last the distance there's no way in hell i'd even think twice about it. but ya know - i'm sure about this one!
