It's haircut time. Help me choose between option 1: bob and option 2: short and sassy.

Am off work today and enjoyed Ellen's hair! It was very spiky and fresh.

my hair, she is too long, and I am going to a wedding tomorrow so I wouldn't mind stopping on my way home for a cut... but I can't go for the simple chin-length bob because the bride's hair is like that :(

Short and sassy: I guess I'm talking a pixie that could also be spiky at times and possibly a lighter hue.

Virginia Plain, Friday, 8 May 2009 21:16 (seventeen years ago)

ergh I am sorry that this is a massive picture but this is what I ended up doing! Is it cute enough that I can stave off the soccer mom label?

nine months pass...

thinking about ordering mass quantities of devabrown low-poo online before it disappears forever...

tehresa, Monday, 15 February 2010 22:44 (sixteen years ago)

wondering if i should have mine cut to just below chin-length again, or keep letting it grow out & ask hairdresser to just cut long layers. not sure if the longer hair makes me look older or not!

In addition to my make-up, I also suddenly hate my hair. Cut time. Strongest candidate is somewhere in between http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e66/LimitedLiabilityGirl/2006-creative-mid-length.jpg and http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e66/LimitedLiabilityGirl/bob-hairstyles3.jpg.

I love love love an angled bob!

quincie, Wednesday, 17 March 2010 14:21 (sixteen years ago)

Me too! I have a strong cowlick above my right temple so bangs have never been a good option; I need serious weight on those hairs to control them but less weight everywhere else, for lift. The bob is my natural territory, even if I have been visiting side-parted long hair for a few years.

you're lucky you have so much hair -- you could do anything with it. might as well bob for summer!

any tips on managing really fine hair? any recs on products?

fuck in rainbows, ☔ (dyao), Monday, 12 April 2010 03:34 (sixteen years ago)

John Frieda Frizz-Ease stuff.

ljubljana, Monday, 12 April 2010 03:37 (sixteen years ago)

my hair is opposite of fine so i have no good ideas. but depends on how you want it to look? i know many people with fine hair - some of them use 'beach hair' type products (incl salt in water in spray bottle) and some use anti-frizz and hair dryer.

i haven't had my hair cut in over 3 months. so ridic that a hairdresser friend of mine (not my best-friend hairdresser, who moved awaaaaay) emailed me asking, sweetly, when i'd like to book an appointment. lol, it's time.

no! you look awesome as a brunette!

just1n3, Thursday, 15 April 2010 05:00 (sixteen years ago)

pros: not constantly trying to tame brassiness
kind of sick of blondes
hair extensions would look bitchin

cons: v v hard to go back if i change my mind after the fact
im older now and darker hair highlights everything wrong with yr skin and theres plenty of that

no more springs no more summers no more falls (sunny successor), Saturday, 17 April 2010 18:46 (sixteen years ago)

well i bought some dark brown hair dye but i dont think i can go through with it until im really angry about something.

my hair is sooo flat since i moved :(

i think i am growing out bangs.

tehresa, Wednesday, 5 May 2010 03:39 (sixteen years ago)

OMG KISS BLONDE GOODBYE at least for now. Wow!

Still no budget for fancy haircuts, so I'm putting mine up in a cinnamon-roll bun every day. It looks fine, but I'm sick of it. And the more annoyed I get, the shorter it's going to be..........

wasting time and money trying to change the weather (Laurel), Wednesday, 5 May 2010 13:14 (sixteen years ago)

My hair is finally approaching "normal" length again after my crop last summer. Am sorta tempted to let it keep growing and see what I'd look like with long hair since I haven't had it since . . . high school? I think it would be fun but I doubt I'll have the patience.

Aqua Backrat (ENBB), Wednesday, 5 May 2010 14:30 (sixteen years ago)

but Laurel does it SMELL like cinnamon because that would rule

no more springs no more summers no more falls (sunny successor), Wednesday, 5 May 2010 15:38 (sixteen years ago)

You can't really smell the cinnamon over the sodium lauryl sulfate.

