The Billy Joel ILM thread has lead me down a path of Easy Money clips. And here's the origin of high-end streetwear.

whywhywhywhywhy do the madewell vnecks have a POCKET? I hate a pocket on a T!

llbean and lands end are definitely known for boxy, but I have not taken a look in years; maybe things have changed.

I am now informed the answer to your original question is Everlane.

El Tomboto, Saturday, 28 October 2017 22:11 (eight years ago)

I just received an Everlane V-neck T order! I ordered a women's large b/c tall+boobs; I don't love the fit, may try again in medium.

Meanwhile, I feel like I was channeling a Tbot today when I made a hopeful V-neck long sleeve T order from LANDS END.

damn

does anyone else forget about trousers? i'm not trying to recall some fever dream you had i just genuinely rarely think about what's on my legs. trousers are an afterthought for me. i'm wearing trousers that have lost two fly buttons and are washed out to fuck and i'm like, nbd.

Susan Stranglehands (jed_), Sunday, 29 October 2017 02:16 (eight years ago)

sounds like a decent look tbh

chinavision!, Monday, 30 October 2017 18:08 (eight years ago)

I got a couple of pairs of these. The styling on the website is bizarre. Colour and fit both wrong. They are regular pleated chinos with slightly tapered leg. I like em. Also $15.

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Monday, 30 October 2017 20:24 (eight years ago)

those are slightly weird in a good way

IF (Terrorist) Yes, Explain (man alive), Monday, 30 October 2017 21:16 (eight years ago)

those look nice... mostly they look really comfortable to me

chinavision!, Monday, 30 October 2017 21:19 (eight years ago)

they are not quite as weird as they look in the photo of the tan pair (more tapered leg), but they are a little fashion. they are very comfy though it's true.

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Monday, 30 October 2017 22:37 (eight years ago)

i wear carhartt trousers, they're amazing

the late great, Monday, 30 October 2017 22:53 (eight years ago)

I can sort of vouch for those but they're not my style anymore (says man who has three pairs of those llbean fatigue pants he posted upthread, and like a million levis 527s)

mostly I don't like the high waisted fit and the inevitable wear-and-tear on the back of the hem

El Tomboto, Tuesday, 31 October 2017 03:14 (eight years ago)

i'm transitioning to wide leg

flopson, Tuesday, 31 October 2017 03:18 (eight years ago)

I feel juvenile when I wear skinny jeans these days.

Treeship, Tuesday, 31 October 2017 03:23 (eight years ago)

I guess they’re not even on trend in 2017. I’m not sure I totally understand or dig what’s cool now.

Treeship, Tuesday, 31 October 2017 03:26 (eight years ago)

i've been on straight leg for a few years now; skinny is fucked

flopson, Tuesday, 31 October 2017 03:28 (eight years ago)

tried some on recently and was LOLing at memories of flopping around like a worm trying to get them on or off

flopson, Tuesday, 31 October 2017 03:30 (eight years ago)

Slim is where I come down now for most of my pants. Without the slight taper pants seem shapeless to me.

Treeship, Tuesday, 31 October 2017 03:31 (eight years ago)

http://www.lordandtaylor.com/main/ProductDetail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524442368081

Got these and really like them. They are called “straight” but still really tapered. Not skin-tight in the thigh and they stay up unlike most pants I have. For jeans my favorites are all still 511s but the ones with spandex get all stretched out and won’t stay up. I want ones that are just denim no stretch.

Treeship, Tuesday, 31 October 2017 03:36 (eight years ago)

I like the high-waisted fit! I only wear them to work - with a white shirt or blue oxford button down, always a tie and usually a coaches jacket, chore coat or workwear shirt jacket over the top (always navy). sometimes when it gets really cold a sweater or cardigan (navy) and a technical jacket over that. i like to think it puts me comfortably between old school lab science teacher and 90s “grand royal”-era street / skater vibe

the late great, Tuesday, 31 October 2017 03:43 (eight years ago)

i could never really hang w/ the skinny fit

marcos, Tuesday, 31 October 2017 13:55 (eight years ago)

closest I get is a pair of pants that is an inch too small in the waist but fits relatively OK there, just makes putting things in my pockets tricky

mh, Tuesday, 31 October 2017 14:37 (eight years ago)

i got a seriously BADASS pair of raw 501s last week. i'm fucking smooth

brimstead, Tuesday, 31 October 2017 14:59 (eight years ago)

actually came here to ask about jeans. rebelled against skinny for years and only really got the hang of them a few years ago. now looks like they're on their way out. kind of interested in what sort of fit will work best now. big baggy late-90s jeans, i'm guessing aren't really a thing, but maybe wider-legged, high waist, slightly cropped jeans are in? where do you even start? problem with jeans (like shirts) is that you can't really tell how they'll fit till you try them on

Shat Parp (dog latin), Wednesday, 1 November 2017 16:45 (eight years ago)

yeah so just try on different stuff until you find something you like?

the late great, Wednesday, 1 November 2017 16:46 (eight years ago)

https://www.ourlegacy.se/shop/jeans/second-cut-clean-light-vintage

this is my current style of jeans. feels nice to get away from slim fitting and dark blue/black jeans (though mine are currently ripped and i need to take them to get fixed and am wearing black slim cut jeans again blah)

-_- (jim in vancouver), Wednesday, 1 November 2017 16:49 (eight years ago)

i wear slim to skinny jeans - don't really think well-fitting jeans are on the way out. i'm fairly short and have skinny legs, anything baggy or non-slim looks ridiculous.

i think jeans/trousers that fit fairly close won't go away, even if huge baggy trousers or wide legs are a catwalk thing.

i'm interested in fashion trends but not to the point that i'll wear a style of trouser i know looks fucking dumb on me.

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Wednesday, 1 November 2017 16:50 (eight years ago)

i'm sorry, i can't hear you over the wall of cool generated by these wide-leg capri trousers i'm wearing

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Wednesday, 1 November 2017 16:59 (eight years ago)

i wear 505s these days.. dgaf. 1990s comfort

brimstead, Wednesday, 1 November 2017 17:00 (eight years ago)

i keep some slim jeans handy for peacockin etc tho

brimstead, Wednesday, 1 November 2017 17:01 (eight years ago)

marcos, Wednesday, 1 November 2017 17:29 (eight years ago)

i found a few pairs of faded black 501s that i am really digging

marcos, Wednesday, 1 November 2017 17:30 (eight years ago)

also yea you don't have to go to baggy or wide-legged if you are tired of a skinny fit. just go w/ a regular straight fit like a 501, they feel nice and tidy without being too tight or too loose

marcos, Wednesday, 1 November 2017 17:31 (eight years ago)

i've been wearing tapered leg so long that 501s feel like bell bottoms to me. i'm hoping boot season will help change that

scoff walker (diamonddave85), Wednesday, 1 November 2017 18:25 (eight years ago)

can’t wait for boot cut revival

marcos, Friday, 17 November 2017 21:26 (eight years ago)

marcos, Friday, 17 November 2017 21:27 (eight years ago)

(° . ° )― (Lamp), Friday, 17 November 2017 21:28 (eight years ago)

yeah i think one or two pieces would do me

the late great, Friday, 17 November 2017 21:29 (eight years ago)

i would also quite like to have one (1) jacket in a serape print

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/f/f2/Josh_Dibb_-_Deakin_-_2009.jpg

and i was briefly considering a "drug rug" baja poncho ... but in the end, decided a step too far

the late great, Friday, 17 November 2017 21:35 (eight years ago)

i love that stussy fleece so much. hoping it doesn't sell out before i get paid.
