Oh and duh "the brunette" is none other than Claudia Schiffer!

quincie, Thursday, 2 October 2008 21:08 (seventeen years ago)

i got my hair cut yesterday sort of like that, but no bangs

also i read that first as "claudia schefter" !! :)

76 yards into the wind! (daria-g), Friday, 3 October 2008 01:42 (seventeen years ago)

wow..claudia still rockin hotness

hey schef, i was in walmart yesterday buying dream blonde shade "glistening magnolia" (ie fuckin light blonde) and I noticed a dream blonde lightener/red banisher in a blue box. maybe that would do the trick?

Bright Future (sunny successor), Friday, 3 October 2008 01:51 (seventeen years ago)

ooh interesting. quincie, i've done that cut before. it is fun! go for it! also, i have done angled bob on and off for 15 years and yeah, it is kind of annoying when it's suddenly popular and your cut feels not good anymore!

i am currently just below shoulders... i am at the make or break point of growing it out LONG or chopping again. for now, it is awkward, so i think i dye?

highly theoretical, of course. (tehresa), Friday, 3 October 2008 07:03 (seventeen years ago)

you might as well give it another couple of inches before you chop it. you've put up with growing it out until now, so don't give up when the goal is in sight!

lauren, Friday, 3 October 2008 14:17 (seventeen years ago)

i know! i have to keep reminding myself of that!

highly theoretical, of course. (tehresa), Friday, 3 October 2008 14:18 (seventeen years ago)

it's totally hair-cutting season, eh

i haven't dealt with my hair for a very long time, months. somehow the colour grew out really well, but this week it hit the point where roots are looking reallly dark and just a bit beyond rocknroll to lameland and everybody who's used to me with lighter/blonder hair is suddenly whoa look at how dark your hair *really* is!!

i'm just gonna go get it cut and get my hairdresser to do whatever she feels is right re: colour. might just go back to dark hair with some highlights

i can't believe i'm now a person who cares abt colour in my hair

also: hi, i love style, i still <3 u
i have been busy
in a good way tho

terminator boyfriend (rrrobyn), Friday, 3 October 2008 15:45 (seventeen years ago)

xxxpost to Jaq, yeah, Elumen is a salon brand. :)

Finefinemusic, Friday, 3 October 2008 19:19 (seventeen years ago)

Comparisons made with my new haircut thus far: Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction, Anne Hathaway in Get Smart, Kate Blanchett (sp?) in the most recent Indiana Jones. So far I am quite happy with these comparisons.

Mr. Que was a bit put off, but he claims it is just because it looks so different. He's all "well it is like if I dyed my blue." Um, no it's nothing like that, actually.

quincie, Thursday, 9 October 2008 15:50 (seventeen years ago)

Sounds great to me, Quincie! I always loved that haircut.

I am trying something new today.. wearing my bangs straight-across rather than parted on the side as I usually do. I have a pretty raging cowlick that prevents me from trying but this morning it just sort of clicked and my bangs allowed me to spread them across my forehead. I wish I had my camera so I could fish for opinions!

mineminefusic (Finefinemusic), Thursday, 9 October 2008 16:09 (seventeen years ago)

Yay for new haircuts!

I found myself in Ulta on Monday where, lo and behold, they had plenty of Hydrience on the shelf! I bought all the boxes of my fave 42. So hopefully it is not gone forever, but maybe just not being carried by the places I used to be able to buy it.

Jaq, Thursday, 9 October 2008 16:14 (seventeen years ago)

i am getting my hair did tomorrow
it has been a while
i look like heart
but with roots

terminator boyfriend (rrrobyn), Friday, 10 October 2008 22:58 (seventeen years ago)

oh i wish there was ulta here. but i think the closest one is long island.

i am still thinking about coloring...

highly theoretical, of course. (tehresa), Friday, 10 October 2008 23:51 (seventeen years ago)

terminator boyfriend (rrrobyn), Sunday, 12 October 2008 06:35 (seventeen years ago)

whoa I'm kinda lost with what just happened here.

quincie, Sunday, 12 October 2008 15:41 (seventeen years ago)

rrrobyn had an awesome hair-dying experience. then she went to thanksgiving dinner and got drunk. then she said we should all go to mtl for hair and robyn fulfillment, which sounds like a great excuse to go to mtl to me, and she thought that was cool.

highly theoretical, of course. (tehresa), Sunday, 12 October 2008 15:48 (seventeen years ago)

b-b-but Thanksgiving is not until next month???? And I don't have a clue what mtl is??? *cries for failure to understand*

quincie, Sunday, 12 October 2008 16:40 (seventeen years ago)

canadians be foolin u!

canadian thanksgiving is in oct. mtl = montreal.

highly theoretical, of course. (tehresa), Sunday, 12 October 2008 16:43 (seventeen years ago)

