missed you btw, did you take a break for a while?

marcos, Wednesday, 26 April 2017 14:37 (nine years ago)

hi marcos :D

yes i took an extended social media break to preserve my sanity

clouds, Thursday, 27 April 2017 04:25 (nine years ago)

funny, the last $$ fashion item i bought was a denim jacket because for some reason i decided i really needed to get one this year (i haven't owned a denim jacket maybe ever) - it's apc, super bleached out so that it's almost white

comey did deflategate (daria-g), Friday, 28 April 2017 02:26 (nine years ago)

two weeks pass...

Summer's round the corner. Finding it hard to stump up the enthusiasm to buy shorts and summer clothes in general

Shat Parp (dog latin), Friday, 12 May 2017 13:18 (nine years ago)

yea i need a new pair of shorts. ive had these same pair of patagonia canvas shorts for like 10 years and they are okay for a kind of hippie dippie dad style but idk i live in a city and want something a little more fresh. i did get some nice garment-dyed t-shirts that i like a lot for this summer

marcos, Friday, 12 May 2017 13:58 (nine years ago)

I'm trying to keep an eye out for decent t-shirts. As I said upthread, they can be tricky to get hold of if you want exactly the right kind of look and fit, and everyone has a preference on sleeve length and tightness etc. I generally like to wear an outer layer over a t-shirt, like a shirt or jacket, but when it's really warm this isn't an option, so it's even harder. It seems there's a big trend towards floral patterns and Hawaiian shirts at the moment, which I'm just not interested in

Shat Parp (dog latin), Friday, 12 May 2017 14:22 (nine years ago)

im p picky w my tshirts

and found the garment dyed pocket jcrew ones to be v nice

i bought a bunch with pockets and *not* the ones from their factory site (those have a weird cut/size to them) are the ones i prefer

p sure it was this one: https://www.jcrew.com/p/mens_category/polostees/shortsleeve/garmentdyed-tshirt/C2722

the tuscan olive one is the one that made me fall in love w these

my only issue is i have big shoulders and long arms, so they feel a little shorter, but this is a problem i have with almost every single tshirt and shirt

i n f i n i t y (∞), Friday, 12 May 2017 17:31 (nine years ago)

ha those were the garment-dyed ones i bought, i like the black ones a lot

marcos, Friday, 12 May 2017 17:37 (nine years ago)

i bought a bunch from that site and their factory site

the factory ones have some weird dodgy quality to them

i n f i n i t y (∞), Friday, 12 May 2017 17:39 (nine years ago)

i didn't notice a difference between the factory and the regular site except color selections

marcos, Friday, 12 May 2017 17:39 (nine years ago)

(and price obv)

marcos, Friday, 12 May 2017 17:39 (nine years ago)

dog latin, you're in luck! Now's your chance to get with the hot new male romper craze.

I was theoretically okay with men's short sleeved blazers becoming a thing, but that is too far, too soon

global warming will probably make it a thing though

your cognitive privilege (El Tomboto), Tuesday, 16 May 2017 02:23 (nine years ago)

shorts and t-shirts aren't partic difficult are they? cos, uniqlo?

i guess t-shirts and a nice fit can be a bit tricky.

i have a few nike shorts, a grey pair and a black pair, both sort of sweat shorts - i recommend them, there's a primeknit pair with a zip pocket, good for running or also just hanging out. dunno how y'all feel about a sport short but to me once you're wearing shorts you've already p much made a sacrifice. and i don't tend to go down the chino shorts and shirt british gent route.

chino/shirt dweeb look is ok without tucking in the shirt

it's not a style i sport

i wouldn't know what to do with the shoes though because those do look awful (maybe a sportier look could work)

i actually like wearing running shorts but do so only when i work out, and before/after that i run errands or whatevs, but i try not to make a habit out of it

beach shorts are fine when it is 30C/90F+ but at that point i'm wearing flip flops and all sense of fashion gets thrown out the window

i n f i n i t y (∞), Tuesday, 16 May 2017 15:53 (nine years ago)

i'm starting to detest myself for wearing havanianas tbh

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 16 May 2017 19:48 (nine years ago)

letting my feet breathe is the only way to prevent sweating or feeling like i'm in an oven at that temperature

the worst thing, which isn't that bad in that weather, is coming home and having to wash my feet or taking another shower

havaiianas is all i know tho an ex once tried to convince me to wear those fancy leather/fabric flip flops lol

i n f i n i t y (∞), Tuesday, 16 May 2017 20:50 (nine years ago)

I'm a firm believer in espadrilles for summer footwear. Cool and breathable, easy to slip on and off without the filthy feet problems.

Can't be having with thongs, too damned uncomfortable. I have a pair for going to the swimming pooland that's about as much as I can take.

American Fear of Pranksterism (Ed), Tuesday, 16 May 2017 21:09 (nine years ago)

Espadrilles work with everything from shorts to a suit as well whereas thongs and sandals are a bit limiting.

