the baracutas do look nice, but yeah, so expensive. i got a pretty good nylon harrington jacket from jcrew factory a couple of years ago for like 1/4 as much.

i got my Harrington jacket about 10 years ago from a "mod store" off brick lane, no label, i think it was £20. p sure i win this one

I had a blue barracuta that I got pretty cheap at a vintage store in jersey. Loved it, wish I knew what happened to it.

or harrington or whatever you call it, same as the ones in the photos but a nice medium blue

harrington = style

baracuta = the brand that claims to have invented the style

they did invent it

the Harrington name came later and is an Americanism

I figured it got some interest as it's very similar to the MA-1 flight jackets that were popular in the US later

like it's the more sports casual version of a flight jacket

in any case I had an actual barracuta brand harrington. It's the best cut of jacket for me and I always look for jackets that cut/length.

good question! something was setting off my "grandpa wore this" sense with the jacket and he had a lot of flightwear stuff (did a lot of airplane work and was a WW2 co-pilot), so I was assuming that was the one I was thinking of

there are similarities between ma-1 (sometimes called a puffer jacket) and harrington but i think the "puffiness" (for lack of a better word) of the ma-1 gives it a very different silhouette.

i have actually grown to like birkenstocks a lot and i believe i have posted about my love for bostons in taupe suede

would love to go full rugged casual someday and pair some birkenstock arizonas with some fancy anonymous-ism mix socks but i don't have nice socks in my budget