A+++ rrrrobyn transalation skillz

Bright Future (sunny successor), Sunday, 12 October 2008 16:43 (seventeen years ago)

i mean i guess if you did not know about canadian thanksgiving it would have been confusing but there was not much to translate otherwise! maybe i am just used to the awesomeness of rrrobyn!!!

smoooooth.

i want your apartment!!!

highly theoretical, of course. (tehresa), Sunday, 12 October 2008 17:05 (seventeen years ago)

thx i <3 mah apt

btw my hair is sweaty from running not disgustingly greasy in the 1st pic - not really sure what possessed me to post that photo to the internet

joseph sixpack (ice crӕm), Sunday, 12 October 2008 17:12 (seventeen years ago)

lol us tricksy canadians, using weird acronyms (t-dot represent!) and having holidays on the wrong weekends... not to mention sticking "u"s in where they aren't normally...

anyway guys I usually wear my bangs to one side because of massive cowlicks of doom, but I have been experimenting this week and am kind of liking them straight across, though they aren't as perfect as most peoples'... opinions??

also my hair is kind of two different colours and that is sad but people keep stopping me on the street to complement the colour so I think I can live with it.. dyeing it a few weeks back saved me from having to get it cut and now I am unsure whether I want to cut it or grow it.. ahh, decisions. I may let it grow out even more so I can do a more angled bob next time.

joe sixpack - i think the cut looks great! At first I thought they were front/side views of the same cut instead of before/after and I was a little scared.

mineminefusic (Finefinemusic), Sunday, 12 October 2008 17:45 (seventeen years ago)

i very much like them straight across!

highly theoretical, of course. (tehresa), Sunday, 12 October 2008 17:57 (seventeen years ago)

yay! I feel like a "poser" (Canadians: "hoser") because they are bumpy and uneven and I am not, you know, whatsherface with the bangs from PRAus.. but my big dumb forehead has been hogging the glory for 25 years, I want to put it away for a while!

mineminefusic (Finefinemusic), Sunday, 12 October 2008 18:02 (seventeen years ago)

omg what's her name.. those bangs were INCREDIBLE. i feel like every time i try to do the straight across bang, i can't get a hair dresser to cut them thick enough so that they'll lay well - i think that's a trick to it. if they are too thin, they mess up too easily. i see all these girls w/ the perfect bangs but they start like, halfway back on their heads. meanwhile, my hair dressers never want to give me the weight i desire in a bang. maybe they are looking out for me? i don't know.

highly theoretical, of course. (tehresa), Sunday, 12 October 2008 18:10 (seventeen years ago)

ok tips plz! can i get away with a mahogany shade? what do i do to make growing out less tedious?!

http://xs132.xs.to/xs132/08410/100_8328459.jpg>;
also why does my neck look like that of an 85 year old?

highly theoretical, of course. (tehresa), Sunday, 12 October 2008 18:22 (seventeen years ago)

oops

http://xs132.xs.to/xs132/08410/100_8328459.jpg

highly theoretical, of course. (tehresa), Sunday, 12 October 2008 18:23 (seventeen years ago)

I also suffer from the cowlick that makes the straight-across bangs somewhat challenging--the trick for me seems to be hitting them with a hot blow dryer as soon as I get out of the shower, getting them dead dry while combing them down with a fine-tooth comb. The rest of my hair I let air dry a bit as I do the coffee/paper/b'fast routine.

It is my back-of-the-head cowlick, however, that creates a major challenge. Doesn't help that I can't see it too well while attempting to tame it.

quincie, Sunday, 12 October 2008 18:25 (seventeen years ago)

BTW finefine your bangs and color are v. v. adorable.

quincie, Sunday, 12 October 2008 18:27 (seventeen years ago)

i have this one section of hair in the back right quadrant that ALWAYS flips out. no amount of flat ironing can fix it. it has a mind of its own.

highly theoretical, of course. (tehresa), Sunday, 12 October 2008 18:28 (seventeen years ago)

I think you could probably do mahogany but the slight shadow on your face obscures the skin tone slightly.. but you're talking to a girl with darkish red hair on top and almost orange ends, so take what I say with a grain of salt :P I think that the new hair colour helps make the growing out a little easier - it made my own split ends look a little better when I re-did them recently, though I did a shit job and I am losing colour fast on the ends (I bleached my hair for 3-4 years straight so it barely holds colour - you can see how some parts look kind of silvery/pinkish)

I also like to mess around with new styles when I am growing it out - sometimes I do a crazy mass of bobby pins holding my hair back in a birds nest sort of way, or this week I have been fiddling with my bangs to make my hair look different but still fun.