I am getting a haircut next week!

tokyo rosemary, Saturday, 15 May 2010 03:44 (sixteen years ago)

I don't have bangs any more for the first time since I was...six months old, maybe?

Christine Green Leafy Dragon Indigo, Saturday, 15 May 2010 12:14 (sixteen years ago)

long-locked ladies, how do you prevent damage? i've never had hair this long so i never thought about it, but my hair is looking very sad at the ends now. don't want to cut, tho!

tehresa, Sunday, 16 May 2010 00:14 (sixteen years ago)

Hmm. I seem to be immune to split ends, but I do get breakage, prob from putting it up so much with pins and elastics. One tip is to put shampoo only on your scalp, not wash the long parts. Then flip upside-down, and start conditioning from the ends, they need it more. Work your way up the hairs but don't condition the roots. Then rinse in cooler water, still leaned over. Pin it up while you wash the rest of you, so you don't get soap on the hair and don't rinse out all the conditioner.

I don't know anything about after-shower products, I don't normally use them. Probably should learn about smoothing serums or whatever.

wasting time and money trying to change the weather (Laurel), Sunday, 16 May 2010 00:31 (sixteen years ago)

i think the big issue is blow-drying/styling, but i can't not style, because my hair looks HORRIBLE w/out a blow dryer. and if i use shampoo/conditioner that's too moisturizing, i start feeling like my hair is too greasy/flat. sigh.

tehresa, Sunday, 16 May 2010 00:50 (sixteen years ago)

Ohh, I haven't blow-dried regularly in many many years. About to cut most of hair off, though -- would have gone today but F discouraged me from trying his (cheap) barber -- I would have risked it for a $25 bob versus the $85 it will be elsewhere. Then I will also have styling woes.

wasting time and money trying to change the weather (Laurel), Sunday, 16 May 2010 00:58 (sixteen years ago)

This haircut is very disappointing.

tokyo rosemary, Thursday, 20 May 2010 03:37 (sixteen years ago)

I even brought a picture of myself! Next time I am asking for more layers and no blow drying straight.

tokyo rosemary, Thursday, 20 May 2010 03:38 (sixteen years ago)

Aw. Is it something you can work with? Mine usually gets cut ok but then they spend ages sleeking it down when I just go home and spend ages sticking it out.

Not the real Village People, Thursday, 20 May 2010 04:19 (sixteen years ago)

I washed it this morning & then styled it the way I usually do, and it's much better. I still think I want it a little more layered though.

tokyo rosemary, Thursday, 20 May 2010 19:32 (sixteen years ago)

two months pass...

Getting mine cut tomorrow. After having really short hair for the better portion of the last year, I'm sort of digging the length atm. I normally go for my old standby which is an angled bob but am considering growing it a little for the first time since HS. What do you guys think of the pics below? I like both but think I like the one with long bangs best. Any other ideas?

i like the hair in the 2nd pic much better.

JuliaA, Thursday, 5 August 2010 23:53 (fifteen years ago)

I like the first one! But I loved your hair super short, e!

Btw I finally found a tube of schwarzkopf bonacure sealed ends styling stuff and omg my hair is like 100x happier now :)

tehresa, Thursday, 5 August 2010 23:59 (fifteen years ago)

Ah! 1-1.

I guess at this point the question is whether to cut bangs like in the first pic or not because I still have a way to go length wise before anything else becomes an issue. I liked my hair short too T but I'm just more comfortable with it a little longer and the upkeep for really short hair is sort of a pain.

o sh!t a ˁ˚ᴥ˚ˀ (ENBB), Friday, 6 August 2010 00:19 (fifteen years ago)

i like the first one better because it's a little more...stylish? the second one looks like standard working ladycut. it's not bad, nothing wrong with standard professional ladycut, it's just not as interesting.

really though they're not that different.

i need a haircut too and i'm wondering if i should get plugs or a wig or extensions or something because (sob) thinning.
