call all destroyer, Friday, 26 May 2017 01:18 (nine years ago)

didn't think to look in western wear stores, will check some out

“Yeah. Huh, thanks.” (los blue jeans), Friday, 26 May 2017 02:46 (nine years ago)

this seems like something that ought to exist and you guys would know about:

is there a good place to buy lots of nice socks on line for cheap?

flopson, Saturday, 27 May 2017 21:13 (nine years ago)

Happy Socks, although I think I got my last lot through the iconic or asos or some such.

American Fear of Pranksterism (Ed), Saturday, 27 May 2017 22:02 (nine years ago)

hm these seem expensive

flopson, Saturday, 27 May 2017 22:28 (nine years ago)

uniqlo socks are reasonable

plax (ico), Saturday, 27 May 2017 22:33 (nine years ago)

word of warning: uniqlo are one size and run a bit big on me (uk size 9)

Number None, Saturday, 27 May 2017 22:36 (nine years ago)

I've been looking at this: https://www.americantrench.com/collections/socks/products/supima-cotton-dress-rib-socks

but haven't pulled the trigger

I do uniqlo all the time, but their socks are just a bit shorter than I'd like, and they shrink too much in the wash.

chinavision!, Saturday, 27 May 2017 22:50 (nine years ago)

still on the pricey side, though a little cheaper than happy socks if you do the 7-pack.

chinavision!, Saturday, 27 May 2017 22:50 (nine years ago)

uniqlo socks shrink BIGTIME

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Saturday, 27 May 2017 22:51 (nine years ago)

happy socks are the best, get them at Nordstrom Rack or Century 21 for like $5-6.

Uniqlo socks are also the best.

uniqlo socks are perfect and are my favorite for the first couple times I wear them

chinavision!, Sunday, 28 May 2017 00:05 (nine years ago)

i have never noticed shrinkage tbh!

he not like the banana (Stevie D(eux)), Sunday, 28 May 2017 00:20 (nine years ago)

idk socks just seem too expensive

flopson, Sunday, 28 May 2017 00:20 (nine years ago)

so cheap at the 'qlo

he not like the banana (Stevie D(eux)), Sunday, 28 May 2017 00:21 (nine years ago)

also i think they're the only underwear i like to buy anymore bcz they are inexpensive, comfortable, and durable, and CUTE on top of all of that!!!!

he not like the banana (Stevie D(eux)), Sunday, 28 May 2017 00:21 (nine years ago)

if I wash them a few times I run the risk of showing skin when I sit down, which is the worst look of all imo

chinavision!, Sunday, 28 May 2017 00:40 (nine years ago)

How short are your trouser legs?

American Fear of Pranksterism (Ed), Sunday, 28 May 2017 00:55 (nine years ago)

i cosign this

call all destroyer, Sunday, 28 May 2017 02:21 (nine years ago)

idk if you need actual dress socks, goldtoe makes a decent one, at least the last time I bought them

mh, Sunday, 28 May 2017 02:28 (nine years ago)

pants meet the shoes with either no break, half break, or full break.

with any of those, potential problems with uniqlo socks. need over the calf.

chinavision!, Sunday, 28 May 2017 06:31 (nine years ago)

never more than full break though fyi

chinavision!, Sunday, 28 May 2017 06:31 (nine years ago)

picked up zegna cashmere jacket today, along with made in italy rl polo suit, and a nice tie and polo shorts.

so I'm on the shorts train. wearing them now and really feeling nice

chinavision!, Sunday, 28 May 2017 06:32 (nine years ago)

what is more than full break, like the sock somehow shows part of the foot the shoe covers through some sort of shoe-obscuring tech

mh, Sunday, 28 May 2017 06:34 (nine years ago)

i mean, i think uniqlo socks do feel a little thin, i'd like to buy better quality black socks at some stage but in as a budget option i think they're pretty good. I also sometimes eye the socks at muji but haven't bought them. I tend to be pretty rigidly monotheist with these sort of purchases, so t shirts and socks are all uniqlo, underpants are all m&s, etc.

plax (ico), Sunday, 28 May 2017 09:35 (nine years ago)

Are you guys ready for this?