The PRAus girl with the bangs - Pavlova? I am all mixed up because I'm still watching AusNTM with Paloma on it.. such cute names! oh, googled it - Petrova! I can't find one damn picture of her but yeah, I have been snipping away extra pieces of hair and pretty soon 99% of my head will be pulled forward to create a fringe to rival hers. I think my hairdressers have been looking out for me but also lazy: everyone has said "oh with that cowlick you will NEVER be able to wear them straight across" and while it is bumpy and not sleek - well, neither am I.

vvcool that winner (no names incase Sunny d/ls it) was as nice as she seemed! I was rooting for the #2 but all three were so fun.

mineminefusic (Finefinemusic), Sunday, 12 October 2008 18:48 (seventeen years ago)

yeah lighting not so good in my room. i am very fair with mostly pink undertones i think (unless someone who knwos me has noticed something different and would like to speak up). i generally only wear cool colors. i was thinking maybe something kate walshy? she's a little darker these days - not that bright red she had before.

highly theoretical, of course. (tehresa), Sunday, 12 October 2008 18:52 (seventeen years ago)

weird, i am googling her and sometimes she has nice fair skin and otehr times she has this weird bronzey color. i hate when pale people try to sunless tan.

highly theoretical, of course. (tehresa), Sunday, 12 October 2008 18:55 (seventeen years ago)

ooh yeah, something a little like this? http://img2.timeinc.net/people/i/2007/stylewatch/gallery/red_lips/kate_walsh.jpg I think that colour's very pretty and since it's a pretty natural shade it's bound to look flattering! I have pinkish skin (obviously, I gave you a closeup up there) and I find extreme dark or extreme light work for me, but medium browns make me look bor-ing. Sadly if you look at my eyebrows - medium brown is my natural colour. Thank god for hair dye.

hahah yeah I noticed that too - I try to discount celebrities' skin colour altogether since it's always so schizo.

mineminefusic (Finefinemusic), Sunday, 12 October 2008 18:57 (seventeen years ago)

yeah, i like that shade! i want something to make me pop a little more but that's not TOO outrageous. i lovvve your shade but i don't think i have the time/patience/money for upkeep at this point in my life. i also have medium brown natural color. it's kind of awful. i grew it out for 8 months then gave up and put a semiperm on it that ended up making it look black. it's calmed down now (6 weeks later) but i am bored again.

highly theoretical, of course. (tehresa), Sunday, 12 October 2008 19:01 (seventeen years ago)

hahaha I don't have the money for my hair either so I stopped going to the salon and bought the dye to DIY it and it has been fading faster than when I did it professionally - but for a lot less money at least! I think a brown with a nice cherry hue to it would really work, especially since winter is coming (don't know where you live or if you have a winter haha.. I'll share some of mine if you don't)

mineminefusic (Finefinemusic), Sunday, 12 October 2008 19:03 (seventeen years ago)

yeah cherry is a shade i <3 very much so i was thinking of a brown with cherry in it. now i have to find someone to do it. argh.

i live in nyc. sometimes we have winter. sometimes not so much. but trust me, i spent 6 years in rochester, ny, just across the lake from you, so i have had my share of lake effect!

highly theoretical, of course. (tehresa), Sunday, 12 October 2008 19:05 (seventeen years ago)

oh man i have already found a pair of awesome glasses on googles4u! must go get exam STAT!

highly theoretical, of course. (tehresa), Sunday, 12 October 2008 19:07 (seventeen years ago)

mwahahahaha the funny thing I read whilst googling the company is that their glasses come in the weirdest packaging - glasses themselves wrapped securely in a hard shell case but the case is pretty much mailed in a cloth bag? very weird but shipping is free and it's coming from pakistan so ... there are a few different blogs with pictures of their glasses and comments on the quality and the general consensus was for $25 (glasses, frames and free shipping) it was a damn good deal. I ordered these:

http://goggles4u.com/images/22506.jpg

glee!

oh, you mentioned lake effect and now I am remembering how cold I am about to get, hahaha. today is a ridiculously beautiful sunny day in toronto (probably the last til march) and I am stuck in my office! booo!

mineminefusic (Finefinemusic), Sunday, 12 October 2008 19:15 (seventeen years ago)

i think these look intersting

ooh adorable, I think I was looking at a similar pair in blue but ended up spending the rest of my money at zenni 'cause the glasses were a little cheaper and I was feel Christmas-related guilt

mineminefusic (Finefinemusic), Sunday, 12 October 2008 19:26 (seventeen years ago)

i love bangs. i am never going without bangs again. a 1" flat iron works wonders.

lauren, Sunday, 12 October 2008 19:47 (seventeen years ago)

true!

highly theoretical, of course. (tehresa), Sunday, 12 October 2008 19:50 (seventeen years ago)

but yeah, t - i think to get the thick curtain effect, you have to go deep. my situation is different because of how short my hair is, but my bangs are like my whole head.
