i just got a baracuta G9. i've come to think that (for fairly obvious reasons) the brits really figured out jackets in a way that no other cultures have.

nice! i’ve had mine for literally 10 years now. navy, goes with everything. considering a British racing green one but my god they’re even spendier now (since being acquired by wp lavori) than they were when i got mine

yeah it wasn't cheap. i use travel to justify a lot of purchases like this, i'm doing 10 days in japan next month and want to bring one really kickass, versatile jacket. there was a brief sale on some lesser colors that i considered but i was set on black and found a decent price on END.

I ended up donating my G9 (tan). it always felt a bit tryhard, I loved it as an idea but it didn't really fit with anything else. It's strange that I feel better wearing the cozy blue windbreaker that I got for enlisting (literally, of all the crap I dug out of my old GI duffel, THIS is the piece I decide to wear again?!?) than the Baracuta. I could have probably put it up for sale and made some money back but I felt lame for not being able to rock it properly, I guess.

I think I just don't like things that are generally accepted as cool.

the baracutas do look nice, but yeah, so expensive. i got a pretty good nylon harrington jacket from jcrew factory a couple of years ago for like 1/4 as much.

i got my Harrington jacket about 10 years ago from a "mod store" off brick lane, no label, i think it was £20. p sure i win this one

I had a blue barracuta that I got pretty cheap at a vintage store in jersey. Loved it, wish I knew what happened to it.

baracuta = the brand that claims to have invented the style

they did invent it

the Harrington name came later and is an Americanism

I figured it got some interest as it's very similar to the MA-1 flight jackets that were popular in the US later
