I actually really like the idea of getting one really good pair of jeans, maybe expensive. But I worry that at the rate I would wear them (maybe once or twice a month?) it would take something like 20 years for them to break in.

We r all gonna fade 1 day

F# A# (∞), Tuesday, 16 October 2018 01:54 (seven years ago)

i got some levi's 511 "rigid dragon" which is apparently raw but "sanforized." they're really dark, barely even blue, i love them. that's how i started googling raw denim and getting into this rabbit hole.

by the by, check this selvedge kimono

Trϵϵship, Tuesday, 16 October 2018 02:16 (seven years ago)

Aw I was really hoping for a proper full length kimono. Possibly to be dismayed by.

chinavision!, Tuesday, 16 October 2018 05:01 (seven years ago)

I really like that, its a much more like hanten than a kimono though. I've been looking for a hanten style jacket as I think they look really good.

American Fear of Pranksterism (Ed), Tuesday, 16 October 2018 05:43 (seven years ago)

most raw denim is gonna be sanforized! unsanforized is for people far more intense than me, those are the ones you have to buy big and then soak and wear soaked for a day so they shrink to fit, too much commitment for me

But I worry that at the rate I would wear them (maybe once or twice a month?) it would take something like 20 years for them to break in.

maybe, but once they start to break in they're gonna feel soooo good for the rest of yr life

would like to see the fit on those Big Johns from the rear though.

Zachary Taylor, Saturday, 27 October 2018 21:18 (seven years ago)

I'm wear Unbranded 21oz red weft jeans right now in the natural tapered fit. It's kind of an early '90s fit with too much material in the butt and thigh and a medium taper. They're a more affordable offshoot of Naked and Famous if anyone wants to try thick denim.

Zachary Taylor, Saturday, 27 October 2018 21:24 (seven years ago)

man i havent fd w raw denim in years, u know what jeans i had a while ago that i really liked were these hank jobenhavn tapered united

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Monday, 29 October 2018 23:45 (seven years ago)

are big pants back? NOT READY

the dutiful and the banned (rip van wanko), Tuesday, 30 October 2018 00:06 (seven years ago)

my bod is ready, my mind is not

the dutiful and the banned (rip van wanko), Tuesday, 30 October 2018 00:07 (seven years ago)

big pants been back for awhile man! in london last year it seemed your were nothing, worse than scum, if you were a woman who didn't own a pair of black wide-legged capris

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 30 October 2018 00:10 (seven years ago)

the pants are fine if you're going for a trad thing. it's hard to tell from that angle if the jacket could be shaped a little more, but my guess is it's too boxy.

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 30 October 2018 00:49 (seven years ago)

Whether they’re back or not, one thing i will say about big pants is that i always preferred slightly baggier pants, as opposed to the tight ones so many people wear. many brands seem to only offer this fit though

I could never even fit my calves into any of them

F# A# (∞), Tuesday, 30 October 2018 00:58 (seven years ago)

ya i cld never wear skinny jeans i have huge legs and ass thats why i like taper its kinda like skinny but for a huge legs and ass lifestyle

lag∞n, Tuesday, 30 October 2018 01:05 (seven years ago)

big ankle pants been coming back steadily for years, maybe a couple years til the peak in my estimation

flopson, Tuesday, 30 October 2018 01:41 (seven years ago)

i dont think theyll be ubiquitous any time soon, more of a novelty

lag∞n, Tuesday, 30 October 2018 01:42 (seven years ago)

fell the greater trend is more just toward normal size/type pants for men at least

lag∞n, Tuesday, 30 October 2018 01:44 (seven years ago)

a 501 style jean if u will and so forth

lag∞n, Tuesday, 30 October 2018 01:44 (seven years ago)

an more 80s than 90s silhouette

lag∞n, Tuesday, 30 October 2018 01:45 (seven years ago)

I just bought some workout pants at Costco and they’re in that slim jogger pant style and they look fucking hilarious on my big ass legs. Fine for the gym I guess.

Fedora Dostoyevsky (man alive), Tuesday, 30 October 2018 01:47 (seven years ago)

I recently sold a haul of jeans to Buffalo Exchange and accidentally included my favorite jeans, a pair of 501s that were absolutely perfectly norm/dadcore to the last detail. i'm sick. i have looked around trying to replace them to no avail

the dutiful and the banned (rip van wanko), Tuesday, 30 October 2018 01:55 (seven years ago)

big ankle pants have to be shaped so perfectly up the leg to actually look good; i doubt they hit the mainstream for that reason

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 30 October 2018 02:09 (seven years ago)

dang wanko that sucks man bummer

lag∞n, Tuesday, 30 October 2018 05:04 (seven years ago)

the wash! it was a light blue acid wash, real subtle, conservative o.g. 90s not the garish/kitschy a.w. u see today, and I can't find them anywhere! not even on the site.

the dutiful and the banned (rip van wanko), Tuesday, 30 October 2018 05:55 (seven years ago)

Martine rose ss13 is the origin of the contemporary drift to wide legged trousers. She is now menswear consultant at Balenciaga. I could draw a flowchart

plax (ico), Monday, 5 November 2018 15:02 (seven years ago)

Is it just me or have down parkas gone way up in price? A year ago I remember feeling like "damn, I can't find a nice one for less than $250." Now it seems like the price point is $400.

I recently bought one off Lands End with a 50% off code for $150, but it turns out the fit is huge and I'm probably returning it.

Fedora Dostoyevsky (man alive), Monday, 5 November 2018 15:21 (seven years ago)

same re: Land's End, I bought a rainproof coat at deep discount and I could use it as a car cover

harm'n'killabro (rip van wanko), Monday, 5 November 2018 15:37 (seven years ago)

Considering exchanging for a small and I have never worn ANYTHING in a small. But the shoulders were too big and the sleeves were too long, so it could work.

Fedora Dostoyevsky (man alive), Monday, 5 November 2018 15:41 (seven years ago)

what's the best place to buy decent labels second-hand, online? i think i've seen a place mentioned a few time here that's not poshmark or tradesy or anything else i'm familiar with, but can't find it

rip van wanko, Tuesday, 6 November 2018 03:33 (seven years ago)

ebay

the late great, Tuesday, 6 November 2018 05:32 (seven years ago)

i’m assuming you’re thinking of something else but i swear by ebay + patience

depending on what your definition of “decent label” is maybe you’re thinking of grailed? i don’t
really like that site personally but know people that swear by it

the late great, Tuesday, 6 November 2018 05:38 (seven years ago)

talking about grailed?

XxxxxxxXxxxxxxxxXxxxx (dylannn), Tuesday, 6 November 2018 05:50 (seven years ago)

yeah, not to hate on it or anything but not my thing

the late great, Tuesday, 6 November 2018 05:53 (seven years ago)

sorry, it was an xpost.

ive only sold a few things on it that would have sold for nothing here but went for a decent price on there and it took forever with i think everyone just waiting for price drops, easier to pick up most stuff offline.

XxxxxxxXxxxxxxxxXxxxx (dylannn), Tuesday, 6 November 2018 08:09 (seven years ago)

yes grailed was what I was trying to remember
