Literally go on Amazon and search for any one of those.

There's more Italy than necessary. (in orbit), Friday, 30 November 2018 18:21 (seven years ago)

as far as dumb ex fratboy type brands go i got some "outlier" "futureworks" pants and they are good

lol i have outlier jeans and a weird rain jacket thing from them and theyre both fantastic. tbh i like a bunch of their "Experiments" as i also love cowl necks and clothes made out of nanites or helicopter sheeting or living silk but they are often sold out when i think about getting them which tbh isnt all that often

feel like "ex-fratboy" is slotting the brand into the wrong sociological framework tho

$100 basic t-shirt, idk that just bugs me. I'm sure it's a great fucking t-shirt

rip van wanko, Friday, 30 November 2018 21:29 (seven years ago)

just looking at their website and their chino pants on the homepage look v good and in general stuff looks more like nerdy yuppie that cares about clothes than fratty

( ͡☉ ͜ʖ ͡☉) (jim in vancouver), Friday, 30 November 2018 21:37 (seven years ago)

well like a techy fratboy. or a prolific reddit poster who bathes.

adam, Friday, 30 November 2018 23:03 (seven years ago)

i think outlier (and other post-workwear non-luxury brands) are kind of interesting partly because their customers are sort of undefined but they have this unifying aesthetic nonetheless. like "guys with non-media jobs that live in cities"? but i like their focus on process and material, i like that they are trying to engage with technology in a way that isnt just like, "this is sweater but also an app" or w/e. fwiw i spent the morning e-mailing back & forth w/a store seeing if they could get me this thermal storage hooded so

one month passes...

I've been feeling this urge lately to buy some vintage Body Glove shirts, although they may just not suit me at all.

I think this is v beautiful for example

nice

lag∞n, Tuesday, 8 January 2019 18:34 (seven years ago)

what is this brand Superdry? i see it mostly online. basic stuff, reminding me of American Apparel. it looks okay but is always really cheap which makes me wary.

GarugBand (rip van wanko), Tuesday, 15 January 2019 23:41 (seven years ago)

nice too have some cheap pieces imho

lag∞n, Tuesday, 15 January 2019 23:42 (seven years ago)

the sun never typesets on the empire

lag∞n, Tuesday, 15 January 2019 23:49 (seven years ago)

Absolutely the ugliest possible clothes. Would rather wear puppy fur and blood diamonds

plax (ico), Wednesday, 16 January 2019 00:29 (seven years ago)

There’s actually a SuperDry store in a mall around here but I’ve generally thought of it more as a eurotrash brand and I usually assume people wearing it are tourists or recent immigrants.

longtime caller, first time listener (man alive), Wednesday, 16 January 2019 00:33 (seven years ago)

well British people are European despite protestations to the contrary

( ͡☉ ͜ʖ ͡☉) (jim in vancouver), Wednesday, 16 January 2019 00:34 (seven years ago)

speaking of Britisher apparel, my local Nordstrom has a Topman boutique and I just don't get it that line. Everything seems overstyled, like defiantly anti-classic, and that is fine, it's just that the directions it tends toward seem so "off", and tacky or obnoxious. Really not unlike Chess King (for other yanks) back in the day.

GarugBand (rip van wanko), Wednesday, 16 January 2019 00:59 (seven years ago)

I totally thought superdry was japanese this entire time.

Yerac, Wednesday, 16 January 2019 00:59 (seven years ago)

ya cheap clothes thatre basics are where its at imo like a plain navy tee shirt and whatnot ammy appy uniqlo etc

lag∞n, Wednesday, 16 January 2019 01:02 (seven years ago)

if you want some wool trousers, chinos etc that fit slim topman is not bad. it is sort of a british dandy basic bitch version of hot topic for people who probably wish they were big enough twats to buy everything from tom baker instead. THAT SAID i have bought things from topman and i daresay i'll do it again

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Wednesday, 16 January 2019 01:09 (seven years ago)

lol tom baker i mean ted baker :)

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Wednesday, 16 January 2019 01:09 (seven years ago)

Yeah I always see topman at Nordstrom/ on their website as well and I find it really unappealing. FWIW Ted Baker also seems to make shirts that look assholish in a subtle way.

longtime caller, first time listener (man alive), Wednesday, 16 January 2019 01:34 (seven years ago)

I feel like topman is totally hit or miss depending on the year/who is working as designers. Most of those larger brands have a good two years and then everything is shit for three. Repeat.

