Are these bearable? I have high arches, supinate badly, and need an athletic shoe that doesn't look like the 80s vomited on it. But all sneakers look basically awful to me so I can't tell.

They seem fine. The little rainbow bar is a little bit random but it's not very intrusive. I am a fan of asics for running, I think they make good value running shoes (as someone who is only a casual runner, can't speak to the high performance crowd). I have Asics trail running shoes and they are kind of ugly but I don't really care. Some Asics are nicer but these were like $55.

They look ideal for convalescent home / psych ward staff

I went to a specialized running shoe store and talked with v knowledgeable staff, tried their recs and ended up in a pair of asics which are serving me just fine; my issue is cranky knee that needs some cushion for rehabbing purposes.

But yeah why this stuff cost so much?
