lag∞n, Wednesday, 7 February 2018 20:45 (eight years ago)

me too, i wear my sports jacket while i do it, and i also wear a button down collar so my collar doesn't flap about in the excitement

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Wednesday, 7 February 2018 20:46 (eight years ago)

lag∞n, Wednesday, 7 February 2018 20:47 (eight years ago)

Odd jacket: A lounge jacket that is not part of a suit. A sports coat is a type of odd jacket, but if the jacket does not have sporting features it is merely an “odd jacket” or a “jacket“.

lag∞n, Wednesday, 7 February 2018 21:10 (eight years ago)

Sports coat: A lounge jacket with sporting features—such as hacking pockets, bellows pockets, deep vents, a throat latch or pleated and belted backs—in a coarse cloth. Also called a sports jacket, a sport coat or a sport jacket. Americans will use any one of these terms to specify any odd jacket.

lag∞n, Wednesday, 7 February 2018 21:11 (eight years ago)

the things brits think are sports are funny

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 14 February 2018 13:02 (eight years ago)

"do you see now what a suit with jeans is" --ezra klein

lag∞n, Sunday, 4 March 2018 00:44 (eight years ago)

I’m just asking for a little more precision in the nomenclature here

El Tomboto, Sunday, 4 March 2018 00:48 (eight years ago)

its perfect actually

lag∞n, Sunday, 4 March 2018 00:48 (eight years ago)

a picture of ezra klein is worth a thousand words

Clay, Sunday, 4 March 2018 00:54 (eight years ago)

one thousand takes even

lag∞n, Sunday, 4 March 2018 00:55 (eight years ago)

i just got a baracuta G9. i've come to think that (for fairly obvious reasons) the brits really figured out jackets in a way that no other cultures have.

call all destroyer, Sunday, 4 March 2018 02:03 (eight years ago)

nice! i’ve had mine for literally 10 years now. navy, goes with everything. considering a British racing green one but my god they’re even spendier now (since being acquired by wp lavori) than they were when i got mine

the late great, Sunday, 4 March 2018 02:08 (eight years ago)

the other harrington jacket i covet is a grenfell

the late great, Sunday, 4 March 2018 02:10 (eight years ago)

classic coat

lag∞n, Sunday, 4 March 2018 02:11 (eight years ago)

the late great, Sunday, 4 March 2018 02:11 (eight years ago)

yeah it wasn't cheap. i use travel to justify a lot of purchases like this, i'm doing 10 days in japan next month and want to bring one really kickass, versatile jacket. there was a brief sale on some lesser colors that i considered but i was set on black and found a decent price on END.

call all destroyer, Sunday, 4 March 2018 02:13 (eight years ago)

ooh i hadn't heard of grenfell, those are fantastic

call all destroyer, Sunday, 4 March 2018 02:14 (eight years ago)

I've heard of Grenfell, sadly.

Heavy Messages (jed_), Sunday, 4 March 2018 02:17 (eight years ago)

haha i don’t travel internationally at all, and maybe only once a year outside of california, which is how i justify the expenditure!

the late great, Sunday, 4 March 2018 02:20 (eight years ago)

lol whatever works to justify it is how i break it down

call all destroyer, Sunday, 4 March 2018 02:23 (eight years ago)

I ended up donating my G9 (tan). it always felt a bit tryhard, I loved it as an idea but it didn't really fit with anything else. It's strange that I feel better wearing the cozy blue windbreaker that I got for enlisting (literally, of all the crap I dug out of my old GI duffel, THIS is the piece I decide to wear again?!?) than the Baracuta. I could have probably put it up for sale and made some money back but I felt lame for not being able to rock it properly, I guess.

I think I just don't like things that are generally accepted as cool.

El Tomboto, Sunday, 4 March 2018 03:28 (eight years ago)

whats G9 tan?

Heavy Messages (jed_), Sunday, 4 March 2018 03:37 (eight years ago)

actually I'm going to go ahead and use those shots of james bond and kal-el there as my arguments for why even a good looking dude like me can't always pull off a classic

El Tomboto, Sunday, 4 March 2018 03:50 (eight years ago)

Those look like members only jackets

F# A# (∞), Sunday, 4 March 2018 04:00 (eight years ago)

oh shit you went there

El Tomboto, Sunday, 4 March 2018 04:04 (eight years ago)

lol how is that a bad thing

call all destroyer, Sunday, 4 March 2018 04:05 (eight years ago)

here is an excellent rundown on baracuta jackets being worn by extremely famous people

https://www.masonandsons.com/blogs/intelligence/99483014-baracuta-g9-the-history-of-the-harrington

El Tomboto, Sunday, 4 March 2018 04:06 (eight years ago)

Ya not a bad thing

The captions in that link are hilarious btw

F# A# (∞), Sunday, 4 March 2018 04:35 (eight years ago)

don’t be jealous cause you’re not a member of the club

the late great, Sunday, 4 March 2018 05:01 (eight years ago)

the baracutas do look nice, but yeah, so expensive. i got a pretty good nylon harrington jacket from jcrew factory a couple of years ago for like 1/4 as much.