Yerac, Wednesday, 16 January 2019 01:43 (seven years ago)

Has anyone bought from the amazon line, Goodthreads?

Yerac, Wednesday, 16 January 2019 01:48 (seven years ago)

a woman I went to high school with designs men's clothes for Lululemon, and I positively lust over their men's stuff. can't afford it though.

GarugBand (rip van wanko), Wednesday, 16 January 2019 01:51 (seven years ago)

ask her for discount

lag∞n, Wednesday, 16 January 2019 01:51 (seven years ago)

in my fantasy she sends me a crate of seconds, last season, overstock. I could die happy with my closet of lulu

GarugBand (rip van wanko), Wednesday, 16 January 2019 02:01 (seven years ago)

ime ppl w those jobs are pretty loose w the ol discounts............

lag∞n, Wednesday, 16 January 2019 02:03 (seven years ago)

British dandy basic bitch version of hot topic is my middle name

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Wednesday, 16 January 2019 02:04 (seven years ago)

Yeah, lululemon men's is pretty nice. My spouse was really anti the brand but we had a sublet across from one for 6 months (that store had really good sales) and he loves the stuff now. It's really good for tall people.

Yerac, Wednesday, 16 January 2019 02:04 (seven years ago)

what stuff does he like? the workout-y stuff or like the casualwear stuff?

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 16 January 2019 02:05 (seven years ago)

He has some of both, basically he would get whatever was on sale that had his size. He likes it because the sleeves and torso are always long enough while being slim fit.

Yerac, Wednesday, 16 January 2019 02:07 (seven years ago)

I guess it's more the casualwear stuff because I know he goes to work in some of it.

Yerac, Wednesday, 16 January 2019 02:08 (seven years ago)

that is casual formal is wearing a clean pair of jeans

lag∞n, Wednesday, 16 January 2019 02:12 (seven years ago)

Topman is Britpop cosplay

plax (ico), Wednesday, 16 January 2019 08:37 (seven years ago)

I don't think I've ever bought anything full-price from Topman despite it being ubiquitous on the high street, their jeans and denim is absolutely stinking

Superdry stuff is so unappealing to me in so many ways too, it seems like a brand for people who want to wear a brand without any of the reasons why you would support a brand

boxedjoy, Wednesday, 16 January 2019 09:55 (seven years ago)

I hate anything with the label of the brand displayed so things like superdry and supreme always seem gauche.

Yerac, Wednesday, 16 January 2019 13:48 (seven years ago)

agreed

GarugBand (rip van wanko), Wednesday, 16 January 2019 14:21 (seven years ago)

every item of clothing in Topman is now either "super skinny" or "muscle fit"

Number None, Wednesday, 16 January 2019 14:39 (seven years ago)

lol

lag∞n, Wednesday, 16 January 2019 17:14 (seven years ago)

is there a reason bunch of brands decided to call things with fleece "sherpa"?

https://www.jcrew.com/p/mens_category/outerwear/lightweight/sherpa-zipfront-hooded-jacket/K4296?color_name=darkest-navy

The Sherpa Jacket: A classic with an updated look + feel, made with high-pile fleece and soft Supima cotton. Also available as a half-zip pullover.

— Hill City (@hillcity) November 30, 2018

https://www.rei.com/search?q=sherpa

feel like i didn't used to see this, but maybe it's a longstanding practice somewhere.

circles, Saturday, 19 January 2019 21:03 (seven years ago)

fleece made w polyester is sherpa

the late great, Saturday, 19 January 2019 21:08 (seven years ago)

doesn't really look that updated to me, except maybe the neck and hood, but that's okay, fleece never went out in my world.

the high pile does look better than the smoother fleece tho

calumy (rip van wanko), Saturday, 19 January 2019 21:10 (seven years ago)

next time I'm climbing Mt Everest I will tell my guide that we have a word for him in the west, the same word for what cheap jackets are made of