American Fear of Pranksterism (Ed), Tuesday, 16 May 2017 21:10 (nine years ago)

espadrilles plus a suit could pretty easily go wrong

chinavision!, Tuesday, 16 May 2017 21:23 (nine years ago)

wow am NOT liking the cut on pmt's trousers there but dj is unfwitable imo

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 16 May 2017 22:15 (nine years ago)

Espadrilles work with a suit about as well as flip flops

i am inclined to agree.

i basically think you have to wear formal shoes with a suit though

i also never wear a suit unless I'm at a funeral or a wedding

-_- (jim in vancouver), Tuesday, 16 May 2017 22:58 (nine years ago)

I wore flip flops with a linen suit at brunch by a swimming pool the morning after my wedding. They can just about work in that situation but even then you look like the kind of person you seen when you google "suit espadriles".

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Tuesday, 16 May 2017 23:02 (nine years ago)

By suit I'm thinking a summer linen or cotton affair, not a wool 3 piece.

American Fear of Pranksterism (Ed), Tuesday, 16 May 2017 23:09 (nine years ago)

not saying it can't be done, just that it's probably high risk for most

chinavision!, Tuesday, 16 May 2017 23:25 (nine years ago)

where is our gr80, the suit/footwear expert

mh, Tuesday, 16 May 2017 23:27 (nine years ago)

espadrilles are nice though

chinavision!, Tuesday, 16 May 2017 23:30 (nine years ago)

in general I think suit + no socks looks are pretty heavily pushed to the point that I see them even in winter. it should be pretty rare! like vacation or summer weekend party only I think.

chinavision!, Tuesday, 16 May 2017 23:32 (nine years ago)

everything about beardy bloke in the shorts upthread is horrible. sorry beardy bloke

Shat Parp (dog latin), Wednesday, 17 May 2017 15:59 (nine years ago)

this weekend will be a scorcher and its times like these, when i mix a date and hot weather, when my steezy falls apart

im tempted to wear my semi fitted rvca shorts (i escape the chino material, but not quite gym shorts look, which is a good middle ground for me) bc i kno i will be burning up

but im also tempted to wear my designer jeans

either way im gonna fuckin sport the black havaiianas and a tshirt ffs

i n f i n i t y (∞), Wednesday, 17 May 2017 21:01 (nine years ago)

jeans in hot weather are fine imo unless you're like walking around loads or something.

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Wednesday, 17 May 2017 21:32 (nine years ago)

we are

we're gonna watch fancy shmancy people perform adagio for strings at a museum

but before we're gonna walk to a cafe and just look at the art

i n f i n i t y (∞), Wednesday, 17 May 2017 21:34 (nine years ago)

though i guess the art-seeing will be inside and it'll be nice and cool but still

i n f i n i t y (∞), Wednesday, 17 May 2017 21:35 (nine years ago)

depends on the denim a bit too, some pairs are comfy. some not so much. that's jeans for you.

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Wednesday, 17 May 2017 21:37 (nine years ago)

but trying to push for a post-concert drink bc that's all sorts of win: potential for adult drinks, cooler weather, a young night ripe for who knows what

i n f i n i t y (∞), Wednesday, 17 May 2017 21:38 (nine years ago)

i make sure i only buy soft denim, these are ag but rag&bones good too

i n f i n i t y (∞), Wednesday, 17 May 2017 21:39 (nine years ago)

older broken-in jeans are fine for summer. stiffer heavier denim is fucking awful when it's hot

marcos, Wednesday, 17 May 2017 21:42 (nine years ago)

i hate stiff denim generally - don't like selvedge at all for that reason. i have a few pairs of acne studios, all fairly light.

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Wednesday, 17 May 2017 21:47 (nine years ago)

i can do light selvedge in spring but no denim in summer

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 17 May 2017 23:48 (nine years ago)

What do you guys where instead of jeans in the summer? Khakis or chinos or whatever?

I don't like wearing those but i just might since they are more comfortable in the heat (offfff the niiiight)

i n f i n i t y (∞), Thursday, 18 May 2017 00:03 (nine years ago)

chinos yeah

call all destroyer, Thursday, 18 May 2017 00:05 (nine years ago)

lighter demin, I got some great light denim jeans from REI when I was over in the states last month, Prana was the brand
Also linen and seersucker are the classics for the summer.

American Fear of Pranksterism (Ed), Thursday, 18 May 2017 00:20 (nine years ago)

I wear jeans year-round. I have plenty of twill and plain weave chinos too
one good pair of linen-cotton pants

shorts are for kids

your cognitive privilege (El Tomboto), Thursday, 18 May 2017 01:13 (nine years ago)

lol the whole anti-shorts thing is great if you want to look like an awkward weirdo when it's 90 degrees outside on a saturday