I get almost all my socks from Lands End.

El Tomboto, Sunday, 28 May 2017 12:34 (nine years ago)

Winter socks are a different story though

El Tomboto, Sunday, 28 May 2017 12:34 (nine years ago)

sorry full break just means how long the pants are... if they're long enough to sort of fully meet the shoe and kind of produce a deep wrinkle that's a full break. if they just meet the shoe exactly that's no break. half is... in between.

just saying that with anything in that spectrum, I need somewhat longish socks when I sit, because the hem of the pants rises up quite a bit. it's why I was looking at those over the calf socks. haven't bought them though.

chinavision!, Sunday, 28 May 2017 14:08 (nine years ago)

lands end socks look pretty decent!

maybe ill just take a trip to toronto and stock up on 'qlo socks, it's true their cheap... was hoping for some dirt cheap online bulk stuff but alas the sock cartel wins the day

flopson, Sunday, 28 May 2017 15:26 (nine years ago)

does the 'qlo not do online orders in canada

mh, Sunday, 28 May 2017 15:54 (nine years ago)

and I'll die if I want to

Choco Blavatsky (seandalai), Sunday, 28 May 2017 19:25 (nine years ago)

sry if we've discussed this a thousand times but does anyone have a preferred brand of chino? The criteria are:

- slimmer cut
- can be obtained for <$50

I have enjoyed Uniqlo but the Express "slim cut" Finn didn't feel very slim to me.

he not like the banana (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 1 June 2017 12:43 (nine years ago)

benetton benetton benetton

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Thursday, 1 June 2017 12:56 (nine years ago)

find it almost impossible to find nice non-denim trousers, besides sweatpants.

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Thursday, 1 June 2017 13:03 (nine years ago)

Just ordered some t-shirts online. The downside of losing a stone since winter is that I'm no longer sure whether I'm medium or large any more (it seems arbitrary from brand to brand). Ended up having to take back the last bunch I bought because they felt tent-like, so I'm having to order everything twice and send some back *humblebrag*

Shat Parp (dog latin), Thursday, 1 June 2017 13:05 (nine years ago)

it's the classic problem. the more I order clothes online the more I hate it

ogmor, Thursday, 1 June 2017 13:18 (nine years ago)

I know these are regular fit, but for uniqlo chinos, I think the "vintage" ones have a nicer feel and are more durable: https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/men-vintage-regular-fit-chino-flat-front-pants-172738.html?dwvar_172738_color=COL68#start=19&cgid=men-pants-and-chinos

chinavision!, Thursday, 1 June 2017 13:32 (nine years ago)

Levi 511/513 are available in casual non-denim fabrics fwiw

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Thursday, 1 June 2017 20:58 (nine years ago)

v much a 50/50 hit rate with ordering clothes online, which means unless i've actually been to a shop and tried on the brand, made note of sizes, i don't do it any more.

did buy some meermin dark brown suede shoes, which i love and are great... except they're ever so slightly too small. relying on them relaxing a bit, but even then they'll probably still be on the tighter end of "glove-like".

Fizzles, Friday, 2 June 2017 05:41 (nine years ago)

going on summer holiday in a month. my new girly took one look at my brown leather sandals and said I should NOT bring them. I think they're alright really, I mean what else are you supposed to wear in hot countries when you're at the beach? surely flip-flops/thongs/Havaianas are infinitely worse non?

Shat Parp (dog latin), Tuesday, 6 June 2017 19:33 (nine years ago)

no shame in a cheap flipflop

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 6 June 2017 19:45 (nine years ago)

in your position i would literally wait until i was on holiday and buy whatever cheap-ass flipflop is available from a shop near the beach for like 7.50

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 6 June 2017 19:47 (nine years ago)

Adidas Adilette, prob about 15 quid at a sports shop in the airport. Indestructible and nice colour schemes

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 6 June 2017 19:57 (nine years ago)

no those are bad just wear flip flops

mh, Wednesday, 7 June 2017 03:48 (nine years ago)

Spending on flip flops for the beach is absurd. Keep the cork & leather shit for warm weekends at home.
